Utah State's Wagner to miss combine

One of the standout players at the 2012 Senior Bowl won’t have the chance to impress NFL personnel directors again at this week’s NFL Scouting Combine.

Utah State inside linebacker Bobby Wagner was hospitalized Monday in Arizona with pneumonia, a source told FOXSports.com. Agent Kenny Zuckerman said Wagner was not cleared to travel to Indianapolis but that he will be discharged by the weekend and fully recovered within the next few weeks.

Wagner’s draft stock began to skyrocket after a seven-tackle, one-interception effort for the North squad in the Senior Bowl. The 6-foot, 241-pound Wagner earned All-Western Athletic Conference honors the past three seasons at Utah State.

Wagner is projected as a first- or second-round pick in April’s NFL Draft.

Wagner was participating in pre-draft workouts in Arizona when he fell ill.

Once healthy, Wagner will conduct private workouts for interested NFL teams. He also will travel to Indianapolis for the medical exams that are given to combine participants.

It’s unknown at this time whether Wagner will be healthy enough to participate in Utah State’s March 8 pro day for NFL scouts.
