Moss: We need to accept a gay player

A day after one of his teammates made anti-gay remarks at a Super Bowl Media Day interview, San Francisco 49ers WR Randy Moss took a stand on the issue.

On Wednesday, Moss' teammate Chris Culliver was quoted saying, "Ain't got no gay people on the team. They gotta get up outta here if they do. Can't be with that sweet stuff," in an interview with comedian Artie Lange. He has since apologized for his comments.

On Thursday, Moss, an NFL veteran who is looking for his first Super Bowl ring, took it upon himself to show where he stands on the issue.

“You see guys, you sometimes wonder but it’s not anyone’s job to call them out,” he told CNN’s Rachel Nichols. “I really believe we should be able to look beyond that. It’s 2013.”

Moss was also asked whether or not he thought an openly gay recruit would be pursued by colleges the same way as a straight recruit.

"I don't think we're ready to move past that, but we should be. We need to be able to move on and accept it," he told Nichols.

The 49ers face the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday in the Super Bowl in New Orleans.
