Fri. Mar 19, 2010 |
Fanball
News: Chester Pitts is visiting the 49ers, according to Matt Maioco's (Santa Rosa Press-Democrat) twitter page.
Impact: Pitts was a quality offensive lineman prior to suffering a season-ending knee injury with Houston in 2009. The team that inks him will be taking a chance that he will bounce back fine. He was also slated to visit Detroit. Wade Smith - #74 - Center - 6'4" - 296lbs
Thu. Mar 11, 2010 |
STATS
News: Smith, an unrestricted free agent courted for his versatility, has agreed to terms with the Houston Texans, his Nashville-based agent, Brian Parker, confirmed. Smith's four-year deal includes $6.25 million in guaranteed money in the first year and averages about $3 million a season.
Impact: An eight-year veteran who started 16 games over the last two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, Smith is expected to challenge for a starting job at guard or center with the Texans. He also was courted by the Buffalo Bills and Arizona Cardinals. Wade Smith - #74 - Center - 6'4" - 296lbs

RotoWire
News: The Texans signed Smith to a four-year contract, the Associated Press reports.
Impact: Smith has played just about every position on the offensive line throughout his career, but none of them especially well. He played center at Kansas City last year after starting his career with the Dolphins as a tackle, but he will start at either center or guard for Houston in 2010. Wade Smith - #74 - Center - 6'4" - 296lbs

News: Smith will meet with the Cardinals on Tuesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Impact: If he signs with Arizona, Smith will probably come off the bench. He has a lot of experience, having played in 74 games (34 starts) over the past seven seasons. Kevin Walter - #83 - Wide Receiver - 6'3" - 218lbs
Mon. Mar 8, 2010 |
STATS
News: Walter has been re-signed by the Houston Texans. Terms were not disclosed Monday.

Walter, who has started 45 games in the last three seasons, signed with the Texans after three seasons in Cincinnati. Matt Turk - #1 - Punter - 6'5" - 251lbs
Mon. Mar 8, 2010 |
STATS
News: Turk has been re-signed by the Houston Texans. Terms were not disclosed Monday.

Fri. Mar 5, 2010 |
RotoWire
News: Walter became an unrestricted free agent.
Impact: There will no doubt be some interest in Walter, who didn't get as much work with the Texans in 2009 as he did in 2008. John Busing - #40 - Safety - 6'2" - 218lbs
Fri. Mar 5, 2010 |
RotoWire
News: Busing was not tendered by the Texans, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact: Busing becomes an unrestricted free agent. Bernard Pollard - #31 - Safety - 6'1" - 224lbs
Fri. Mar 5, 2010 |
RotoWire
News: The Texans first-round tendered Pollard for $2.521 million, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact: Pollard started 13 games at strong safety for the Texans last season and the defense improved once he entered the starting lineup. Should another team sign him and the Texans refuse to match, they will receive a first-round draft pick as compensation. Ryan Moats - #21 - Running back - 5'8" - 210lbs
Thu. Mar 4, 2010 |
RotoWire
News: Moats, a restricted free agent, was original-round tendered by the Texans, reports the Houston Chronicle.
Impact: The Texans will therefore get a third round pick as compensation if Moats is signed instead by another team. Assuming he stays in Texans, he should remain as a backup that gets his share of carries when the stars align. Bernard Pollard - #31 - Safety - 6'1" - 224lbs
Thu. Mar 4, 2010 |
STATS
News: The Houston Texans have tendered offers to Pollard and six other restricted free agents.
Impact: Pollard joined the team in late September and immediately stepped into a starting role to become a key piece of Houston's improving defense. He had 102 tackles, 1 1/2 sacks and four interceptions to help the Texans to their first winning season. Owen Daniels - #81 - Tight End - 6'3" - 250lbs
Thu. Mar 4, 2010 |
STATS

Thu. Mar 4, 2010 |
STATS
News: The Houston Texans have tendered offers to Pro Bowl middle linebacker DeMeco Ryans and six other restricted free agents.
Impact: Ryans, the 2006 Defensive Rookie of Year, had 123 tackles and a sack last season. DeMeco Ryans - #59 - Linebacker - 6'1" - 250lbs
Thu. Mar 4, 2010 |
RotoWire
News: Ryans was offered the maximum tender by the Texans, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Impact: Ryans will net $3.168 million next season provided another team doesn't sign him away, in which case the Texans would receive a first and a third round pick as compensation. It is incredibly unlikely they would let their young defensive leader leave town, however. Owen Daniels - #81 - Tight End - 6'3" - 250lbs
Thu. Mar 4, 2010 |
RotoWire
News: Owens (knee) has received a $3.168 million contract tender from the Texans, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact: If another team signs Daniels to an offer sheet and the Texans don't match it, they'd receive first- and third-round picks as compensation. He's coming off an ACL injury, so that scenario doesn't seem too likely, though there are whispers he might consider sitting out training camp to protest his tender offer. |
