Veteran tight end Reggie Kelly has returned to the team where he started his NFL career.

A source told FOXSports.com that Kelly has agreed to contract terms with the Falcons. Contract details weren’t immediately available.

Kelly, who entered the league with Atlanta as a 1999 second-round draft pick, is expected to play a backup role behind starter Tony Gonzalez. Justin Peele, who is Atlanta’s second-string tight end, is recovering from a knee injury.

Kelly, 34, has played the past eight seasons for Cincinnati. He worked out last week for Pittsburgh.

The Falcons also worked out NFL veteran Anthony Becht before opting to sign Kelly.
