LB to push for gays at Super Bowl?

Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo has been a vocal advocate for legalizing same-sex marriage. But as Baltimore prepares to take on the 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII, Ayanbadejo is reportedly planning to take advantage of the media blitz surrounding the big game.

According to The New York Times, Ayanbadejo reached out to Brian Ellner, a marriage-equality advocate and Michael Skolnik, a political director for hip-hop mogul Russel Simmons.

“Is there anything I can do for marriage equality or anti-bullying over the next couple of weeks to harness this Super Bowl media?” Ayanbadejo wrote in an e-mail, according to the Times.

The 10-year veteran said he wants to appear on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” if the Ravens win the Super Bowl to discuss same-sex marriages.

“It’s one of those times when you’re really passionate and in your zone,” Ayanbadejo told the Times. “And I got to thinking about all kinds of things, and I thought: 'How can we get our message out there?'”
