Barber seeks new career with shipping company
Former New York Giant Tiki Barber has got the fallback option to his failed NFL comeback attempt wrapped up, the New York Post reported Monday.
The out-of-demand free agent, 36, is set to work with international shipping company First Global Xpress (FGX).
Barber revealed the career change in an email to friends. An FGX spokeswoman confirmed that the running back would "partner with us on some business development opportunities."
Barber is known to be keen to start up and lead a consultancy and placement service for former NFL players to mentor young athletes, sources told The Post. It was unclear if he would pursue that goal in alliance with FGX.
Barber, who was drafted by the Giants from Virginia in the second round of the 1997 Draft, originally announced his retirement in October 2006, departing as the team's all-time leading rusher.
He announced his intention to return to the NFL earlier this year, but in September was said to be "devastated" after being passed up by all 32 teams.
