Rams beat Buccaneers, but fear is OT Jake Long tore ACL

St. Louis Rams offensive tackle Jake Long was taken off the field on a cart with a right knee injury at the end of the first offensive series. Coach Jeff Fisher said the team believed Long had a torn ACL.

It appeared Long's knee gave out on pass protection against the Buccaneers' Adrian Clayborn on Sunday. He has started every game at left tackle.

Long was the first overall pick of the 2008 draft by the Miami Dolphins and is finishing the first year of a two-year free agent deal.

The injury prompted juggling on the line, which had a strong game in the 23-13 victory over Tampa Bay. Zac Stacy had 104 yards on 33 carries and quarterback Kellen Clemens was sacked once.

Rodger Saffold moved from right guard to left tackle and Shelley Smith took over at right guard. Saffold was the left tackle his first three seasons with St. Louis and moved to right tackle when Long signed, and has made five starts at guard.
