Report: Pouncey misses practice to testify in Hernandez case

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 9:28 p.m. ET

Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey once again found himself embroiled in the Aaron Hernandez case on Wednesday, presumably answering questions before a grand jury in Boston while his teammates practiced in South Florida, the Miami Herald reported.

Pouncey, a teammate of Hernandez at the University of Florida, was reportedly subpoenaed in Foxboro, Mass., in October. According to the Herald:

"Pouncey was in Boston, according to a league source — presumably being questioned about what he knows about the alleged illegal acts committed by former college teammate Aaron Hernandez."

Hernandez, the former Patriots tight end, is currently in a Massachusetts jail, charged with the June 17 murder of Odin Lloyd. But reports also surfaced in October that prosecutors were also looking into Hernandez's potential role in interstate gun trafficking, and according to the Herald, it is unknown exactly what Pouncey testified about, and whether he is viewed as a witness or possible suspect.

The Herald said Pouncey is expected to play Sunday at home against, of course, the Patriots.
