Bradford enjoys near-perfect pro day

He worked under center with three, five and seven-step drops, out of the shotgun and on the run.

The one consistency: He was on the money.

And the throw that highlighted them all was a 65-yard deep post Bradford tossed right over the right shoulder and into the hands of receiver Adron Tennell.

Bradford admitted that was his defining moment.

“I would say probably the deep post route to Adron [was the highlight],” Bradford said. “I felt like that ball came out good, and I caught him in stride, so when I threw that one, I knew it was good.”

But even if the others didn’t feel quite as good, perhaps because the difficulty of that particular route, it’s safe to say they all looked just as good.

“Well, he didn’t throw one bad ball,” said Gil Brandt, current analyst for NFL.com and former Vice President of player personnel for the Dallas Cowboys. “The first 37, there wasn’t [any flaw], and then you saw the long ball and everything like that. I mean, it was a clinic. It was Picasso out there today.”

And if being compared to Picasso in the form of a quarterback isn’t enough praise, how’s being compared to a former Hall of Fame NFL quarterback?

“He put on the best quarterback workout by a draft prospect that I’ve seen since I watched a private workout Troy Aikman put on for us with the Cowboys in California,” Brandt said.

If the St. Louis Rams were concerned about Bradford’s recovery with regards to their No. 1 overall pick in the April NFL Draft, they shouldn’t be now.

“I thought I did very well today,” Bradford said. “I thought I showed a wide variety of throws. I thought I came out and showed some [movement] on some different throws, and I think it showed everyone I can still make all the throws, and my shoulder’s still what it was before I got hurt.”

Perhaps his tight spirals with ridiculous precision were an indicator that his shoulder may even be stronger than prior to the injury in the first place.

“Yeah, I think so,” Bradford said. “I feel like it’s getting stronger every week, so as long as it continues to get stronger, I think there’s no doubt that by the time it levels off, it is going to be better and stronger than it was before the surgery.”

In about three weeks, we’ll know the final verdict about Bradford's draft position. But his Pro Day performance may have solidified his status as the No. 1 overall pick.
