Report: Manningham out for season

Published Dec. 24, 2012 12:00 a.m. ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mario Manningham is out for the rest of the season and the playoffs after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament and the posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Manningham was injured in the third quarter of Sunday night's 42-13 loss at Seattle when he was hit by defensive back Leroy Hill and fumbled. He left the locker room on crutches after the game, and an MRI on Monday revealed the damage. Manningham is second on the team with 42 catches, along with 449 yards and a TD.

The 49ers (10-4-1) have clinched a playoff spot and can win the NFC West with a win Sunday against Arizona and a Green Bay loss to Minnesota.
