Tebow shows true calling may be in the ministry

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 6:19 p.m. ET

Former NFL QB Tim Tebow never downplayed his religious beliefs and now that he doesn't have to lace up on Sundays, he's putting his leadership skills to work for a higher purpose.

Tebow made an appearance at First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Fla. on Sunday to minister to the congregation. And Tebow had the honor of delivering his message last with a sermon titled "Preaching Christ." According to the churchgoers, he kept them engaged.

It's not the first time. Tebow gave a Father's Day sermon in San Diego in 2012 and was supposed to preach at a Texas Church last year, but decided to cancel because of public protest due to hateful speech from the pastor there. It just didn't fit his clean image.

The ministry may have to wait, though. While he's not being sought after by NFL teams, his career in football isn't over yet. Tebow is set to debut as a host on the SEC Network this fall and will guest host "Good Morning America" on Friday.
