Fantasy News
Sun. Nov 22, 2009 | Fanball
News: Tony Gonzalez led the Falcons with eight receptions for 82 yards and a touchdown in today's 34-31 loss at the Giants.
Impact: Gonzo averages 70 yards over his last four games, and scored two touchdowns over the span. The long-time member of the Chiefs continues to fit in very well with his new club.
Sun. Nov 22, 2009 | Fanball
News: Jason Snelling was productive in today's 34-31 loss at the Giants, as he had 25 carries for 76 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught three passes for 13 receiving yards.
Impact: Snelling wasn't a worthy replacement for stud Michael Turner, but had a very good game for fantasy owners that penciled him into lineups today. Turner (high-ankle sprain) is uncertain to return in a favorable matchup against Tampa Bay in Week 12.
Sun. Nov 22, 2009 | Fanball
News: Matt Ryan had a good outing in Sunday's 34-31 loss at the Giants, as he completed 25-of-46 passes for 268 yards, with two touchdowns and no interceptions.
Impact: This was an encouraging outing for Ryan and the Falcons, as they were without stud running back Michael Turner (high-ankle sprain). The second-year quarterback continues to develop well, as he fired multiple touchdown passes in six of 10 games this season.
Nov 22, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Grimes had five tackles and one interception as the Falcons lost to the Giants in overtime on Sunday.
Impact: Since filling in for Brian Williams (torn ACL) who was placed on the injured reserve on Oct. 19, Grimes has really scuffled as the starting cornerback. Grimes lost the starting job last season, too, and with the Falcons losing four of their last five games while giving up plenty of yards through the air, he's not doing a whole lot to keep his job this year either. The Falcons entered the 2009 season with a suspect defensive secondary, and so far they've been just that.
Nov 22, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Peterson had nine tackles and two assists in the Falcons' overtime loss to the Giants on Sunday.
Impact: The Falcons are very strong at linebacker, but the rest of the defense put up a very lousy effort to stop Eli Manning and the Giants' attack.
Nov 22, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Lofton made 11 tackles during Sunday's loss to the Giants.
Impact: Lofton has 101 tackles on the season, which bodes well for his fantasy numbers, but the Falcons defense was bad on multiple fronts on Sunday. They just couldn't stop the Eli Manning passing attack, and have really struggled on third-down situations. Nevertheless, Lofton is having a great individual year.
Nov 22, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Elam made 1-of-2 field goals and four extra points on Sunday against the Giants.
Impact: The struggles continue for Elam. Elam is just 10-of-15 on field goals this season, and has just two kicks of 40 yards or more.
Nov 22, 2009 | RotoWire
News: White had four catches for 45 yards as the Falcons fell to the Giants in overtime 34-31.
Impact: No scores on Sunday, but White is among the best fantasy receivers out there. Expect a better showing next week against the lowly Buccaneers.
Nov 22, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Jenkins caught six passes for 76 yards in the Falcons' losing effort to the Gaints on Sunday.
Impact: This may have been Jenkins' best game so far this season, but he's still an unreliable fantasy target. Start him cautiously from here on out.
Nov 22, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Gonzalez caught 8 passes for 82 yards and a touchdown in the Falons 34-31 overtime loss to the Giants.
Impact: The Falcons have lost four of their last five games, but Gonzalez is having a great fantasy season. He's healthy, and playing well with Matt Ryan in his first year in Atlanta.
Nov 22, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Stecker did not have a carry in Sunday's game against the Giants. He was the Falcons No. 2 running back with Michael Turner (ankle) and Jerious Norwood (hip) injured.
Impact: Stecker may need another week to learn the playbook, but we do not recommend Stecker as a good fantasy option despite the Falcons' thin running back depth chart.
Nov 22, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Snelling rushed 25 times for 76 yards and scored two touchdowns replacing the injured Michael Turner (ankle) as the Falcons' starting running back on Sunday. The Falcons lost in overtime 34-31 to the Giants.
Impact: Snelling prepared all week to be the team's starter despite the Falcons not officially ruling out Turner until just a few hours before kickoff. Overall, this was a very good spot start for Snelling, whose never had the opportunity to be the every-down running back in his short career. However, we'll be back on Turner/Jerious Norwood (hip) watch this upcoming week and keep an eye on Snelling's chance of starting next Sunday.
Nov 22, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Ryan passed 26-of-46 with 268 yards and two touchdowns in the Falcons' 31-34 loss to the Giants in overtime.
Impact: Ryan was able to snap his six-game interception streak and put together a solid performance against the Giants. More importantly, Ryan was able to lead the team back from a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter to force the overtime period, and really showed the poise and control we saw in his rookie season last year, which had yet to really show up in 2009. Despite the loss and coughing up a fumble that turned into a Giants touchdown, along with managing a game with a very thin running back depth chart, Ryan did a lot of things right on Sunday.
Sun. Nov 22, 2009 | Fanball
News: Falcons inactives: WR Brian Finneran, RB Jerious Norwood, QB John Parker Wilson, RB Michael Turner, OT Quinn Ojinnaka, LB Spencer Adkins, DL Trey Lewis.
Impact: Jason Snelling with start at running back against the Giants with both Turner and Norwood out. Star receiver Roddy White is active and will start.
Sun. Nov 22, 2009 | Fanball
News: Michael Turner (high-ankle sprain) will miss today's game against the Giants, according to Rachel Nichols' (ESPN) twitter page.
Impact: Jason Snelling is expected to start at running back in his absence. The Giants are ranked 13th in pass defense, but allowed 12 touchdowns.
Sun. Nov 22, 2009 | Fanball
News: NFL.com reports that Falcons wideout Roddy White will play in Sunday's game against the Giants despite a nagging knee injury.
Impact: White is officially listed as questionable, but a league source stated that he will not miss any action despite being limited in practice all week. He has yet to miss a game this season and Matt Ryan's favorite target should be a fine play once again in fantasy leagues.
Nov 22, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Coleman (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Impact: He's a reliable source of tackles, so consider him in your defensive back spot if you're in need of an IDP option this week.
Nov 22, 2009 | RotoWire
News: White (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Impact: Feel free to use him as you normally would. White has averaged 70.8 yards per game while finding the end zone twice over the last four games. With Michael Turner and Jerious Norwood out for Sunday's game, the Falcons may rely on the pass a bit more than usual this week.
Nov 22, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Norwood (hip) told D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he would not play.
Impact: Jason Snelling will start for the Falcons against the Giants on Sunday. Look for him to get the majority of the carries with Michael Turner (ankle) ruled out as well.
Nov 22, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Snelling will start against the Giants on Sunday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Impact: Michael Turner (ankle) has been ruled out, while the status of Jerious Norwood is unclear at this time. Even if Norwood plays, we expect to see Snelling receive the largest share of the workload in the Atlanta backfield in Week 11.
Nov 22, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Turner (ankle) will not play Sunday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Impact: Jason Snelling will start at running back for the Falcons on Sunday. The status of Jerious Norwood is unclear at this time, but look for Snelling to receive the largest share of the workload against the Giants in Week 11.
Fri. Nov 20, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Coleman (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Giants, the New York Daily News' Ralph Vacchiano reports.
Impact: Coleman has been a huge source of tackles recently, but his uncertain status means you'll need to check back Sunday morning before starting him. Luckily, the Falcons play in the early slate of games, so we'll have final confirmation in plenty of time for you to adjust your lineup accordingly.
Fri. Nov 20, 2009 | RotoWire
News: White (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Giants, the New York Daily News' Ralph Vacchiano reports.
Impact: The questionable tag has become a weekly trend for White, but he's played the last two weeks and we aren't overly concerned about his Week 11 status. We don't want you to get burned, however, so check back Sunday morning to verify White's availability.
Fri. Nov 20, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Norwood (hip) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Giants, the New York Daily News' Ralph Vacchiano reports.
Impact: Norwood has missed about a month with this injury, so even if he plays, he'll likely be a distant second to Jason Snelling in terms of offensive touches. Michael Turner, who is listed as doubtful, is not expected to play.
Fri. Nov 20, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Turner (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Giants, the New York Daily News' Ralph Vacchiano reports.
Impact: Atlanta hasn't officially ruled Turner out, but there is almost no chance that he plays Sunday. The majority of the carries should fall to Jason Snelling, although Jerious Norwood (hip) could be a factor as well. With no timetable set for his return, this may not be the only game Turner misses.
Fri. Nov 20, 2009 | Fanball
News: ProFootballTalk.com is reporting that Falcons' running back Jerious Norwood practiced again on Friday. Norwood is listed as questionable for Sunday's game, but the team is hopeful that he will play.
Impact: It looks like Norwood will be able to go this week, and he will likely play behind Jason Snelling. Snelling is the better play here with Michael Turner out, but Norwood could have some value if Turner misses significant time.
Fri. Nov 20, 2009 | STATS
News: Norwood is inactive for Atlanta on Sunday against the Giants.
Impact: Norwood had missed Atlanta's last four games with a hip flexor.
Fri. Nov 20, 2009 | Fanball
News: Falcons' running back Michael Turner missed practice again on Friday and is being listed as doubtful for this week's game, according to ProFootballTalk.com. Turner is dealing with a high ankle sprain.
Impact: Nobody really thought Turner would be able to go this week, but the Falcons have still not officially ruled him out. Fantasy owners should have someone else in the lineup, specifically Jason Snelling if you picked him up as a handcuff.
Fri. Nov 20, 2009 | RotoWire
News: With Michael Turner (ankle) listed as doubtful and Jerious Norwood (hip) questionable, Snelling remains in line to start Sunday against the Giants.
Impact: Even if Norwood plays, he'll be returning from a long layoff and may not be ready for many touches. All signs point to a heavy workload for Snelling, making him a viable starting option in most formats.
Fri. Nov 20, 2009 | Fanball
News: Roddy White is questionable for Sunday against the Giants with a knee injury, according to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News.
Impact: White has been limited in practice for a number of weeks now, and has yet to miss any game time. He will almost certainly be a go on Sunday.
Thu. Nov 19, 2009 | Fanball
News: Falcons' wide receiver Roddy White returned to practice in a limited fashion on Thursday, according to the team's official website. White is dealing with a knee injury.
Impact: White should be fine for this week, and it was a good sign that he was able to get out there today. Fantasy owners should feel comfortable putting White in the lineup this week, but we will continue to monitor his status.
Thu. Nov 19, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Coleman (knee) was a limited participant at Thursday's practice, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: More on his status Friday, but his presence Thursday after sitting out Wednesday, is certainly a positive sign.
Thu. Nov 19, 2009 | Fanball
News: The Falcons do not yet have a timetable for Michael Turner's return from a high ankle sprain, according to the team.
Impact: Jason Snelling, and possibly Jerious Norwood, will handle the load at running back this weekend, and almost certainly in Week 12, as well. You can expect to begin hearing serious reports about Turner returning in early December.
Thu. Nov 19, 2009 | RotoWire
News: White (knee) was a limited practice participant Thursday, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: White has ended up on the injury report the past couple of weeks and played, and this week doesn't look like it will be any different. We'll let you know if that assessment changes.
Thu. Nov 19, 2009 | RotoWire
News: With the status of Michael Turner (ankle) and Jerious Norwood (hip) up in the air, Stecker could see a lot more action in the running game on Sunday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Impact: Jason Snelling, the likely starter if Turner and Norwood are out, has never been an every-down running back in his career. While Stecker has bounced around throughout his career, his experience may save the Falcons' running attack if Snelling struggles in his new role. However, if either Turner or Norwood is cleared to play, Stecker's potential fantasy implications will be instantly nullified.
Thu. Nov 19, 2009 | Fanball
News: Jerious Norwood (hip) participated in Falcons practice on Thursday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He has missed the team's past four games.
Impact: His return is a much bigger deal than it normally would be, as Michael Turner is out indefinitely with a high ankle sprain. But even if Norwood is able to go Sunday, he'll likely be backing up Jason Snelling.
Thu. Nov 19, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Turner (ankle) did not participate in Thursday's practice, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: Turner refuses to rule himself out for Sunday's game against the Giants, but the report adds that there is no timetable for his return. Given that he is dealing with a high ankle sprain, Turner would need to look pretty spry Friday to be considered for any action this weekend. He's iffy, at best, so Jason Snelling (who may also be joined by Jerious Norwood) appears to be in line for an expanded workload this week.
Thu. Nov 19, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Norwood (hip) was a limited practice participant Thursday, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: More on Norwood's status Friday, but Thursday's participation is a positive step for him after missing four straight games. Meanwhile, Michael Turner did not practice Thursday, which leaves Jason Snelling and Aaron Stecker as the Falcons' healthiest running back options heading into the weekend.
Thu. Nov 19, 2009 | RotoWire
News: With the status of both Michael Turner (ankle) and Jerious Norwood (hip) still uncertain for Sunday against the Giants, Ryan may have more attempts than usual if the Falcons' running game struggles.
Impact: You should be starting Ryan anyway, but the team's success on Sunday will lean on Ryan's shoulders more so than any game in the quarterback's career. Jason Snelling, the odds-on starter if Turner and Norwood are unavailable, has shown promise in special running situations, but has never been an every-down running back in his career. After beginning the season completing nearly 67 percent of his passes with only two interceptions over a 3-1 start, he has thrown 10 interceptions and completed under 55 percent in his last five games. With that said, Ryan is due for a breakout game.
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Norwood (hip) did not practice Wednesday, AtlantaFalcons.com's J. Michael Moore reports.
Impact: The Falcons are hopeful he'll resume working with the team on Thursday after he spent Wednesday's practice working on a side field. With Michael Turner unlikely to play, Norwood stands to see a significant number of carries if his hip is healthy enough. Jason Snelling is also available for a heavy workload if Turner and/or Norwood are out.
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 | Fanball
News: Updating an earlier report, Michael Turner did not practice Wednesday while dealing with a high-ankle sprain suffered in Week 10 against Carolina, according to the Falcons' official website.
Impact: The star running back is yet to rule himself out for Sunday's game against the Giants in the Meadowlands. Jason Snelling would be the top candidate to start at running back if Turner is unable to go, namely as Jerious Norwood (hip) also missed today's practice.
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 | Fanball
News: Roddy White missed today's practice while nursing his ailing knee, according to the Falcons' official website.
Impact: White managed to haul in eight receptions for 98 yards against a good Carolina pass defense in Week 10. The star receiver should be fine to pencil into fantasy lineups if deemed fit to play against the Giants on Sunday.
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 | Fanball
News: Erik Coleman did not practice Wednesday while nursing a knee ailment, according to the Falcons' official website.
Impact: Coleman is the hammer of the Falcons' secondary at strong safety, and would be missed if unable to play against the Giants on Sunday. He has only missed one game over the previous five years of his NFL career.
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 | Fanball
News: J. Michael Moore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that Falcons' running back Jerious Norwood worked on a side field Wednesday. The team is hopeful that he will be able to practice on Thursday.
Impact: Norwood is trying to come back from his hip injury to play this week, and the team will need him if Michael Turner can't go. Assuming he practices tomorrow and is in line to play this week, he could be worth an add if you need running back help.
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Snelling is preparing to start Sunday against the Giants, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Neither Jerious Norwood (hip) nor Michael Turner (ankle) practiced on Wednesday.
Impact: Neither Norwood nor Turner has been ruled out, but both seem unlikely to play against the Giants. Snelling is worth a waiver claim in most leagues and could be a nice RB2 option for Week 11 and possibly beyond.
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 | RotoWire
News: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution says Norwood "looks like a long shot" to play Sunday against the Giants. He did not practice Wednesday.
Impact: Neither Norwood nor Michael Turner has been ruled out, but all signs seem to point to Jason Snelling as the primary runner this week. Norwood has missed the last four games with the hip injury.
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 | RotoWire
News: White (knee) did not practice Wednesday, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: White has either been held out or limited the past two Wednesdays, but managed to play both times. Look for a similar situation to unfold this week.
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Coleman did not practice Wednesday because of a knee injury, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: We don't know much about this injury just yet, but we'll keep tabs on it since Coleman has been a tackling machine over the last month, with three double-digit tackle games in his last four.
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 | Fanball
News: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that Falcons' running back Michael Turner is not ruling himself out for this week against the Giants. Turner said he doesn't have a time frame on the injury and that he will evaluate his status later in the week.
Impact: If Turner has a high ankle sprain as reports have indicated, he won't be playing this week. Turner owners need to have someone else ready to go this week, but it might be worth it to check back later in the week just to make sure he hasn't made a miraculous recovery.
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 | Fanball
News: The Atlanta Falcons have re-signed wide receiver Troy Bergeron to their practice squad, according to the Twitter page of beat writer J. Michael Moore.
Impact: Bergeron was released by the team earlier this week to make room on the roster for Aaron Stecker, but they like him enough to keep him in the organization. He will likely stay on the practice squad for the rest of the season unless to receiving corps gets hit by injury.
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Turner, who suffered a high ankle sprain last weekend, has not ruled himself out for Sunday's game against the Giants, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. "I don't have a time-frame on the injury," Turner said Wednesday. "I'm not going to count myself out right now. It's only Wednesday. I'm going to take a couple of days. Later on in the week, I ‘ll know for sure if I'll be able to play or not."
Impact: While it's nice that Turner hasn't ruled himself out, the "I don't have a time-frame" comment probably holds more water at this point. If Turner is unable to go Sunday, Jason Snelling would be in line for an expanded role, plus Jerious Norwood could provide a boost with his possible return this week.
Tue. Nov 17, 2009 | RotoWire
News: The Falcons re-signed Aaron Stecker on Tuesday for support in the running game as Turner's (ankle) status for Sunday against the Giants is still unknown, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact: With the signing of Stecker, one would think that things aren't looking good for Turner playing on Sunday. However, don't jump to conclusions just yet -- Turner has had a history of playing and performing well with injuries throughout his five-year career. Turner had 428 rushing yards in the three games, averaging a staggering 9.1 yards per carry over that span, so we're definitely locked in to his situation and will give you updates as they come to us.
Tue. Nov 17, 2009 | RotoWire
News: As it stands now, and if he's healthy enough, Jerious Norwood (hip) appears to be the starting running back ahead of Snelling for the Falcons if Michael Turner (ankle) is not available for Sunday against the Giants, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Impact: Keep in mind, however, that Snelling had more rushing attempts than Norwood before he got injured, while Norwood was used more so in short-yard passing plays out of the flat. Despite Turner's injury status, which should be sorted out by the end of the week, Snelling has been producing well this season even with Turner in the lineup.
Tue. Nov 17, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Norwood (hip) may be the Falcons' starting running back if Michael Turner (ankle) is unable to play Sunday against the Giants, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Impact: The Falcons' training staff is being very dodgy in their answers concerning Turner's availability for Sunday, but Norwood's fantasy owners should keep in mind that he isn't at 100 percent either. Norwood has yet to practice the entire month of November on account of his injury and the birth of his son, and he's had a very sluggish start to the season anyhow, so you can't be too sure of starting him at this stage of the game. We'll try to have a more clear game plan for you as game day approaches.
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Coach Mike Smith said Monday that "we are certainly hoping Norwood (hip) will be back" for Sunday's game against the Giants, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: Norwood's status is suddenly key, in light of Michael Turner's ankle injury. It's been a tough season for Norwood, but there is a chance for him to carve out a role in the coming weeks along with Jason Snelling if Turner is forced to miss time, which seems likely at this point.
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Turner is reportedly dealing with a high ankle sprain, Fox's Jay Glazer reports.
Impact: We are still awaiting further details, but the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that "coach Mike Smith said Turner will play again in 2009." That in itself infers that he will miss some time, but we'll await confirmation. As a result, Jason Snelling and/or Jerious Norwood are players to target to see how this turns out.
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 | Fanball
News: Troy Bergeron has been released by the Falcons, according to their official team website.
Impact: The team brought back running back Aaron Stecker, and receiver Bergeron was viewed as expendable.
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 | Fanball
News: The Falcons have re-signed Aaron Stecker, according to their official team website. The club released receiver Troy Bergeron to make room on the roster.
Impact: Stecker was brought back for added depth at running back with Michael Turner dealing with a high-ankle sprain, and Jerious Norwood still recovering from his hip injury. Jason Snelling would likely handle the bulk of the workload if Turner is unable to play on Sunday against the Giants.
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 | Fanball
News: Jerious Norwood is nearing his return from a hip injury, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Impact: This is key news, as stud Michael Turner's status is uncertain after suffering a high-ankle sprain yesterday against Carolina. Jason Snelling and Norwood would share the workload at running back if Turner is on the shelf for a while. Snelling is more of a bruiser while Norwood is a big-play threat.
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 | RotoWire
News: The Falcons released Bergeron on Monday to make room for running back Aaron Stecker, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact: Bergeron will likely end up back on Atlanta's practice squad.
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 | RotoWire
News: The Falcons re-signed Stecker on Monday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact: Michael Turner's ankle injury has put his status for Sunday's game in doubt, and Jerious Norwood has missed the last four games with a hip injury. Assuming Turner can't play, Norwood and/or Jason Snelling would get the bulk of the work, with Stecker rotating in for certain situations.
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 | STATS
News: Ryan was 22 of 41 for 224 yards and one touchdown Sunday in a 28-19 loss to Carolina. He has eight INTs in his last four games.
Impact: The Falcons believe Ryan will bounce back against the struggling Giants - losers of four straight - next Sunday. "I don't think there's anything technically wrong with him," receiver Michael Jenkins said of Ryan. "We've just got to limit turnovers and execute better." Fantasy owners should beware, however.
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 | STATS
News: White had seven catches for 98 yards Sunday in a 28-19 loss at Carolina.
Impact: White failed to find the end zone for the second straight week due to Matt Ryan's struggles.
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 | STATS
News: Turner had nine carries for 111 yards before leaving with a sprained right ankle in the Falcons' 28-19 loss to Carolina on Sunday.
Impact: It is unclear whether Turner will play next Sunday against the Giants. Jason Snelling could replace him.
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Turner has a high ankle sprain, but so far the Falcons are not discussing how that will affect his Week 11 availability, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports. "We're not going to give a competitive advantage to our next opponent on Monday afternoon," coach Mike Smith said.
Impact: Given the tricky nature of high ankle sprains, Turner sounds iffy, at best, for Sunday's game against the Giants, so plan accordingly. If he is unable to go this week, look for Jason Snelling and quite possibly Jerious Norwood (assuming he returns) to fill in.
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 | Fanball
News: Michael Turner has been diagnosed with a high ankle sprain, according to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports.
Impact: High ankle sprains are much more serious than typical ankle sprains, usually keeping players out for over a month. However, without citing a reason to be, the Falcons say they are optimistic that the injury "Won't shelve (Turner) as long as high ankle sprains usually keeps a guy out," according to Glazer. Regardless, find a way to add Jason Snelling immediately.
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 | Fanball
News: The Falcons are expected to re-sign running back Aaron Stecker on Monday, a possible sign that Michael Turner (ankle) will be out in Week 11, according to NFL.com.
Impact: Of course, the team could just be bringing Stecker in to cover their bases, but it's still not a positive development if you are a Turner owner. A lot more rests on his MRI results, however, than the potential signing of Stecker.
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 | Fanball
News: The Falcons will determine on Monday whether Michael Turner's ankle injury is of the high or low variety, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
Impact: If it is a low one, his chances of playing in Week 11 will be relatively high. If it is a high one, he could be out into December. Hold your breath, and have Jason Snelling on fantasy speed dial.
Sun. Nov 15, 2009 | Fanball
News: Michael Turner might have suffered a high-ankle sprain in the Week 10 loss at Carolina, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
Impact: The Burner will undergo an MRI exam tomorrow to determine the extent of the damage. If he were to miss extended time, the Falcons would be thin at running back with Jason Snelling being the only healthy runner on the depth chart. Jerious Norwood has missed the last five games with a hip injury.
Sun. Nov 15, 2009 | Fanball
News: Roddy White compiled seven receptions for 98 yards in the Week 10 loss at Carolina.
Impact: This was a solid bounceback performance for White, who only had three receptions for 27 yards last week at New Orleans. The Falcons go-to receiver continues to represent a solid No.1 fantasy wideout in all formats.
Nov 15, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Peterson had six tackles in Sunday's loss to the Panthers.
Impact: Peterson has 61 tackles on the season with two forced fumbles and an interception, and has a good shot to eclipse the century mark in tackles by season's end.
Nov 15, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Lofton (knee, ankle) had four tackles in Sunday's loss to the Panthers.
Impact: Lofton is already at 90 tackles on the season with two forced fumbles, and is the top IDP choice on the Falcons' roster.
Nov 15, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Abraham had just one tackle and no sacks against the Panthers on Sunday.
Impact: Abraham has typically had a lot of success against the Panthers throughout his career, but he was kept quiet on Sunday. If you're still using Abraham in an IDP scenario, you may want to start looking elsewhere. His sack numbers are way down (just 3.5 on the season), and his tackle totals have never been anything to get excited about.
Nov 15, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Turner will have tests on Monday (presumably including an MRI) to determine the extent of the ankle injury injury he suffered Sunday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact: It's a little early to know how bad his ankle injury is, but if you own Turner, who was wearing a boot after the game, cross your fingers that it's not a high ankle sprain. With Jerious Norwood still banged up, Jason Snelling is worth a speculative pickup to see how this situation turns out.
Nov 15, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Elam connected with 2-of-3 field goals and one extra point in the Falcons' 28-19 loss to the Panthers.
Impact: Elam missed a crucial 34-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter that could have given the Falcons a two-point lead -- a miss that ultimately took the steam out of the comeback. Elam has had a disastrous season so far and cannot seem to break out of a funk that started back on Week 1. It may be time to start looking elsewhere for a kicker if you're still starting Elam.
Nov 15, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Gonzalez made six catches for 67 yards in Sunday's losing effort against the Panthers.
Impact: Running back Michael Turner left Sunday's game with a high ankle sprain, which means the Falcons are thin at running back and may need to rely on Gonzalez a bit more than usual.
Nov 15, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Turner (ankle) did not return in Sunday's game against the Panthers. He finished with 111 yards on nine carries in the loss.
Impact: We will certainly keep you updated on Turner's status in the coming days.
Nov 15, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Ryan passed 22-of-41 for 224 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions as the Falcons fell to the Panthers 28-19.
Impact: Ryan has shown inconsistency after a strong start to the season, and now has thrown an interception in each of his last six games. He has now thrown 12 interceptions, which already eclipses the 11 he threw in his rookie season. It became quite obvious that the pressure from the Panthers was beginning to get under Ryan's skin as he continuous overthrew his receivers for the crux of the afternoon. However, Ryan is still a must-start in almost all leagues with Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez being the explosive targets they are.
Nov 15, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Snelling (hamstring) ran for 61 yards on 18 carries with a touchdown and caught three passes for 32 yards in Sunday's 28-19 loss at Carolina.
Impact: Snelling received so much work because Michael Turner left the game in the second quarter with an ankle injury. Snelling is a bit of a tweener, but has been effective when give the opportunity this season and might be a sneaky play moving forward should Turner be forced to sit out.
Nov 15, 2009 | RotoWire
News: White (knee) caught a game-high seven passes for 98 yards in Sunday's 28-19 loss at Carolina.
Impact: White was coming off his worst statistical game of the season, so this was certainly a nice bounce-back performance, especially against a team that has been strong versus the pass all season. Michael Turner left the game with an ankle injury, and while Jason Snelling was productive in his absence, Atlanta may have to lean on Matt Ryan, White and the passing game a bit more if Turner is forced to miss time.
Sun. Nov 15, 2009 | Fanball
News: Michael Turner has gone to the locker room after spraining his right ankle at Carolina, according to the Associated Press.
Impact: Turner rolled the ankle when he was tackled at the end of a 10-yard run. He took off his shoe and walked around some before heading inside. The Falcons said his return was questionable.
Sun. Nov 15, 2009 | Fanball
News: Michael Turner exited the game at Carolina in the second quarter with an ankle injury.
Impact: Turner, who compiled nine carries for 111 yards, is being tended to on the sideline by the medical staff. No additional information is currently available regarding the severity of the injury, but we will keep you updated. For now, Jason Snelling has replaced him in the starting lineup and he just scored on a one-yard run.
Sun. Nov 15, 2009 | STATS
News: Turner's hot start was derailed Sunday when he left in the second quarter with a sprained right ankle in the Falcons' 28-19 loss to Carolina.
Impact: Coach Mike Smith said Turner will undergo tests Monday to determine if he'll be out an extended period. "I think we'll have a lot better idea when we get him back to Atlanta," Smith said.

News: Week 10 inactives: QB John Parker Wilson (3rd), WR Brian Finneran, SS Charlie Peprah, OT Garrett Reynolds, RB Jerious Norwood, OT Sam Baker, LB Spencer Adkins, and DL Trey Lewis.
Impact: WR Roddy White (knee) is active and will start, while RB Jason Snelling will play in place of Norwood, who is out with a hip injury. On defense, LB Curtis Lofton (knee) and DE Kroy Biermann are active and will start.
Nov 15, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Turner has a right ankle sprain and his return to Sunday's game against the Panthers is questionable, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
Impact: Turner, who had 111 yards on nine carries before his departure, figures to be spelled by Jason Snelling if he's unable to return to the game.
Sun. Nov 15, 2009 | Fanball
News: Michael Jenkins (illness) will play on Sunday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Impact: He was a late addition to the team's injury report with a virus, but is apparently feeling much better today, and in no danger of not playing. With Roddy white also set to go, Matt Ryan will have his full arsenal of receivers at his disposal.
Sun. Nov 15, 2009 | Fanball
News: As expected, Roddy White (knee) will play on Sunday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Impact: White is coming off his worst game of the season, but can be expected to exceed both the three catches and 27 yards he tallied last Sunday, even against Carolina's staunch pass defense.
Nov 15, 2009 | RotoWire
News: White (knee) is officially active and will start Sunday against Carolina.
Impact: White had just three catches for 27 yards last week but could improve those totals now that his knee has had another week to improve. He is safe to start.
Nov 15, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Snelling (hamstring) is active for Sunday's game against Carolina.
Impact: Jerious Norwood will not play, meaning Snelling will be the top backup to Michael Turner on Sunday.
Nov 15, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Lofton (knee, ankle) is active for Sunday's game against Carolina.
Impact: One of fantasy football's most reliable tacklers is safe to deploy on Sunday.
Nov 15, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Jenkins (illness) is active for Sunday's game against Carolina.
Impact: A decision on Jenkins went all the way up to the last minute, indicating he's still not feeling very well after coming down with a virus on Friday. He's a slightly riskier play than usual as a result.
Nov 15, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Finneran (knee) is inactive for Sunday's game against Carolina.
Impact: Hopefully Finneran and his eight catches are nowhere near your fantasy roster to begin with.
Nov 15, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Norwood (hip) is inactive for Sunday's game against Carolina.
Impact: Norwood missed practice all week to witness the birth of his child and still has a hip injury that's not yet 100 percent. Jason Snelling will be the top backup running back Sunday.
Nov 15, 2009 | RotoWire
News: White (knee) will play Sunday against the Panthers, NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports.
Impact: The Falcons play during the first wave of games Sunday, so White's owners will have the luxury of double checking his status before kickoff.
Nov 15, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Jenkins (undisclosed illness) is feeling better on Sunday morning, ESPN reports. He was added to the injury report as questionable on Saturday.
Impact: He's still going to be a game-time decision, but this makes it seem more likely he'll play.
Sat. Nov 14, 2009 | Fanball
News: Michael Jenkins is questionable for Sunday's game at Carolina with an undisclosed illness, according to the Associated Press.
Impact: The Falcons are really thin at receiver, with Roddy White (knee) and Brian Finneran (knee) also banged up. We may see a heavy dose of Michael Turner, especially since Carolina is ranked 23rd against the run.
Sat. Nov 14, 2009 | Fanball
News: Aaron Stecker has been released by the Falcons, according to Brad Biggs of the National Football Post. The club promoted receiver Troy Bergeron from the practice squad as the adjoining move.
Impact: Stecker became expendable now that Jason Snelling is healthy again. He did not hold any fantasy value during his two-game stint with Atlanta.
Sat. Nov 14, 2009 | Fanball
News: The Falcons promoted receiver Troy Bergeron from their practice squad, according to Brad Biggs of the National Football Post.
Impact: The former Arena League star will provide depth with Brian Finneran and Roddy White both banged up, but is not expected to make an impact against the Panthers, who field the sixth ranked pass defense.
Sat. Nov 14, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Bergeron was signed to the 53-man roster from Atlanta's practice squad with Michael Jenkins coming down with an undisclosed illness, the Associated Press reports.
Impact: He's unlikely to be used in anything but a special teams role this week.
Sat. Nov 14, 2009 | STATS
News: White is listed as questionable for Sunday's game with Carolina because of an injured knee and was limited in all three practices this week.
Impact: White leads the Falcons with 40 receptions for 570 yards and six touchdowns this season.
Sat. Nov 14, 2009 | STATS
News: Jenkins was placed on the Atlanta Falcons' injury report as questionable because of an undisclosed illness Saturday.
Impact: Jenkins, a fourth-year starter and a late first-round pick for Atlanta in 2004, did not miss practice this week. Team spokesman Reggie Roberts said he was not sure the severity of Jenkins' illness.
Sat. Nov 14, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Stecker was released by Atlanta, the Associated Press reports.
Impact: This may be a sign Jason Snelling is healthy enough to play this week. The Falcons needed to add another receiver with Michael Jenkins now questionable due to an illness. Stecker could be re-signed at some point.
Sat. Nov 14, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Jenkins was added to the official injury report as questionable with an undisclosed illness, the Associated Press reports.
Impact: He participated in practice all week, so the illness may have come late. The Falcons signed receiver Troy Bergeron from their practice squad, which is a sign he may not play. Check his status before kickoff.
Fri. Nov 13, 2009 | RotoWire
News: White (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Carolina, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: White was listed as questionable last week and managed to play, so we're not overly concerned, but it certainly merits a verification on Sunday morning if White is one of your guys. Atlanta plays in the first slate of games, meaning we'll have official word on his status no later than an hour before kickoff.
Fri. Nov 13, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Norwood is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Carolina, the Falcons' official site reports. He missed practice all week to witness the birth of his child.
Impact: It's still a little unclear whether Norwood's hip injury would have allowed him to practice anyway. If he can't play, which seems likely at this point, Jason Snelling would be the top backup to Michael Turner.
Fri. Nov 13, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Lofton (knee, ankle) is probable for Sunday's game against Carolina.
Impact: Lofton didn't miss any practice time during the week and should be safe to start against the Panthers. Carolina's run-heavy attack should offer Lofton plenty of tackle opportunities.
Fri. Nov 13, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Finneran (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against Carolina, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: Players usually need to practice at least once to make their way onto the active game-day roster, and Finneran missed all three workouts this week. We'll have final word on his status on Sunday.
Thu. Nov 12, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Norwood (personal, hip) did not practice Thursday, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: It won't be until Friday's official injury report until we know if either Norwood's hip injury or his family commitments will keep him out of action in Week 10.
Thu. Nov 12, 2009 | RotoWire
News: White (knee) was limited at practice Thursday, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: There's been nothing to suggest that White's Week 10 status is in any danger, but we'll let you know if that assessment changes.
Thu. Nov 12, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Coach Mike Smith said "it's probably going to go down to the wire" on whether Finneran (left knee) will play Sunday against Panthers, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact: Finneran is averaging just one catch a game, so he's not the sort of player most owners need to wait on for game-time decision news Sunday.
Wed. Nov 11, 2009 | RotoWire
News: White (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: White played in last week's game, so we're not too worried about his Week 10 status, although the matchup against Carolina's sixth-ranked pass defense should make you temper your expectations a bit.
Wed. Nov 11, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Snelling (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: Snelling may be able to return this week after missing a couple of days with his hamstring injury. Jerious Norwood (hip) could also return, so Snelling's impact may be limited.
Wed. Nov 11, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Norwood (hip) missed practice Wednesday to witness the birth of his child, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact: Norwood's hip injury may not have allowed him to practice anyway, so we'll have to wait at least another day or two before we know more about his Week 10 status.
Wed. Nov 11, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Lofton (knee, ankle) participated fully in practice Wednesday, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: Lofton was able to play with the injury last week (eight tackles in a win over Washington) and we imagine he'll be fine for Week 10.
Wed. Nov 11, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Finneran (knee) did not practice Wednesday, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: Hopefully you aren't banking on Finneran and his seven receptions, but if you are, you'll likely need to wait until later in the week before we know more about his status.
Mon. Nov 9, 2009 | STATS
News: Gonzalez had give catches for 41 yards and a touchdown in a 31-17 win over Washington on Sunday.
Impact: The veteran's numbers haven't been outstanding by his standards this season, his first with Atlanta, but he has contributed something most weeks. He now has four touchdowns and 434 receiving yards, including more than 40 in six of his eight games.
Mon. Nov 9, 2009 | STATS
News: White had a quiet Sunday, held to three catches for 27 yards in the Falcons' 31-17 win over Washington.
Impact: It was the first game without a touchdown since Week 3 for White, who has spoiled his owners with his consistency and occasional explosiveness. It appears the struggles of Matt Ryan caught up with White, but he'll try to rebound against Carolina on Sunday.
Mon. Nov 9, 2009 | STATS
News: Turner had a season-high 166 yards rushing, including two long touchdowns, and Atlanta snapped a two-game losing streak by beating the Washington Redskins 31-17.
Impact: The last two weeks, which have featured 317 yards and three touchdowns, have been great for Turner owners. Turner is now second in the NFL with 10 touchdowns and is on pace to come close to a 1,500-yard season, keeping him among the best fantasy options out there.
Mon. Nov 9, 2009 | STATS
News: Ryan was held to a season-low 135 yards passing in a 31-17 win over Washington on Sunday.
Impact: He threw one touchdown but also had another interception, his eighth in the last four games. Atlanta rode the strong running of Michael Turner, and that strategy could continue if Ryan keeps struggling. He's not looking like a good fantasy option at the moment going into the Falcons' meeting with Carolina on Sunday.
Nov 8, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Peterson led the Falcons linebackers with eight tackles during Sunday's win over Washington.
Impact: Peterson has really gelled in Atlanta. He's among the team leaders in tackles.
Nov 8, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Babineaux led the Falcons with nine tackles and 2.5 sacks against the Redskins on Sunday.
Impact: Babineaux is having one of the best seasons of his career so far in terms of sacks and tackles, but there are better IDP options available.
Nov 8, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Elam connected with a 33-yard field goal and nailed four extra points in the Falcons 31-17 victory over Washington
Impact: Elam's field goal attempts have been few and far between so far in 2009. His accuracy has definitely taken a hit after his career year last season.
Nov 8, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Jenkins had one catch for five yards in Sunday's win over the Redskins.
Impact: Jenkins has been a disappointment this season. He leads the Falcons in dropped passes, and is not seeing the wealth of passes he saw in years past now that Tony Gonzalez has emerged as the clear No. 2 target for Matt Ryan. We recommend you bench Jenkins and go with someone else until he gets his confidence back.
Nov 8, 2009 | RotoWire
News: White had just three catches for 27 yards and no scores in Sunday's 31-17 rout over the Redskins.
Impact: The Falcons had a sizable lead at half time and went to the run for the crux of the game. White had a few very strong games leading up to Sunday, and is well on his way to another 1000-yard season.
Nov 8, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Gonzalez led the Falcons with five catches for 41 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 31-17 victory over Washington.
Impact: The Falcons jumped out to an early lead and went to a heavy rushing game plan. Quarterback Matt Ryan has full confidence in Gonzalez and will continue to go to him often for the rest of the season.
Nov 8, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Turner had 18 carries for 166 yards and two scores in the Falcons' 31-17 rout of the Redskins.
Impact: The Falcons went back to the run on Sunday after having much success with it on Monday. Turner may have gotten off to a slow start, but he's been running up the stat sheets as of late.
Nov 8, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Ryan passed 17-for-24 for 135 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the Falcons 31-17 win over Washington.
Impact: The Falcons jumped out to an early lead and went to a run-heavy attack against a struggling Redskins defense. After a tough game against the Saints, along with the shortened week, Ryan responded well on Sunday. Keep Ryan active against division foe Carolina next week.
Nov 8, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Finneran headed to the locker room Sunday with a knee injury, the Associated Press reports.
Impact: More on his status as it's available, but Finneran entered the game with seven catches in seven games, so his fantasy impact is clearly minimal.
Nov 8, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Jason Snelling and Jerious Norwood are both inactive again on Sunday, so Stecker will likely handle third-down duties behind Michael Turner against Washington.
Impact: Stecker caught two passes for 12 yards against the Saints on Monday night in the same role.
Nov 8, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Abraham (foot) is active for Sunday's game against the Redskins.
Impact: Abraham is going to play, but his production this season has not been what it once was and the foot injury certainly does not help.
Nov 8, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Snelling (hamstring) is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the Redskins.
Impact: Snelling is apparently not even healthy enough to serve as the primary backup to Michael Turner on Sunday. With Jerious Norwood also out, it appears Aaron Stecker would be the next in line to get some carries.
Nov 8, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Norwood (hip) is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the Redskins.
Impact: Not a big surprise as he wasn't able to participate in practice all week.
Nov 8, 2009 | RotoWire
News: White (knee) is active and will start Sunday versus the Redskins.
Impact: The injury should not limit White at all in this game, so feel free to use him against a Redskins team that has not had a good season.
Fri. Nov 6, 2009 | RotoWire
News: White (questionable, knee) returned to practice Friday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. "I anticipate (him) being ready to go on Sunday afternoon," coach Mike Smith said.
Impact: The Falcons have an early afternoon start, providing fantasy owners with enough time to cycle in a replacement if White is listed as inactive. We don't expect that to happen, however, so you don't need to be overly concerned about leaving White in your lineup this week.
Fri. Nov 6, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Snelling (hamstring) was limited in Friday's practice and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Washington, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: Jerious Norwood (hip) has missed practice all week and will probably sit out at least another game. If Snelling can play, he'll probably be the top backup to Michael Turner.
Fri. Nov 6, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Norwood (hip) missed practice again Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Washington, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: Norwood did not practice for the second consecutive week, and we'd be surprised to see him in uniform against the Redskins. Jason Snelling has a decent chance to return this week, so there isn't a pressing need for Norwood anyway.
Fri. Nov 6, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Lofton (knee, ankle) was limited in Friday's practice and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Washington, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: We'll have word on Lofton's status Sunday morning once the inactive list is released. His participation in practice is a good sign, and assuming he does play, he'll continue to be an elite IDP option.
Fri. Nov 6, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Abraham (foot) was limited in Friday's practice and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Washington, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: Abraham's production has been spotty of late, and this foot injury doesn't make us any more comfortable about recommending him. The Falcons do play in the first wave of kickoffs, so if you do plan to use him, at least you'll know Sunday morning whether he'll be available.
Fri. Nov 6, 2009 | STATS
News: Ryan has shown his human side over the last three weeks, throwing seven interceptions after being picked off just 13 times in his first 20 regular-season games.
Impact: Not all were his fault, of course. There were protection issues and tipped balls and receivers not always running the proper route. But it all comes back to the quarterback, the guy known as Matty Ice. "You've got to ride the ebb and flow of a season," Ryan said. "There's going to be ups and downs. It's a long, long year. At the end of it, you look back and kind of judge how you did."
Thu. Nov 5, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Abraham (foot) was limited at practice Thursday, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: More on his status Friday, but with 16 tackles and three sacks in seven games, Abraham is well off his usual pace.
Thu. Nov 5, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Snelling (hamstring) was limited at practice Thursday, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: More on Snelling's status Friday, but it looks like he has a better chance of returning this week than fellow Michael Turner backup Jerious Norwood.
Thu. Nov 5, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Norwood (hip) did not practice Thursday, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: We'll check back on his status Friday, but Norwood looks iffy, at best, for Week 9.
Thu. Nov 5, 2009 | RotoWire
News: White (knee) did not practice Thursday, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: There's not much in the way of details here, but we should know more after practice Friday once the Falcons are required to release their official injury report.
Wed. Nov 4, 2009 | RotoWire
News: The Falcons signed Peprah on Wednesday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact: He'll add depth in the secondary while providing a replacement for Jamaal Fudge (IR, knee) on the Falcons' roster.
Wed. Nov 4, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Fudge was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday due to a knee injury, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact: Charlies Peprah was signed to replace Fudge on the Falcons' roster.
Wed. Nov 4, 2009 | RotoWire
News: White (knee) did not practice Wednesday, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: The Falcons have a short week coming off their Monday night loss to the Saints, so it's possible that White is simply a bit sore from that contest. We haven't heard anything to suggest that this is an injury that will keep him out of any games, but we'll keep you posted.
Wed. Nov 4, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Snelling (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: Snelling and Jerious Norwood sat out Monday night's loss to New Orleans and neither was able to practice on Wednesday. If neither improves in time to suit up this week, Aaron Stecker will spend another game as the lone backup to Michael Turner.
Wed. Nov 4, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Norwood (hip) did not practice Wednesday, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: Atlanta is looking at another week without both Norwood and Jason Snelling (hamstring) if neither shows improvement in practice this week. Both missed Monday night's game against New Orleans, leaving Aaron Stecker as the top backup to Michael Turner.
Wed. Nov 4, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Lofton (knee, ankle) did not practice Wednesday, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: This is the first we've heard of this injury, so we'll keep a close eye on it leading up to Sunday's game against Washington. Lofton has been a tackling machine this season.
Wed. Nov 4, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Abraham (foot) did not practice Wednesday, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: The foot injury doesn't seem to be a major problem, but Abraham was nearly invisible on Monday night (no tackles, no sacks). He doesn't have a sack since Week 2 and continues to lose appeal in IDP leagues.
Tue. Nov 3, 2009 | STATS
News: Gonzalez had six catches for 89 yards in the Falcons' 35-27 loss at New Orleans on Monday night.
Impact: Gonzalez had at least four catches for the fourth straight week, even though he's only scored once in his last five games. Look for him to be a red-zone target more in the coming weeks with Matt Ryan struggling.
Tue. Nov 3, 2009 | STATS
News: White had four catches for 108 yards and a touchdown in the Falcons' 35-27 loss at New Orleans on Monday night.
Impact: White's touchdown catch was impressive and another he nearly caught would have been even better. It's the fourth straight game White has scored and look for many more, particularly with Carolina and Washington on the schedule the next few weeks.
Tue. Nov 3, 2009 | STATS
News: Ryan was intercepted three times, his third consecutive game with at least two picks, and finished 19 of 42 for 289 yards Monday night in the Falcons' 35-27 loss at New Orleans.
Impact: "I'm not concerned at all,'' coach Mike Smith said of his second-year quarterback. "We're going to be judged on 16 games. Not one game and not three games.'' Ryan could have better luck the next few weeks against Carolina and Washington.
Tue. Nov 3, 2009 | STATS
News: Turner had 151 yards rushing, including a 13-yard touchdown, in the Falcons' 35-27 loss in New Orleans on Monday night.
Impact: Turner has been a huge disappointment after his breakout 2008 season, but this performance is a good sign. Look for it to continue the next two weeks as Atlanta faces Carolina and Washington.
Mon. Nov 2, 2009 | RotoWire
News: White had four catches for 108 yards and a touchdown in Atlanta's 35-27 loss to the Saints on Monday night.
Impact: The touchdown came on an impressive catch of a punt-like toss down the right sideline, as White played through some contact, hauled it in and managed to stay in bounds en route to pay dirt. He wasn't able to work quite the same miracle on a red-zone target when he was wide open but had to dive in an attempt to bring in a Matt Ryan misfire.
Mon. Nov 2, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Turner carried 20 times for 151 yards and a touchdown in Atlanta's 35-27 loss to the Saints on Monday night.
Impact: The Turner of 2008 finally showed up, as he got to the edge repeatedly against a fast New Orleans defense. Had the Falcons not been playing from behind for much of the second half, Turner could have easily piled up 200 yards in this one.
Mon. Nov 2, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Gonazalez hauled in six passes for 89 yards in Atlanta's 35-27 loss to the Saints on Monday night.
Impact: Gonzalez was Matt Ryan's featured receiver most of the night but never really got any clean red-zone looks despite getting Atlanta getting into the Saints' territory on several occasions.
Mon. Nov 2, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Ryan completed 19-of-42 passes for 289 yards and a touchdown with three interceptions in Atlanta's 35-27 loss to the Saints on Monday night.
Impact: Not to put too fine of a point on it, but Ryan was the primary reason Atlanta couldn't keep pace with the Saints' offense in Monday night's shootout. While one of his interceptions came on a Hail Mary at the end of the game, Ryan still threw two other costly picks (one that was returned for a touchdown and one that ended a Falcons drive) and completed only 45.2 percent of his passes. While Ryan is still in a great situation and has undeniable talent, he has seemed to take a step back the past two weeks.
Mon. Nov 2, 2009 | RotoWire
News: With both Jason Snelling and Jerious Norwood inactive on Monday night, Stecker will be the top backup to Michael Turner.
Impact: Stecker was brought on board just last week, so it's unlikely he'll play a very prominent role unless Michael Turner goes down with an injury. Turner will receive most, if not all, of the carries.
Mon. Nov 2, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Mughelli (calf) is active for Monday's game against New Orleans.
Impact: Michael Turner's lead blocker will be back in business Monday night.
Mon. Nov 2, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Abraham (foot) is active for Monday's game against New Orleans.
Impact: Abraham isn't nearly the fantasy option he was last year, but he'll be ready to go on Monday night if you need him.

News: Snelling (hamstring) is inactive for Monday's game against New Orleans.
Impact: With both Snelling and Jerious Norwood inactive against the Saints, the Falcons will be perilously thin at running back. Aaron Stecker, who signed with the team last Tuesday, is the lone backup to starter Michael Turner.
Mon. Nov 2, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Norwood (hip) is inactive for Monday's game against New Orleans.
Impact: Jason Snelling will not play either, leaving Aaron Stecker as the primary backup to Michael Turner.
Sat. Oct 31, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Abraham (foot) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Saints.
Impact: He was limited at practice again Sunday, so check back on his status before kickoff if he is one of your IDPs.
Sat. Oct 31, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Stecker will be active for Monday night's game against the Saints, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact: He'll be needed Monday with both Jason Snelling and Jerious Norwood listed as questionable after not having practiced this week.
Sat. Oct 31, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Snelling (hamstring) did not practice Saturday and is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Saints, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact: With Jerious Norwood also questionable, it looks like newly-signed Aaron Stecker will be pressed into duty this week as Michael Turner's backup.

News: Norwood (hip) did not practice Saturday and is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Saints, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact: With no practice this week, Norwood is looking pretty iffy. Jason Snelling is also in the same boat, so it looks like Aaron Stecker will be used as Michael Turner's backup Monday.

News: Atlanta has placed Moore on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.
Impact: Williams, a second-round pick from Missouri, is latest Falcons defensive back to suffer an injury. Brian Williams suffered a season-ending knee injury against Chicago.
Fri. Oct 30, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Snelling (hamstring) did not practice again Friday, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: Neither Snelling nor Jerious Norwood has practiced this week, which helps explain why the Saints added Aaron Stecker on Tuesday. Saturday's injury report will likely shed some light on the backup RB situation.
Fri. Oct 30, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Norwood (hip) missed practice on Friday, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: Atlanta is hoping Norwood will exhibit enough improvement to play Monday against the Saints, but after two straight days of no practice, we're not as confident. The Falcons will release their final injury report Saturday.
Fri. Oct 30, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Abraham (foot) was again limited in practice Friday, the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact: After a dominant 2008 season, Abraham has been a fantasy disappointment in 2009. Still, he's capable of turning things around at any point. The Falcons will release a final injury report on Saturday, but Abraham is expected to play Monday night.
Thu. Oct 29, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Abraham (foot) was limited at practice Thursday.
Impact: Abraham has just three sacks and 16 tackles in six games thus far, but he is of course capable of racking up sacks when he's right.
Thu. Oct 29, 2009 | RotoWire
News: The Falcons are hoping to get Norwood (right hip flexor) back for Monday's game against the Saints, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact: Norwood did not practice on Thursday though, so we'll have to see what he can do in the next couple of days before getting a good read on his Week 8 status.
Thu. Oct 29, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Snelling (hamstring) did not practice on Thursday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact: His injury likely led to the Falcons signing Aaron Stecker on Tuesday for added depth behind Michael Turner. More on Snelling's status for the Monday game in the coming days, but even if he does play, the potential return of Jerious Norwood negates some of his value as a Turner insurance policy.
Tue. Oct 27, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Stecker signed with the Falcons on Tuesday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact: Stecker played for the Saints last season but was placed on injured reserve towards the end of the year and has been an unrestricted free agent since then. He'll be the third running back in Atlanta behind Michael Turner and Jason Snelling while backup Jerious Norwood is out.
Tue. Oct 27, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Moore (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact: The reserve safety has been battling a hamstring injury throughout the season. Running back Aaron Stecker was signed to take his roster spot.

News: Ryan failed to top 200 yards for the third game this season but had two touchdowns for the third straight game in Sunday's 37-21 loss at Dallas.
Impact: Despite averaging 227 yards this season, Ryan has two or more touchdowns in all but one game this season, but he's also had five of his six interceptions in the last three contests.
Mon. Oct 26, 2009 | STATS
News: In Atlanta's 37-21 loss at Dallas on Sunday, Snelling rushed for a career-best 68 yards on seven carries with most of that coming on a 31-yard run
Impact: If Jerious Norwood remains out, Snelling could become a decent second option for the Falcons behind Michael Turner, who finished with 50 yards on 18 carries Sunday.
Mon. Oct 26, 2009 | STATS
News: White scored for the third straight game and finished with 50 yards on six catches in the Falcons' 37-21 loss in Dallas on Sunday.
Impact: White has four TDs during his streak and is tied for second in the league with five receiving scores. He also has a team-best 33 catches for 435 yards this season. He has at least 50 yards in four games.
Mon. Oct 26, 2009 | STATS
News: Turner's slump continued in Sunday's 37-21 loss at Dallas as he gained just 50 yards on 18 carries. He did score on a 2-yard run in the third quarter.
Impact: That performance came a week after Turner was limited to 30 yards on 13 carries by a Chicago defense that allowed Cincinnati's Cedric Benson to rush for a career-best 189 yards this week. Turner, however, has had no problem finding the end zone. He has scored in five straight games and is tied for second in the league with seven rushing TDs.
Oct 25, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Turner (chest) is active for Sunday's game against the Cowboys.
Impact: His starting fullback Ovie Mughelli won't play on Sunday, but even a downgrade in Turner's blocking won't be enough to consider sitting him in any formats.
Oct 25, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Mughelli (calf) is inactive for Sunday's game against Dallas.
Impact: Most of his contributions come in the form of big blocks for Michael Turner, but he won't be available for that role on Sunday.
Oct 25, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Norwood (hip) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Cowboys.
Impact: Jason Snelling will back up Michael Turner against Dallas on Sunday. We'll revisit Norwood's status next week.
Oct 25, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Lofton had just three tackles in the losing effort to Dallas on Sunday.
Impact: It was a strangely quiet game for Lofton, who lights up the tackle totals on a weekly basis. Keep with him as your IDP, regardless.
Oct 25, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Abraham had just one tackle with no sacks on Sunday against the Cowboys.
Impact: If you still have Abraham as an IDP on your team, you'd be better off looking elsewhere.
Oct 25, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Coleman had nine tackles in Sunday's loss to the Dallas.
Impact: If Tony Romo was able to pick apart the Falcons for over 300 yards and three touchdowns, we shudder to think what Drew Brees and the Saints are going to do next week.
Oct 25, 2009 | RotoWire
News: DeCoud followed up last week's stellar outing with another decent showing on Sunday, recording eight tackles and recording a sack in the losing effort to Dallas.
Impact: Tony Romo was still able to pick apart the defense passing 21-of-29 for 311 yards and three scores, so DeCoud and the Falcons have plenty of work to do. If the Falcons' secondary was this bad against Romo and the struggling Cowboys, it could be a very long game for them against the Saints in New Orleans next week.
Oct 25, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Elam had three extra points and no field goals in the Falcons loss to Dallas on Sunday.
Impact: Elam is still just at four field goals on the season, which is a bit disconcerting to his owners after such an impressive season last year. It may be time to start looking elsewhere for a kicker.
Oct 25, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Jenkins had two catches for 22 yards in a losing effort to the Cowboys on Sunday.
Impact: Jenkins is having a quiet year -- a lot more quiet than we projected at the start of the season. We're going to call Jenkins a low-end flex start until we start to see some consistency.
Oct 25, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Weems made two catches for 33 yards and scored his first-career touchdown on Sunday against the Cowboys.
Impact: Weems may be No. 5 on the Falcons wide receiver depth chart, but he was in the right place at the right time on his touchdown grab. With Harry Douglas (ACL) out for the year, Weems is the Falcons' top speed receiver on the roster. However, Weems has a lot more to prove to us to really deserve a start in your fantasy league.
Oct 25, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Gonzalez had four catches for 37 yards in Sunday's loss to the Cowboys.
Impact: The Falcons' offensive line failed to protect Matt Ryan sufficiently in a hard-fought game, which made Gonzalez's numbers suffer. In what's billed to be a shoot-out type of game, keep Gonzalez active against the Saints next week.
Oct 25, 2009 | RotoWire
News: White caught six passes for 50 yards and scored a touchdown in the 21-37 loss to the Cowboys.
Impact: White was really the high-point in a very lackluster effort from the Falcons offense on Sunday. After a sluggish start to the year, White is back on track for another Pro Bowl-caliber season.
Oct 25, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Snelling had seven carries and led the Falcons with 68 yards rushing in a losing effort to the Cowboys.
Impact: With Jerious Norwood (knee) out for some time, Snelling's fantasy stock is as high as it's going to get with Michael Turner healthy. Snelling has been featured in running plays more so than Norwood this season, and is good for a flex play in certain scenarios. In what's billed to be a shoot-out affair against the Saints next week, Snelling may be a good sleeper selection in Week 8.
Oct 25, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Turner had 18 carries for 50 yards and scored a touchdown in a 21-37 losing effort to the Cowboys.
Impact: The Dallas defensive line manhandled the Falcons offensive line, keeping Turner under wraps on the ground throughout this game. Jason Snelling, Turner's backup, was able to amass 68 yards on seven carries, but Turner was not penetrating the defense as we've seen in past games. On the whole, Turner's numbers are way down from his totals from last season up to this point, but we expected this heading into the 2009 year. Even while mildly injured in this contest, there's no way you can bench Turner knowing what he's capable of doing on the ground -- he just had a difficult defense to contend with. Next week's game is against the Saints, which is sure to be a high-scoring affair.
Oct 25, 2009 | RotoWire
News: Ryan passed 19-of-35 for 198 yards with two touchdowns and threw two interceptions during Sunday's loss to the Cowboys. He also fumbled twice, recovering one.
Impact: Dallas brought the pass rush after the Falcons held opposing defenses sack-less for the previous three games. Ryan was sacked four times, and was knocked over and hurried much more than any other time this season. Had he had any protection, the outcome could have been much better. Ryan and the Falcons take on current division leader New Orleans in what's sure to be another shoot-out game next week.
