News: The Colts signed Brown, who had been playing in the Arena Football League, the Indianapolis Star reports.
Impact: Brown will try to win a job on special teams, but there may be opportunity to win a role elsewhere with the Colts rebuilding the defense.

News: Vaughn was traded to the Colts in exchange for Chris Gronkowski, the Broncos team website reports.
Impact: Vaughn has played in 22 NFL games, registering 22 tackles and one interception that he returned for a touchdown. He could win one of the two return jobs. He could also win a significant role in the secondary as the second cornerback role and nickelback will likely be in flux.

News: Indy claimed Taylor off waivers from Philadelphia on Friday. The guard is the third former Eagles lineman brought in by general manager Ryan Grigson, who worked in Philadelphia's front office before taking the Colts job in January.
Impact: Taylor is a 6-foot-2, 309-pound guard who was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Jets in 2011. He joined the Buccaneers practice squad in September, before signing with Philadelphia's practice squad in November.

News: Taylor was released by the Eagles on Thursday, Jeff McLane reports.
Impact: Taylor was released after spending 2011 on the Eagles' practice squad. He was released to make room for undrafted offensive lineman Alfred McCullough from Alabama.

News: Legree has signed with the Colts.
Impact: Legree, who was an undrafted free agent out of Hampton University, will need a break or two to crack the Colts' roster, though perhaps he could land on the team's practice squad.

News: Hilton (quadriceps) did not participate in on-field drills in Wednesday's OTAs, the Indianapolis Star reports.
Impact: Hilton missed workouts earlier in May with a sore hamstring and it's not clear if the two injuries are related. This injury is likely minor, but it's not reassuring, since he had a checkered injury history in college. Hilton could win a significant role in the Indy passing game and on special teams as a returner, if healthy.

News: Carter required surgery to repair a thumb injury and did not participate in on-field drills in Wednesday's OTAs, the Indianapolis Star reports.
Impact: He'll likely be fine by the time training camp begins, but it's something to watch since he had fumbling issues last season that reduced his playing time in the second half of the season. Carter will compete with Donald Brown and Vick Ballard for playing time this summer.

News: Ballard agreed to a four-year, $2.24 million contract with the Colts, Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times reports.
Impact: Ballard will compete with Donald Brown and Delone Carter for the bulk of the Colts' tailback duties. Neither Brown nor Carter were particularly outstanding in their opportunities last season, meaning Ballard could see a fair share of carries during the season with a strong training camp.

News: Harnish (knee) may miss two to three weeks according to Colts beat writer Mike Chappell.
Impact: As "Mr. Irrelevant" of the 2012 draft, Harnish doesn't look to be competing for any playing time, however. If he wants a roster spot he'll have to fix this knee up and perform well in training camp come August.

News: Smith was claimed off waivers by Indianapolis from Chicago.
Impact: He'll compete for a special teams and deep reserve role this summer.
