News: A person familiar with the deal says quarterback Josh Freeman has agreed to terms with the New York Giants. The person spoke on condition of anonymity Wednesday because the team had not announced the move.
Impact: Freeman was cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in October after a messy split. He signed with Minnesota four days later, but played just one game for the Vikings. That happened to come against the Giants, when he went 20 for 53 for 190 yards and one interception in the ugly 23-7 Monday night loss. Freeman would compete to back up Eli Manning with the Giants.

News: Reisner has signed with Vikings, Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union reports.
Impact: Reisner, who caught five passes for 40 yards in five games for the Jaguars in 2013, returns to the Vikings (for whom he played in 2011-12) to provide the team with TE depth after a two-year stint with Jacksonville.

News: Rudolph's left foot has been fully healed for about two months, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
Impact: Rudolph, who was limited to eight games in 2013 after suffering a fractured foot on Nov. 3, finished up the season with 30 catches for 313 yards and three touchdowns. The report adds that the tight end has been studying tape of the Browns from last season in order to become more familiar with how he might be used in (new coordinator) Norv Turner's offense, a system in which fellow tight ends Jordan Cameron and Antonio Gates (while Turner was with the Chargers) have been productive.

News: Coleman agreed to a contract with Minnesota, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Impact: Coleman moved to a reserve role last year with the Eagles and played on special teams, so he may just add depth for the Vikings. However, Jamarca Sanford is hardly secure as a starter at free safety, so a chance for more playing time could emerge.

News: The Minnesota Vikings have signed former Philadelphia Eagles safety Kurt Coleman. The contract was finalized Thursday. Coleman agreed to the deal Monday after visiting team headquarters last week.
Impact: The seventh-round draft pick in 2010 out of Ohio State played the last four seasons for the Eagles, starting 29 of the 59 games he played in, though none of those starts came last year. Coleman's best season was 2011, when he had four interceptions, five passes defended and one forced fumble. In 2012, he was second on the team with a career-best 105 tackles despite missing two games.

News: Peterson, who is bouncing back from January groin surgery, expects to participate in the Vikings' offseason workouts, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Impact: While Peterson indicated that he can't put a specific date on his return, he suggested that he's headed in the right direction on that front. "I can't say I'm back right now," Peterson said, "but I'm not far off that at all." The Vikings' voluntary minicamp runs from April 29-May 1, while the team's offseason workouts are slated to take place in late May and early June.

News: Peterson is still working his way back from offseason groin surgery. He says he is eager to rejoin his Minnesota Vikings teammates for the team's offseason program once his body is ready.
Impact: Peterson played in 14 games last season and rushed for 1,266 yards and 10 touchdowns. But he injured his groin in November and Peterson says that contributed to a foot injury that slowed him toward the end of the season. The Vikings opened their offseason conditioning program under new coach Mike Zimmer on Monday. Peterson has not been present because he is still rehabbing in Texas.

News: Minnesota signed Jean, announcing the deal Tuesday.
Impact: Jean is entering his fourth season. He joins a receiving corps that appears pretty well stocked with Greg Jennings, Cordarrelle Patterson, Jerome Simpson and Jarius Wright. The 6-foot-3 receiver spent his rookie season in 2011 on injured reserve. He caught 10 passes for 186 yards and a touchdown in 27 games for the Texans over the last two seasons.

News: The Vikings have signed Jean, cbslocal.com reports.
Impact: Jean, who caught just four passes for 35 yards for the Texans this past season, brings good size (6-3, 202-pounds) to the table, but for now he slots in as a depth guy at wideout for the Vikings behind the likes of Greg Jennings, Cordarrelle Patterson, Jerome Simpson and Jarius Wright.
