Peyton Manning tied two NFL records Thursday night with five touchdown passes against the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens.

Favre tied Brett Favre's NFL record with his 23rd career game with at least four TD throws, then tied Drew Brees' mark with his seventh career five-TD performance.

Manning had a pair of TD throws to tight end Julius Thomas in the first half of Denver's season opener.

Manning hit Bubba Caldwell and then Wes Welker twice for touchdowns in the third quarter, giving the Broncos a 35-17 lead.

Welker, who earlier muffed a punt, caught Manning's pass in the left flat and circled around defender Corey Graham for a 5-yard score that tied Favre's NFL mark. He was then wide open for a 2-yard TD catch.
