Embattled Sharpe takes leave from CBS

Published Sep. 14, 2010 1:00 a.m. ET

Former NFL star Shannon Sharpe is taking leave of his job as an analyst for CBS after a woman filed a restraining order against him, claiming he forced her to have sex with him and threatened her life.

In the petition for the restraining order, which was issued last week by an Atlanta Court, Michele Bundy said Sharpe has been stalking her and making threatening phone calls. It's unclear what their relationship is.

CBS Sports Senior Vice President of Communications LeslieAnne Wade said on behalf of the network: “We accept Shannon’s decision and decline to comment further on a pending legal matter.”

Sharpe is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, though he has not been charged with a crime.
