Bush thinks he's a goner in New Orleans
Reggie Bush has seen the future, and he's pretty sure it doesn't include him.
"It's been fun New Orleans," the Heisman Trophy-winning running back posted on his Twitter account after the Saints selected Mark Ingram in the NFL draft Thursday to kick-start their sputtering running game.
For good measure, he tacked on a "peace out" emoticon to the posting shortly before midnight.
Bush is due $11.8 million on his contract next season, but Ingram was widely regarded as the best running back in the draft. The Saints traded up to get him with the 28th pick of the first round.
Ingram, himself a Heisman Trophy winner in 2009 at Alabama, rushed for 1,658 yards and scored 17 touchdowns two years ago but was injured early in the 2010 season.
Bush carried just 36 times for 150 yards and made 34 receptions for 208 yards in eight games last season. He has not gone over 1,000 combined rushing and receiving yards since appearing in all 16 games as a rookie in 2006, when Bush made 88 catches.
The 2006 season was also the last time Bush played all 16 games.
