Marques Colston - #12 - Wide Receiver - 6'4" - 225lbs
Sun. Nov 22, 2009 |
Fanball
News: Marques Colston helped lead the Saints in today's 38-7 win at Tampa Bay, as he caught a game-high five passes for 74 yards.
Impact: Colston had not reached the endzone in three straight games, but at least he was productive in the yardage department today. He had his best output since Week 8, when he caught six passes for 85 yards against Atlanta. Pierre Thomas - #23 - Running back - 5'11" - 215lbs
Sun. Nov 22, 2009 |
Fanball
News: Pierre Thomas ran well in today's 38-7 win at Tampa Bay, as he racked up 92 yards on 11 carries. He also had three catches for 11 receiving yards.
Impact: Thomas had 103 total yards, despite only touching the ball 14 times. He would hold much more fantasy value if the Saints would just let him handle a bigger workload in the offense. Drew Brees - #9 - Quarterback - 6'0" - 209lbs
Sun. Nov 22, 2009 |
Fanball
News: Drew Brees and the Saints continue to roll, as he completed 19-of-29 passes for 187 yards and three touchdown passes in Sunday's 38-7 win at Tampa Bay. He did not throw an interception.
Impact: Brees has thrown three or more touchdown passes for the fourth time, and collected 22 for the season. The Saints remain unbeaten at 10-0. Leigh Torrence - #24 - Cornerback - 5'11" - 179lbs
Sun. Nov 22, 2009 |
Fanball
News: Leigh Torrence exited the game at Tampa Bay in the fourth quarter with a seperated shoulder.
Impact: At this point, the Saints are dangerously thin at cornerback and might have to sign some bodies off the street. Torrence is questionable to return. Randall Gay - #20 - Cornerback - 5'11" - 190lbs
Sun. Nov 22, 2009 |
Fanball
News: Randall Gay exited today's game at Tampa Bay with an apparent hamstring injury.
Impact: This is a tough loss for the Saints, as they are already without cornerbacks Tracy Porter and Jabari Greer. Gay's return is uncertain. Mike Bell - #21 - Running back - 6'0" - 225lbs
Sun. Nov 22, 2009 |
Fanball
News: Mike Bell limped off the field in the first half of today's game at Tampa Bay.
Impact: Bell may have injured his knee, but his status is yet to be updated. Pierre Thomas could see some extra carries while Bell is out. Sedrick Ellis - #98 - Defensive Tackle - 6'1" - 305lbs
Sun. Nov 22, 2009 |
Fanball
News: Saints inactives: K Garrett Hartley, WR Lance Moore, CB Tracy Porter, RB Reggie Bush, CB Chris McAlister, CB Jabari Greer, OLB Jonathan Casillas, DT Sedrick Ellis.
Impact: Rookie Malcolm Jenkins will start at cornerback in place of the injured Porter. John Carney will remain the placekicker with Hartley inactive. Rising star Robert Meachem will continue to see more pass targets with Moore out. Pierre Thomas will also see more touches with Bush inactive. Ellis will be a key loss at defensive tackle, and the Buccaneers' offense could benefit from his absence. Darren Sharper - #42 - Safety - 6'2" - 210lbs
Sun. Nov 22, 2009 |
Fanball
News: Darren Sharper will return to the starting lineup today at Tampa Bay after missing Week 10 with a knee injury, according to Adam Schefter's (ESPN) twitter page.
Impact: Sharper should be fine to employ in IDP lineups. He is having a great year in New Orleans, with seven interceptions over eight games. Pierre Thomas - #23 - Running back - 5'11" - 215lbs
Nov 22, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Thomas should be in line for an expanded role with Reggie Bush unavailable against the Bucs on Sunday.
Impact: Mike Bell will still be a factor for the Saints also, but the absence of Bush may allow Thomas owners to take advantage of the opportunity for more touches against an inconsistent Tampa Bay defense. Chris McAlister - #29 - Cornerback - 6'1" - 206lbs
Nov 22, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: McAlister will not play against the Buccaneers on Sunday.
Impact: Given that he was just signed Wednesday, McAlister is presumably not up to speed in the Saints defensive scheme. He'll probably be able to play by next week, however. Darren Sharper - #42 - Safety - 6'2" - 210lbs
Nov 22, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Sharper (knee) will start against the Bucs on Sunday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Impact: He sat out with a strained knee against the Rams last week, but Sharper will be on the field and ready to ball-hawk in New Orleans' secondary against Josh Freeman and the Bucs on Sunday. Malcolm Jenkins - #27 - Cornerback - 6'0" - 204lbs
Nov 22, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Jenkins will make his first NFL start against the Bucs on Sunday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Impact: The Saints are a little bit thinned out in their secondary this week, so it will be interesting to see how Jenkins and their other reserves fare against a Tampa Bay offense that managed to rally for a fourth-quarter win against the Packers two weeks ago. Sedrick Ellis - #98 - Defensive Tackle - 6'1" - 305lbs
Sat. Nov 21, 2009 |
Fanball
News: The Associated Press reports that Sedrick Ellis did not travel with the Saints for their matchup against the Bucs and has been ruled out for Week 11.
Impact: Ellis has been dealing with a knee injury and hasn't played since Week 7, so it's no surprise that he didn't make the trip with the rest of the team. He's expected to return to practice next week, so he may be able to play in Week 12. Reggie Bush - #25 - Running back - 6'0" - 203lbs
Sat. Nov 21, 2009 |
Fanball
News: The Associated Press reports that a source close to the team confirmed that Reggie Bush (knee) did not travel with the Saints to Tampa for Sunday's game.
Impact: Looks like Bush is officially out for Week 11. He is expected to return to practice next week and will most likely be active for Week 12, but there was no reason to push him on Sunday. With Pierre Thomas and Mike Bell capable of handling the backfield duties, Bush getting extra rest just made sense. Reggie Bush - #25 - Running back - 6'0" - 203lbs
Sat. Nov 21, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Bush has officially been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, the Associated Press reports. He did not travel with the team to Tampa.
Impact: Bush missed practice all week with swelling in his left knee, but expects to return to practice next week. Sedrick Ellis - #98 - Defensive Tackle - 6'1" - 305lbs
Sat. Nov 21, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Ellis (knee) is not traveling to Tampa with the team for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, the Associated Press reports. He has officially been ruled out.
Impact: This isn't good news for the Saints' run defense, which has struggled in the three games Ellis has missed. A person familiar with the situation told the AP that Ellis is expected to return to practice next week. Reggie Bush - #25 - Running back - 6'0" - 203lbs
Sat. Nov 21, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Bush (knee) is not making the trip to Tampa for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, the Associated Press reports.
Impact: This hasn't been made official, but it's not much of a surprise considering Bush missed practice all week. Find another option if you were planning to start Bush on Sunday. Reggie Bush - #25 - Running back - 6'0" - 203lbs
Fri. Nov 20, 2009 |
STATS
News: A person familiar with the decision says Bush and defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis are not traveling with the New Orleans Saints for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay because of knee injuries. Both players are expected to be back at practice next week, said the person, who requested anonymity because the team's injury report had not been officially updated.
Impact: Bush came out of the St. Louis game with swelling and soreness in his left knee, which was surgically repaired twice in a three-month span a year ago. Darren Sharper - #42 - Safety - 6'2" - 210lbs
Fri. Nov 20, 2009 |
Fanball
News: Cornerback Darren Sharper practiced fully on Friday, and is officially probable for Week 11, according to Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Impact: He will play, and with a nice match-up against a young Tampa Bay quarterback, Josh Freeman, he could add to his NFC-leading interception total of seven. Lance Moore - #16 - Wide Receiver - 5'9" - 190lbs
Fri. Nov 20, 2009 |
Fanball
News: Lance Moore (ankle) will be out again this weekend, according to Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Impact: Moore has had a nightmare season after a splendid 2008 campaign, and is no longer a viable fantasy option, even in New Orleans' explosive offense. Reggie Bush - #25 - Running back - 6'0" - 203lbs
Fri. Nov 20, 2009 |
Fanball
News: Reggie Bush did not practice again on Friday because of a bruised knee, and is questionable for Sunday, according to Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Impact: Consider this a questionable that might not actually play. With Pierre Thomas and Mike Bell both in the fold, there's no reason for New Orleans to run their former overall number two pick out there against a middling Bucs squad. Darren Sharper - #42 - Safety - 6'2" - 210lbs
Fri. Nov 20, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Sharper (knee) practiced fully on Friday and is listed as probable for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Impact: Sharper said he'll test the knee in warm-ups to make sure, so this isn't a done deal, but barring a setback he'll be ready to go against the Bucs. He may even be used as a punt returner, since the Saints' top three options -- Reggie Bush, Lance Moore and Tracy Porter -- may all be out. David Thomas - #85 - Tight End - 6'3" - 248lbs
Fri. Nov 20, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Thomas (knee) participated fully in Friday's practice and is listed as probable for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, the Saints' official site reports.
Impact: Thomas should be ready to go against the Buccaneers, but you'd need to be in a real bind at tight end to consider using him this week. Drew Brees simply has too many weapons to choose from in New Orleans. Sedrick Ellis - #98 - Defensive Tackle - 6'1" - 305lbs
Fri. Nov 20, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Ellis (knee) participated in limited portions of Friday's practice and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Impact: Getting Ellis back would be huge for the Saints, who have allowed a 100-yard rusher in each of the three games he's missed. Tracy Porter - #22 - Cornerback - 5'11" - 185lbs
Fri. Nov 20, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Porter (knee) has been ruled out of Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Impact: New Orleans will be without both starting cornerbacks against the Buccaneers, and starting safety Darren Sharper is banged up as well. Randall Gay and Malcom Jenkins will likely start on the outside. Jabari Greer - #32 - Cornerback - 5'11" - 180lbs
Fri. Nov 20, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Greer (groin) has been ruled out of Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Impact: New Orleans will be without both starting cornerbacks against the Buccaneers, likely forcing Malcom Jenkins and Randall Gay into the starting lineup. The newly signed Chris McAlister could factor in as well. Lance Moore - #16 - Wide Receiver - 5'9" - 190lbs
Fri. Nov 20, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Moore (ankle) has been ruled out of Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Impact: Moore hasn't played since Week 8 and will have to wait at least another week before making his return. Reggie Bush - #25 - Running back - 6'0" - 203lbs
Fri. Nov 20, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Bush (knee) did not practice again on Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Impact: Coach Sean Payton said that Bush knows the offense well enough to play without practicing all week, but also cautioned that he doesn't want to risk a setback. Because New Orleans plays in the early wave of games on Sunday, we'll have official word on Bush's status Sunday morning. At this point, we're not overly optimistic. Reggie Bush - #25 - Running back - 6'0" - 203lbs
Thu. Nov 19, 2009 |
Fanball
News: Reggie Bush missed his second straight day of practice on Thursday with "knee issues," according to Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Impact: Typical Bush. He has his best game of the season against the Rams last Sunday (83 rushing yards, two total touchdowns), and then comes up lame. Consider him questionable for this Sunday. Lance Moore - #16 - Wide Receiver - 5'9" - 190lbs
Thu. Nov 19, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Moore (ankle) did not practice Thursday, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Impact: He's looking iffy, at best, for Sunday's game against the Bucs. Reggie Bush - #25 - Running back - 6'0" - 203lbs
Thu. Nov 19, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Bush missed another day of practice Thursday with some swelling in his left knee, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. "He got his treatment early in the week, and we're just trying to see if we can get it close to 100 percent right now," Coach Sean Payton said Thursday. "So we'll see where he's at tomorrow. Hopefully we can practice him tomorrow. At the same time, I don't want to set it back."
Impact: As a result, there's starting to be some doubt that he will be a go for Sunday's game at Tampa Bay. More on the status of Bush, who has had issues with the same knee in the past, on Friday. Jeremy Shockey - #88 - Tight End - 6'5" - 251lbs
Thu. Nov 19, 2009 |
Fanball
News: Jeremy Shockey doesn't think that NBA superstar LeBron James would be able to make it in the NFL, according to the National Football Post. "Everyone trust me, Lebron James could not play in the NFL," he recently tweeted. "ESPN is crazy to even think he could even make a practice squad. He's a 4.9 40 time."
Impact: Thank you, Jeremy, for giving a serious response to something no one is talking seriously about. That being said, it's hard not to believe LeBron wouldn't look good as a Saints tight end with Drew Brees throwing to him. Sedrick Ellis - #98 - Defensive Tackle - 6'1" - 305lbs
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Ellis (knee) returned to practice Wednesday, the New Orleans Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan reports. He was listed as a limited participant.
Impact: Ellis has missed three straight games, and the Saints have allowed a 100-yard rusher in each without their big disrupter in the middle. New Orleans might get him back for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay. Darren Sharper - #42 - Safety - 6'2" - 210lbs
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Sharper (knee) was limited in Wednesday's practice, the New Orleans Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan reports.
Impact: Sharper said he probably could have played last week, but may not have made it through the full game. Assuming he doesn't suffer any setbacks in practice, he should play Sunday against the Buccaneers, but check back later in the week if you plan to start him. David Thomas - #85 - Tight End - 6'3" - 248lbs
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Thomas (knee) did not practice Wednesday because of a knee injury, the New Orleans Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan reports.
Impact: Thomas is coming off his best game of the season, but he's still far from being a recommended fantasy play. He was held out of practice as a precaution. Reggie Bush - #25 - Running back - 6'0" - 203lbs
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Bush missed practice Wednesday with a knee injury, the New Orleans Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan reports.
Impact: Bush tweaked his knee during last Sunday's win over the Rams and played with a sleeve on his leg in the second half. Coach Sean Payton indicated the injury isn't serious and that Wednesday's absence was more of a maintenance day than anything else. There's no reason for Bush owners to worry at this point. Darren Sharper - #42 - Safety - 6'2" - 210lbs
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 |
Fanball
News: Darren Sharper practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, according to ProFootballTalk.com.
Impact: Sharper missed Week 10 with a knee injury, and it is encouraging to see him practice today. The Saints will battle the Buccaneers on Sunday. Tracy Porter - #22 - Cornerback - 5'11" - 185lbs
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Porter (knee) did not practice Wednesday, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Impact: The Saints haven't announced a timetable for Porter's return, but usually MCL sprains are a several-week ordeal. Reggie Bush - #25 - Running back - 6'0" - 203lbs
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 |
Fanball
News: Saints' running back Reggie Bush tweaked his knee in Sunday's win over the Rams, according to beat writer Jeff Duncan. The injury is not believed to be serious.
Impact: Bush was fitted with a sleeve, and he should be fine this week. He is coming off one of his better performances of the season, and he has five scores in his last five games. Chris McAlister - #29 - Cornerback - 6'1" - 206lbs
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 |
STATS
News: The New Orleans Saints have signed McAlister.
Impact: The 32-year-old former Ravens star has been elected to the Pro Bowl three times in his 10-year career but missed most of last season with a right knee injury and was released by Baltimore last February. Both Saints starting cornerbacks are nursing injuries. Jabari Greer has a groin pull and Tracy Porter a sprained left knee. Jabari Greer - #32 - Cornerback - 5'11" - 180lbs
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Greer (groin) did not practice Wednesday, the New Orleans Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan reports.
Impact: Both Saints starting cornerbacks are nursing injuries: Greer with his pulled groin and Tracy Porter with a sprained knee. New Orleans' secondary could be vulnerable on Sunday if neither is able to play, but we should know more as the week of practice continues. Lance Moore - #16 - Wide Receiver - 5'9" - 190lbs
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Moore (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, the New Orleans Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan reports.
Impact: Moore hasn't been a fantasy option this season, but he's valuable to the Saints simply because he gives Drew Brees an additional weapon to deploy against opposing defenses. Moore has missed two games with the injury and his status for Sunday's tilt with the Buccaneers remains iffy. Chris McAlister - #29 - Cornerback - 6'1" - 206lbs
Wed. Nov 18, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: McAlister signed with the Saints on Wednesday, The Daily Advertiser reports.
Impact: The Saints were down to three cornerbacks with starters Jabari Greer and Tracy Porter out with injuries. Porter sprained his MCL last week against the St. Louis Rams, while Greer missed last week with a groin injury. Third-string quarterback Chase Daniel was cut to make room for McAlister. Darren Sharper - #42 - Safety - 6'2" - 210lbs
Tue. Nov 17, 2009 |
Fanball
News: According to NFL.com, Darren Sharper has recovered from his knee injury will return to action on Sunday.
Impact: Sharper almost played in Week 10 against the Rams, but pulled out at the last minute in a cautionary decision. The interception leader should be good to go in Week 11 against a terrible Bucs offense. Chase Daniel - #10 - Quarterback - 6'0" - 225lbs
Tue. Nov 17, 2009 |
Fanball
News: According to Adam Schefter on Twitter, the Saints have waived quarterback Chase Daniel.
Impact: Expect the Mizzou-alum to pass through waivers and wind back up on the Saints practice squad. He's a long-term project that won't contribute this season, which is why the Saints didn't put in a claim on him, but they will likely tinker with him down the road. Chris McAlister - #29 - Cornerback - 6'1" - 206lbs
Tue. Nov 17, 2009 |
Fanball
News: According to ESPN.com, the Saints have signed veteran cornerback Chris McAlister.
Impact: McAlister, who has been out of the league since February when he was released by the Ravens, has a chance to step in and see some playing time if the Saints current injuries persist. Tracy Porter and Jabari Greer are currently banged up, so McAlister could end up being the number three man behind Randall Gay and Malcolm Jenkins. The ten-year vet and three-time Pro Bowler could wind up making a difference. Chase Daniel - #10 - Quarterback - 6'0" - 225lbs
Tue. Nov 17, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Daniel was waived by the Saints on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Impact: Look for Daniel to be added to the Saints' practice squad after he clears waivers later this week. Marques Colston - #12 - Wide Receiver - 6'4" - 225lbs
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 |
STATS
News: Colston had two catches for 17 yards and a fumble Sunday as the Saints escaped with a 28-23 victory Sunday over the St. Louis Rams.
Impact: It's the second straight game Colston has been held down, and New Orleans has had to sweat out both wins. Look for Drew Brees to get him more involved this week at Tampa Bay. Reggie Bush - #25 - Running back - 6'0" - 203lbs
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 |
STATS
News: Bush scored twice for the first time in more than a year and totaled 98 yards rushing and receiving as the Saints escaped with a 28-23 victory Sunday over the St. Louis Rams.
Impact: Bush was initially supposed to be a fantasy superstar, but he's turned into an afterthought. He'll still have his breakout games, like he did Sunday, but he's certainly not a must-start. Drew Brees - #9 - Quarterback - 6'0" - 209lbs
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 |
STATS
News: Brees was 18 of 26 for 223 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions Sunday in the Saints' narrow 28-23 win at St. Louis.
Impact: Brees has six touchdowns and seven interceptions in his last four games, and the Saints have been living on the edge in each of those close victories. He'll continue to put up solid numbers, but the turnovers need to come down in New Orleans is going to stay unbeaten. Tracy Porter - #22 - Cornerback - 5'11" - 185lbs
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Porter (knee) suffered a sprained MCL in the Saints' win over the Rams on Sunday, not an ACL injury as speculated earlier, the The Times-Picayune reports.
Impact: "He does not have an ACL; he does not need surgery," Saints' coach Sean Payton said. "I don't have a time frame on it, but it's an MCL and that's great news." Although a timetable hasn't been set, MCL injuries usually keep players out from four to eight weeks. Porter is the Saints' second starting cornerback to go down in as many weeks, but the team is optimistic that Jabari Greer, who injured his groin two weeks ago, will return next week at Tampa Bay. Tracy Porter - #22 - Cornerback - 5'11" - 185lbs
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 |
Fanball
News: Tracy Porter will miss 4-to-6 weeks of action after spraining his MCL against the Rams on Sunday, according to Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Impact: That would have him returning at the tail end of the season. There's a chance he could end up on injured reserve. Malcolm Jenkins will likely get the first shot at replacing him in the lineup. Darren Sharper - #42 - Safety - 6'2" - 210lbs
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Sharper did not play in Sunday's game against St. Louis with a "strained knee," reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Impact: According to Sharper, the knee "Just wasn't right. I might have been OK for a quarter, but I don't think I could have played the whole game." While his status for next week is still uncertain, the fact that Sharper believed he could have at least played some of the game indicates that he should be able to go next week against Tampa Bay. We will keep you updated when injury reports are released later in the week. Will Smith - #91 - Defensive End - 6'3" - 282lbs
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Smith added another sack Sunday in St. Louis to go with two tackles.
Impact: While many owners were hoping for a bigger game from Smith against the Rams, he now has recorded at least one sack in three straight games. Usama Young - #28 - Safety - 6'0" - 200lbs
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: In his first career start at safety, Young recorded three tackles and an interception Sunday in St. Louis.
Impact: Young performed admirably in the absence of Darren Sharper. Sharper will likely be back in action next week against Tampa Bay, relegating Young back to the bench. Scott Shanle - #58 - Linebacker - 6'2" - 245lbs
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Shanle recorded six tackles Sunday in St. Louis.
Impact: It was a solid game for the consistent veteran who quietly has averaged almost six tackles per game this year. Jonathan Vilma - #51 - Linebacker - 6'1" - 230lbs
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Vilma recorded six tackles Sunday in St. Louis.
Impact: Another solid day for Vilma as he continues to reemerge as a decent play in IDP leagues after a very poor start to the year. Roman Harper - #41 - Safety - 6'1" - 200lbs
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Harper recorded seven tackles Sunday in St. Louis.
Impact: Nothing new to report here. Harper has performed solidly all year and is averaging well over six tackles per game. David Thomas - #85 - Tight End - 6'3" - 248lbs
Mon. Nov 16, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Thomas set a career high with five catches for 45 yards Sunday in St. Louis.
Impact: Thomas has seen a few more passes his way the past few weeks. He seems to be getting a little more comfortable in the Saints' offense, however, is still way down on the list of options. Tracy Porter - #22 - Cornerback - 5'11" - 185lbs
Sun. Nov 15, 2009 |
Fanball
News: Updating an earlier report, the Saints fear that Tracy Porter may have suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during today's win over the Rams, according to Brad Biggs of the National Football Post.
Impact: The young cornerback is slated for an MRI on Monday. Rookie Malcolm Jenkins replaced him in the lineup following his exit. Porter has been performing well, and would be a tough loss if the Saints' fears are confirmed that he is done for the season. Tracy Porter - #22 - Cornerback - 5'11" - 185lbs
Nov 15, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Porter will undergo an MRI Monday and the fear is that he suffered a serious injury, Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Impact: The report indicates that it could be a season-ending ACL issue. Stay tuned. Reggie Bush - #25 - Running back - 6'0" - 203lbs
Sun. Nov 15, 2009 |
Fanball
News: Reggie Bush had six carries for 83 yards and one touchdown, as well as two receptions for 15 yards and a score in the Week 10 victory at St. Louis.
Impact: Bush only had eight touches but he scored twice, and now has five touchdowns in the last five games. Regardless, given the lack of overall touches, he is a risky play as anything more than a flex option. Drew Brees - #9 - Quarterback - 6'0" - 209lbs
Sun. Nov 15, 2009 |
Fanball
News: Drew Brees completed 18-of-26 passes for 223 yards with two touchdowns against two interceptions in the Week 10 win at St. Louis.
Impact: Over the last four games, Brees has thrown six touchdowns against seven interceptions. During this period, he has lost three fumbles resulting in a total of 10 turnovers. He's still a top-five fantasy quarterback, but he has thrown one or zero touchdowns in four of nine starts this season. Marques Colston - #12 - Wide Receiver - 6'4" - 225lbs
Nov 15, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Colston caught only two passes for 17 yards Sunday in St. Louis.
Impact: For the second week in a row, Colston was largely absent in the Saints' offense. He had the opportunity to salvage the day from a fantasy standpoint, but fumbled the ball while diving for the end zone in the second half. Stick with him the rest of the way though, as he should be able to bounce back with the Saints' soft schedule. Devery Henderson - #19 - Wide Receiver - 5'11" - 200lbs
Nov 15, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Henderson caught four passes for 72 yards Sunday in St. Louis.
Impact: Henderson led the Saints in receiving Sunday, however, did not find the end zone. He has not scored since the first week of the season, but if you can live with the inconsistency on a week-to-week basis, he could be a valuable source of yardage the rest of the season with the Saints' soft schedule. Robert Meachem - #17 - Wide Receiver - 6'2" - 210lbs
Nov 15, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Meachem caught one pass for a 27-yard touchdown Sunday in St. Louis. He also added a 41-yard run on an end around.
Impact: While he only touched the ball twice on offense for the Saints, he made those touches count for two big gains and a score. Consistency will continue to be an issue for Meachem this year, but if he is able to make the most of his opportunities, he can be a fantasy contributor, particularly with the Saints' soft schedule. Jeremy Shockey - #88 - Tight End - 6'5" - 251lbs
Nov 15, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Shockey caught three balls for 42 yards Sunday in St. Louis.
Impact: Shockey has not caught a touchdown pass since Week 6. While he is still getting his fair share of targets and putting up consistent yardage numbers, he is simply one of a number of weapons in the Saints' explosive offense. He will continue to be a solid tight end option in all formats with the potential for a big game on any given week. Mike Bell - #21 - Running back - 6'0" - 225lbs
Nov 15, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Bell carried eight times for 30 yards Sunday in St. Louis.
Impact: Bell's workload has been reduced significantly in recent weeks. In fact, it was Reggie Bush who was the most productive back for the Saints Sunday. Bush also received the only true goal line carry on the day, scoring from three yards out. However, don;t cut ties with Bell quite yet in most formats. A soft schedule and the potential for the 9-0 Saints to lock up a playoff spot soon could equate to Bell receiving more carries down the stretch to keep the Saints' backfield healthy. Reggie Bush - #25 - Running back - 6'0" - 203lbs
Nov 15, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Bush had his best game of the year Sunday in St. Louis. He rushed six times for 83 yards and a touchdown and chipped in another two catches for 15 yards with a second touchdown.
Impact: Coach Sean Payton showed once again that he feels very comfortable getting Bush the ball in the red zone for the Saints' offense. Bush scored from three yards out on a draw play in the second quarter and again on a 15-yard reception later in the same half. Bush's touches and production has increased in recent weeks. With the Saints' soft schedule coming up, Bush may a flex-worthy option in many leagues despite the limited touches. Pierre Thomas - #23 - Running back - 5'11" - 215lbs
Nov 15, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Thomas rushed for just 37 yards on 11 carries Sunday in St. Louis.
Impact: It was a very disappointing fantasy day for owners who expected a big game from Thomas against a porous Rams' defense. While Thomas received the bulk of the carries Sunday, Reggie Bush was by far the most productive running back, scoring twice on the day, including once from three yards out. Thomas will have the opportunity to bounce back next week in Tampa Bay. Drew Brees - #9 - Quarterback - 6'0" - 209lbs
Nov 15, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Brees threw for 223 yards with two touchdown and two interceptions Sunday in St. Louis.
Impact: On a day where the Saints offense struggled to find a rhythm, Bress still managed to throw two touchdown. It may not have the performance some fantasy owners were hoping for against the punchless Rams, but even on his bad days, Brees showed that he can still put up consistent numbers. News: Tracy Porter was carted off in the game at St. Louis with a brace on his left knee and appeared to be in serious pain, according to Jeff Duncan's twitter page.
Impact: Porter will not return and has been replaced in the lineup by rookie Malcolm Jenkins. This is a situation to monitor closely, as the Saints are getting very thin in the third level of their defense. Tracy Porter - #22 - Cornerback - 5'11" - 185lbs

News: Darren Sharper (knee) has advised Lindsay Soto of the NFL Network that he will not play today against the St. Louis Rams.

News: Darren Sharper will test his knee in pre-game warmups and is a game-time decision, according to Lindsay Soto of the NFL Network.
Impact: Soto actually said he was between 40-60 percent to play, but the NFL's interception leader sat out Wednesday's practice and was limited Thursday and Friday. News: Sharper (knee) told the NFL Network on Sunday that he will not play against the Rams.
Impact: The official inactive list should be released later this morning and confirm that Sharper won't play. Usama Young will likely get the start at free safety in Sharper's place. Darren Sharper - #42 - Safety - 6'2" - 210lbs

RotoWire
News: Sharper (knee) practiced on a limited basis Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against St. Louis, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Impact: Earlier in the week, coach Sean Payton seemed confident about Sharper's playing status, so we'd guess that he's on the better side of questionable heading into the weekend. We'll have an official word on Sharper's status Sunday morning, giving you plenty of time to swap him out of your IDP lineup if he is a surprise inactive. News: Colston (illness) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against St. Louis, the Saints' official site reports.
Impact: Colston managed just one reception against Carolina last week but should rebound against the Rams, provided the Saints don't jump out to a commanding early lead and stop going to the air. Garrett Hartley - #5 - Kicker - 5'8" - 204lbs
Fri. Nov 13, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Hartley (ankle) is probable for Sunday's game against the Rams, the Saints' official site reports.
Impact: Hartley will still probably find himself on the inactive list, since the Saints have given no indications they are planning to replace John Carney. Lance Moore - #16 - Wide Receiver - 5'9" - 190lbs

Impact: Colston figures to show up on Friday's injury report, but given his presence Thursday, it looks like he'll be good to go this weekend. Darren Sharper - #42 - Safety - 6'2" - 210lbs

News: Sharper did not practice Wednesday due to a knee injury suffered in last Sunday's win over Carolina, the New Orleans Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan reports.
Impact: Coach Sean Payton doesn't seem to think that the injury is serious, so right now there's no need to worry about the NFL's interception leader. We'll continue to monitor his practice participation leading up to Sunday's game against St. Louis. Marques Colston - #12 - Wide Receiver - 6'4" - 225lbs

Impact: Hartley might be healthy enough to kick on Sunday, but right now there's no indication that the undefeated Saints are ready to make a switch from John Carney. Jabari Greer - #32 - Cornerback - 5'11" - 180lbs
Wed. Nov 11, 2009 |

News: Greer (groin) did not practice Wednesday, but coach Sean Payton said he is encouraged by Greer's progress, the New Orleans Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan reports.
Impact: You'll have to check back later in the week if you plan to start Greer this week, but Payton's comments lead us to believe that Greer should be okay for Sunday's tilt with the Rams. Lance Moore - #16 - Wide Receiver - 5'9" - 190lbs
Wed. Nov 11, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Moore (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, the New Orleans Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan reports.
Impact: Moore missed last week's game against Carolina and had just four catches for 29 yards in the two games prior to that. For as good as the Saints' offense is, Moore is getting lost among the plethora of weapons and has delivered little production even in deeper leagues this season. Marques Colston - #12 - Wide Receiver - 6'4" - 225lbs
Mon. Nov 9, 2009 |
STATS
News: Colston was held to one catch for 45 yards Sunday in the Saints' 30-20 comeback win over Carolina.
Impact: It's a rare off week for Colston, who had a touchdown in each of his past three games. Look for him to bounce back against St. Louis and Tampa Bay. Pierre Thomas - #23 - Running back - 5'11" - 215lbs
Mon. Nov 9, 2009 |
STATS
News: Thomas had 13 carries for 50 yards and a touchdown and also caught five passes in the Saints' 30-20 win over Carolina on Sunday.
Impact: It's the third rushing or receiving touchdown in the past two weeks for Thomas, who is the best bet to score out of the backfield each week for loaded New Orleans. Drew Brees - #9 - Quarterback - 6'0" - 209lbs
Mon. Nov 9, 2009 |
STATS
News: Brees overcame two early turnovers to pass for 330 yards and a touchdown in a 30-20 victory over the Carolina Panthers.
Impact: Brees is on pace for another 4,600-yard season and 34 touchdowns, which would tie his career high from last season. Unless you have Peyton Manning, it doesn't get much better than Brees each week. Devery Henderson - #19 - Wide Receiver - 5'11" - 200lbs
Mon. Nov 9, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Henderson caught three passes for 93 yards Sunday against Carolina.
Impact: Most of Henderson's yards came off a short slant route on which he exploded upfield for a gain of 63 yards. While he did not score this week, he becomes a very intriguing fantasy play next week, particularly if Lance Moore is out again, against a porous St. Louis pass defense. Robert Meachem - #17 - Wide Receiver - 6'2" - 210lbs
Mon. Nov 9, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Meachem caught five passes for 98 yards and a touchdown Sunday against Carolina.
Impact: The five catches were a career high for Meachem and he fell one yard short of tying his career high in receiving yardage. While consistency will still likely be an issue for him, Meachem has the opportunity to put up very nice fantasy numbers with Marques Colston drawing a lot of coverage. If Lance Moore is out again next week in St. Louis, Meachem becomes an excellent option against the Rams' porous pass defense. Jeremy Shockey - #88 - Tight End - 6'5" - 251lbs
Mon. Nov 9, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Shockey caught three passes for 26 yards Sunday against Carolina.
Impact: Shockey was an afterthought in the passing game most of the afternoon. It is possible that he was asked to help block Julius Peppers and protect Drew Brees' backside. Hopefully he will be able to rebound nicely the next two weeks against St. Louis and Tampa Bay. Drew Brees - #9 - Quarterback - 6'0" - 209lbs
Mon. Nov 9, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Brees posted 330 yards passing and a touchdown, although he threw an interception and lost a fumble in Sunday's contest against Carolina.
Impact: While his turnovers have gone up in recent week, Brees continues to post excellent fantasy numbers. He will play a couple of the worst pass defenses in the league in St. Louis and Tampa Bay the next two weeks, so continue to start him with confidence. Reggie Bush - #25 - Running back - 6'0" - 203lbs
Mon. Nov 9, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Bush rushed twice for 16 yards and caught seven passes for 37 yards in Sunday's win against Carolina.
Impact: As expected with Lance Moore out, Bush saw more looks in the passing game on Sunday. Although he did not find the end zone, Bush looked extremely explosive and shifty Sunday, traits he seemed to have been lacking earlier this year. With some inferior opponents coming up on the schedule the next few weeks, he could post some nice fantasy numbers, particularly in PPR leagues. Will Smith - #91 - Defensive End - 6'3" - 282lbs
Mon. Nov 9, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Smith recorded three tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble Sunday against Carolina.
Impact: Smith has looked excellent lately. He now has 5 1/2 sacks in his last five games. With a soft schedule ahead for the Saints starting with the sieve offensive line in St. Louis this coming Sunday, Smith should continue to post good numbers from the defensive end position. Tony Hargrove - #69 - Defensive End - 6'3" - 272lbs
Mon. Nov 9, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Hargrove made three tackles Sunday against Carolina. Late in the fourth quarter he recorded a hat trick, stripping DeAngelo Williams of the football, picking it up, and rumbling into the end zone from a few yards out for the score.
Impact: Hargrove has performed admirably in replace of the injured Sedrick Ellis. Ellis will likely be out for a few more weeks during which time Hargrove will continue to see starts at defensive tackle. The Saints play a sieve offensive line in St. Louis on Sunday which could provide Hargrove the opportunity to put up a nice stat line for an IDP owner looking for a temporary stopgap. Darren Sharper - #42 - Safety - 6'2" - 210lbs
Mon. Nov 9, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Sharper recorded six tackles Sunday against Carolina.
Impact: For only the third game this year, Sharper failed to make an interception. He did, however, add an uncharacteristic six tackles. The tackles were his most in a single game this year and gave spoiled fantasy owners something to hang their hat on in absence of a pick. Tracy Porter - #22 - Cornerback - 5'11" - 185lbs
Mon. Nov 9, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Porter recorded seven tackles and forced two fumbles Sunday against Carolina.
Impact: Porter continues to be a playmaker in the Saints secondary this year. He now has 41 tackles and three interceptions, excellent numbers from the cornerback position, a year after missing nearly the entire season with a hand injury. Jonathan Vilma - #51 - Linebacker - 6'1" - 230lbs
Mon. Nov 9, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Vilma had a big game Sunday, recording 10 tackles against Carolina.
Impact: This sort of performance is more along the lines of what owners in IDP leagues expected when they drafted Vilma this year. While his production has not met expectations so far, he has posted very encouraging numbers the last three games, culminating in his first double digit tackle performance of the season against the Panthers. Roman Harper - #41 - Safety - 6'1" - 200lbs
Mon. Nov 9, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Harper had a big game Sunday, recording 10 tackles against the Panthers.
Impact: Harper was everywhere on the field and seemingly blitzed on almost every down. He made numerous stops in Carolina's backfield. With 58 total tackles on the year, he should be almost universally owned in IDP leagues. Jabari Greer - #32 - Cornerback - 5'11" - 180lbs
Mon. Nov 9, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Greer strained a groin in the fourth quarter of Sunday's win over the Panthers and did not return, the New Orleans Times_Picayune reports.
Impact: As a result, Randall Gay replaced Greer and Malcolm Jenkins took Gay's spot in the Saints' nickel and dime packages. Coach Sean Payton said the injury did not appear to be serious, but we'll track Greer's status in the coming days nonetheless. John Carney - #3 - Kicker - 5'11" - 185lbs
Nov 8, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: With Garrett Hartley inactive for Sunday's game against Carolina, Carney will once again handle the Saints' kicking duties.
Impact: Carney continues to hold on to the job and even when Hartley is healthy, the veteran kicker does not appear in any imminent danger of losing his current gig kicking in the Saints' potent offense. Scott Fujita - #55 - Linebacker - 6'5" - 250lbs
Nov 8, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Fujita (calf) is inactive for Sunday's game against Carolina.
Impact: As a result, Jo-Lonn Dunbar will start at strongside linebacker Sunday for Fujita, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Garrett Hartley - #5 - Kicker - 5'8" - 204lbs

News: Hartley (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game against Carolina.
Impact: John Carney will continue to handle the Saints kicking duties indefinitely. Marques Colston - #12 - Wide Receiver - 6'4" - 225lbs
Nov 8, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Colston caught one pass for 45 yards Sunday against Carolina.
Impact: Colston described Sunday as, "one of my worst games," as he had several uncharacteristic drops. He was able to sneak deep for his only grab near the end of the first half to set up a Saints field goal. Expect him to bounce back next week against St. Louis. Mike Bell - #21 - Running back - 6'0" - 225lbs
Nov 8, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Bell ran for just 17 yards on five carries in Sunday's 30-20 win over Carolina.
Impact: The Saints trailed by 11 points at halftime, so they weren't able to establish their running game, although Pierre Thomas was able to do some damage, finishing with 13 carries for 50 yards and a touchdown. While Thomas has proven to be the superior player, Bell still has a big role with New Orleans and should be productive in the future, especially considering the team has some lesser opponents on the upcoming schedule. Pierre Thomas - #23 - Running back - 5'11" - 215lbs
Nov 8, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Thomas had 13 carries for 50 yards with a touchdown and caught five passes for 31 yards in Sunday's 30-20 win over Carolina.
Impact: Meanwhile, Mike Bell wasn't nearly as productive with just five carries for 17 yards. Thomas is clearly the team's most explosive runner and should see most of the work in the future, although Bell and Reggie Bush are around to steal touches. Kendrick Clancy - #71 - Defensive Tackle - 6'1" - 305lbs
Sat. Nov 7, 2009 |
STATS
News: Clancy was placed on injured reserve Saturday, ending his season.
Impact: Clancy, a 10th-year player in his third season with the Saints, played in two games and was inactive for five others because of the injury. DeMario Pressley - #90 - Defensive Tackle - 6'3" - 295lbs

News: The Saints signed Pressley from the practice squad to the active roster.
Impact: Pressley, a second-year lineman out of North Carolina State, was selected by the Saints in the fifth round of the 2008 draft. The 6-foot-3, 301-pounder spent his rookie season on injured reserve rehabbing a foot injury suffered early in training camp. Kendrick Clancy - #71 - Defensive Tackle - 6'1" - 305lbs

News: Clancy (knee) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Impact: DeMario Pressley was signed from the practice squad to take Clancy's place on the active roster, and will likely ease into the defensive line rotation. John Carney - #3 - Kicker - 5'11" - 185lbs
Fri. Nov 6, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: With Garrett Hartley listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against Carolina, Carney is in no danger of losing the kicker job this week.
Impact: Despite missing three of his 11 field-goal attempts this season, Carney doesn't seem to be in imminent danger of losing the job even when Hartley is healthy. Garrett Hartley - #5 - Kicker - 5'8" - 204lbs
Fri. Nov 6, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Hartley (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against Carolina, the Panthers' official site reports.
Impact: John Carney was expected to kick for the Saints anyway, so this shouldn't alter anyone's fantasy plans. Scott Fujita - #55 - Linebacker - 6'5" - 250lbs
Fri. Nov 6, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Fujita (calf) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Carolina, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Impact: Fujita still hasn't returned to practice, so the chances of seeing him this week are slim. Troy Evans is ready to start in his place. Reggie Bush - #25 - Running back - 6'0" - 203lbs
Fri. Nov 6, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: With Lance Moore ruled out for Sunday's game against Carolina according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Bush could see more snaps lined up out wide as a receiver.
Impact: Courtney Roby is currently listed as the Saints' fourth wide receiver, but for all effective purposes, that role falls to Bush. He received a career-low four touches Monday against Atlanta but should see that number go up as a result of the injury to Moore. Lance Moore - #16 - Wide Receiver - 5'9" - 190lbs
Fri. Nov 6, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Moore (ankle) was officially ruled out of Sunday's game against Carolina, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Impact: Moore has dropped off the fantasy map this season, so his presence won't be missed by many owners. Courtney Roby is expected to assume the fourth receiver role. Scott Fujita - #55 - Linebacker - 6'5" - 250lbs

News: Fujita (calf) did not practice Thursday, the New Orleans Times Picayune reports.
Impact: Fujita is still looking pretty iffy for Sunday's game against the Panthers, though coach Sean Payton is hopeful. More on his status Friday. Lance Moore - #16 - Wide Receiver - 5'9" - 190lbs
Thu. Nov 5, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Moore (ankle) did not practice Thursday, the New Orleans Times Picayune reports.
Impact: Moore's numbers are way down this season, so while there is always some upside to playing in the Saints' offense as the season rolls along, he needs to show us something before he can be a recommended lineup option again. Lance Moore - #16 - Wide Receiver - 5'9" - 190lbs
Wed. Nov 4, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Moore missed practice Wednesday with a sprained ankle, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. The injury was originally reported as a bruised shin.
Impact: A sprained ankle is potentially more problematic than a shin bruise, putting Moore's Week 9 status in a bit of doubt. We'll know more in the coming days, but Moore will likely be listed as questionable this week. Robert Meachem would assume a bigger role if Moore can't play. Jeremy Shockey - #88 - Tight End - 6'5" - 251lbs
Tue. Nov 3, 2009 |
STATS
News: Shockey had five catches for 72 yards Monday night in the Saints' 35-27 win over Atlanta.
Impact: Shockey has only scored one touchdown since grabbing two in Week 1, but that shouldn't diminish his fantasy value. Drew Brees is clearly looking for him, but on a team with as many options as New Orleans has, he's not always going to score. Marques Colston - #12 - Wide Receiver - 6'4" - 225lbs
Tue. Nov 3, 2009 |
STATS
News: Colston had six catches for 85 yards and a touchdown Monday night in the Saints' 35-27 win over Atlanta.
Impact: Colston has now scored three weeks in a row. He's never going to have as effective of a season as he did in 2007, but Colston still remains the Saints' best threat to score each week. Pierre Thomas - #23 - Running back - 5'11" - 215lbs
Tue. Nov 3, 2009 |
STATS
News: Thomas had 14 carries for 91 yards and a touchdown and also caught a pass for a score in the Saints' 35-27 win over Atlanta on Monday night.
Impact: It's hard to tell what you're going to get week-to-week from the Saints' running backs, but Thomas remains the best threat to break a big play. Look for plenty of those the next three weeks against Carolina, Tampa Bay and St. Louis. Drew Brees - #9 - Quarterback - 6'0" - 209lbs
Tue. Nov 3, 2009 |
STATS
News: Brees had two turnovers but passed for 308 yards and two scores Monday night in the Saints' 35-27 win over Atlanta.
Impact: Brees has turned the ball over six times (four interceptions, two fumbles) in the past two games, but that still hasn't derailed the Saints' perfect season. Look for turnovers to be a rarity for Brees in the next three weeks, when he faces Carolina, St. Louis and Tampa Bay. Will Smith - #91 - Defensive End - 6'3" - 282lbs
Tue. Nov 3, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Smith recorded two sacks Monday night against Atlanta.
Impact: Smith was disruptive in the Falcons' backfield all evening, making life difficult for Matt Ryan. He is playing at a high level right now and is making a case to be owned in more IDP formats. Tony Hargrove - #69 - Defensive End - 6'3" - 272lbs
Tue. Nov 3, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Hargrove recorded three tackles and a sack Monday against Atlanta.
Impact: Hargrove performed well in his first start of the season. With Sedrick Ellis out at least a few more weeks, Hargrove should see a spike in value in IDP leagues. Darren Sharper - #42 - Safety - 6'2" - 210lbs
Tue. Nov 3, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Sharper recorded three tackles and an interception Monday against Atlanta.
Impact: Sharper is not one to make too many tackles, deriving most of his fantasy value from interceptions. Luckily for his owners, he leads the league with seven of those and added another one on an errant hail-mary pass to end the game Monday night. Jabari Greer - #32 - Cornerback - 5'11" - 180lbs
Tue. Nov 3, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Greer recorded five tackles and returned an interception for a touchdown Monday against Atlanta.
Impact: Greer has been performing at a Pro Bowl level thus far this year. Greer has 30 tackles to go with two interceptions and 13 pass defensed. Jonathan Vilma - #51 - Linebacker - 6'1" - 230lbs
Tue. Nov 3, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Vilma made five tackles Monday against Atlanta.
Impact: After a slow start to the year, Vilma has picked up his game the past two weeks. Part of this may be due to teams running the ball more against the Saints' defense the last two games. Tracy Porter - #22 - Cornerback - 5'11" - 185lbs
Tue. Nov 3, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Porter (foot) recorded six tackles and an interception Monday against Atlanta.
Impact: It was a good game for Porter, who was also credited with a pass defense. His interception came off a pass tipped by Jonathan Vilma. Lance Moore - #16 - Wide Receiver - 5'9" - 190lbs
Tue. Nov 3, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Moore received a shin bruise in Monday night's game, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Impact: Nothing to worry about, really. He may be slightly limited in practice this week, but this shouldn't affect his availability or projections for next week. Roman Harper - #41 - Safety - 6'1" - 200lbs
Tue. Nov 3, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Harper recorded seven tackles Monday against Atlanta.
Impact: Another solid performance by the fourth-year safety. He now has 38 tackles on the year. David Thomas - #85 - Tight End - 6'3" - 248lbs
Tue. Nov 3, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Thomas caught two passes for 27 yards Monday against Atlanta.
Impact: Thomas mainly serves as a blocker for the Saints' offense. He will occasionally catch a pass, however, he rarely sees looks in the red zone. Lance Moore - #16 - Wide Receiver - 5'9" - 190lbs
Tue. Nov 3, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Moore caught two passes for 11 yards Monday against Atlanta.
Impact: Moore did not see many targets Monday night. This was his second clunker in a row after a good game in his return from injury. He still has value in the Saints' high-powered offense, particularly with the team facing an easy second-half schedule. Devery Henderson - #19 - Wide Receiver - 5'11" - 200lbs
Tue. Nov 3, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Henderson caught four passes for 46 yards Monday against Atlanta.
Impact: Henderson made a spectacular 24-yard grab in the second half Sunday. He could emerge as a sleeper in the second half with the Saints facing a very favorable schedule. Be warned, however. It is often like playing roulette in determining which Saints receiver outside of Marques Colston will wind up with a big game. Robert Meachem - #17 - Wide Receiver - 6'2" - 210lbs
Tue. Nov 3, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Meachem caught two balls for 47 yards Monday against Atlanta.
Impact: With a favorable second half schedule, Meachem could emerge as sleeper in deeper leagues with his ability to get open downfield. Drew Brees loves to spread the ball around to his weapons, however, so it is never quite known who will reap the benefits in the Saints' offense on a given week. Jeremy Shockey - #88 - Tight End - 6'5" - 251lbs
Mon. Nov 2, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Shockey (shoulder) caught five passes for 72 yards in the Saints' 35-27 win over Atlanta on Monday night.
Impact: Not only were many of Shockey's catches important (often on third down), but a few of them were of the highlight variety. It continues to be a nice comeback year for the combustible tight end. Marques Colston - #12 - Wide Receiver - 6'4" - 225lbs
Mon. Nov 2, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Colston hauled in six passes for 85 yards and a touchdown in the Saints' 35-27 win over Atlanta on Monday night.
Impact: The TD was especially impressive as Colston just went up and took the ball away from two defenders at the goal line. While Drew Brees is an equal opportunity distributor, Colston remains both his favorite and most talented target. Reggie Bush - #25 - Running back - 6'0" - 203lbs
Mon. Nov 2, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Bush carried just two times for three yards and caught just two passes for 11 yards but did score a touchdown in the Saints' 35-27 win over Atlanta on Monday night.
Impact: Bush broke the hearts of many Mike Bell owners when he lined up at the goal line and basically walked a quick pitch into the corner of the end zone. Bush is becoming an increasingly distant memory in the Saints' offense, yet he found a way to score for the third week in a row. Pierre Thomas - #23 - Running back - 5'11" - 215lbs
Mon. Nov 2, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Thomas carried 14 times for 91 yards and a touchdown and added two receptions for nine yards and another score in the Saints' 35-27 win over Atlanta on Monday night.
Impact: The real Thomas stood up on Monday night. While he did lose a fumble and finished with fewer carries than Mike Bell (17 to 14), Thomas showed power and explosiveness on nearly every run and both of his scores were showstoppers. His dive into the end zone off a one-yard screen pass was impressive enough, but his stop-start-explode 22-yard run in the first quarter was about as good as it gets this side of Adrian Peterson. There is simply no good reason for Thomas not to get the bulk of the carries in the Saints' running game when healthy. Mike Bell - #21 - Running back - 6'0" - 225lbs
Mon. Nov 2, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Bell had 17 carries for 49 yards and lost a fumble in the Saints' 35-27 win over Atlanta on Monday night.
Impact: So much for Bell being the Saints' goal-line back. It was Reggie Bush taking a pitch in from a yard out in the second quarter and Pierre Thomas soaring into the end zone (again from a yard out) on a Drew Brees swing pass in the fourth quarter. While Bell got more carries than Thomas (17 to 14) in this one, he did little with them, running hard but not particularly effectively (2.9 yards per carry) and coughing up a fumble. Given the way Thomas played (6.5 yards per, 100 total yards, two scores), it's hard to imagine Bell getting the majority of carries in another game going forward. Drew Brees - #9 - Quarterback - 6'0" - 209lbs
Mon. Nov 2, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Brees completed 25-of-33 passes for 308 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in the Saints' 35-27 win over Atlanta on Monday night.
Impact: Most weeks, Brees makes it look easy for his receivers, but in this one everyone from Marques Colston to Jeremy Shockey to Devery Henderson were making sensational catches to help Brees' stat line (and compensate for a costly fumble that was returned for an Atlanta touchdown). Make no mistake though, Brees still had a terrific game with 9.3 yards per attempt and a 111.7 passer rating. Jeremy Shockey - #88 - Tight End - 6'5" - 251lbs
Mon. Nov 2, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Shockey (shoulder) is active for Monday's game against Atlanta.
Impact: Shockey has been a reliable target for Drew Brees this season, snagging at least four receptions in all six games. Tracy Porter - #22 - Cornerback - 5'11" - 185lbs
Mon. Nov 2, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Porter (foot) is active for Monday's game against Atlanta.
Impact: Porter is starting to garner attention in deeper IDP leagues and will look to build his case against Matt Ryan and the Falcons on Monday night. Scott Fujita - #55 - Linebacker - 6'5" - 250lbs
Mon. Nov 2, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Fujita (calf) is inactive for Monday's game against Atlanta.
Impact: Fujita missed practice all week and will be replaced in the lineup by Troy Evans. John Carney - #3 - Kicker - 5'11" - 185lbs
Mon. Nov 2, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Carney (hip) is active for Monday's game against Atlanta.
Impact: He's always a threat to post double-digit points kicking for the explosive Saints offense. About the only downside is that Drew Brees and company are pretty good at getting into the end zone, resulting in extra points rather than field goals. Sedrick Ellis - #98 - Defensive Tackle - 6'1" - 305lbs
Sat. Oct 31, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Ellis (knee) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Falcons, the Picayune reports.
Impact: Ellis' absence will likely mean more work this week for Anthony Hargrove and Kendrick Clancy. Scott Fujita - #55 - Linebacker - 6'5" - 250lbs
Sat. Oct 31, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Fujita (calf) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Falcons.
Impact: Fujita didn't practice all week, so he looks iffy at best for Monday's game. John Carney - #3 - Kicker - 5'11" - 185lbs
Fri. Oct 30, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Carney (hip) participated fully in practice Friday, the Saints' official site reports.
Impact: Health-wise Carney should be fine, and job-wise he remains the kicker on the league's most potent offense. Jeremy Shockey - #88 - Tight End - 6'5" - 251lbs
Fri. Oct 30, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Shockey (shoulder) participated fully in practice Friday, the Saints' official site reports.
Impact: As expected, Shockey is not in any jeopardy of missing Monday night's game against the Falcons' struggling defense. Tracy Porter - #22 - Cornerback - 5'11" - 185lbs
Fri. Oct 30, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Porter (foot) missed Friday's practice, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Impact: Porter's foot was stepped on during Thursday's practice, but coach Sean Payton thinks Porter will be "fine" for Monday night. Scott Fujita - #55 - Linebacker - 6'5" - 250lbs
Fri. Oct 30, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Fujita (calf) missed practice again on Friday, the Saints' official site reports.
Impact: Fujita looks like a long shot to play Monday night, but Saturday's final injury report should give us more information. Jeremy Shockey - #88 - Tight End - 6'5" - 251lbs
Thu. Oct 29, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Shockey (shoulder) was limited at practice Thursday.
Impact: He'll probably end up listed as probable for Monday's game against the Falcons, so unless we hear otherwise, we'll assume his Week 8 status is not in question. Scott Fujita - #55 - Linebacker - 6'5" - 250lbs
Thu. Oct 29, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Fujita (calf) did not practice Thursday.
Impact: More on his status as the week continues, but Fujita's status for Monday's game against the Falcons is looking cloudy. Heath Evans - #44 - Running back - 6'0" - 250lbs
Thu. Oct 29, 2009 |
STATS
News: Evans has a torn right knee ligament that will sideline him for the rest of the season.
Impact: Saints coach Sean Payton said Thursday that Evans was having surgery for an anterior cruciate ligament tear and would be placed on injured reserve. Payton also said the club signed fullback Kyle Eckel. Evans has been a key blocker in the Saints' running game, which ranks third in the NFL. Kyle Eckel - #36 - Running back - 5'11" - 237lbs

News: The Saints have signed Eckel, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

News: Evans has been placed on IR due to a torn ACL, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Wed. Oct 28, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Thomas can be expected to receive more carries Monday night against Atlanta, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Impact: Thomas received only eight carries Sunday against Miami. On Tuesday, coach Sean Payton admitted that he probably passed the ball too often to start the game. Don't expect Payton to make the same mistake against a Falcons' offense capable of putting up big numbers. Thomas should receive more carries early in the game, but Mike Bell is established as the "closer" for the second half. Thomas is capable, but will have to do more damage earlier in games before Payton brings in Bell's fresh legs. David Thomas - #85 - Tight End - 6'3" - 248lbs
Wed. Oct 28, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: With the injury to Heath Evans, Thomas is being considered as an option at fullback for Monday's game against Atlanta, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Impact: Thomas filled in as the emergency fullback last week when Evans went down with an apparent knee injury. The Saints are evaluating their free-agent options at fullback in addition to considering using Thomas or backup running back Lynell Hamilton. The decision will likely be based on the extent of Evans' injury. If Thomas is tagged to fill in for Evans, he would see a slight uptick in value as Evans has vultured a few touchdowns this year near the goal line. Lynell Hamilton - #30 - Running back - 6'0" - 235lbs

News: Ellis (knee) will likely not play in Monday's game against Atlanta, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Impact: While no injury details were given explicitly, it was hinted that Ellis would be unavailable for Monday's game. Anthony Hargrove will be the main beneficiary of Ellis's absence. It is doubtful the injury is season-ending. Heath Evans - #44 - Running back - 6'0" - 250lbs

RotoWire
News: Evans (knee) will likely be unavailable for Monday's game against Atlanta, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Impact: While coach Sean Payton did not give injury details, it was hinted that Evans will likely not play in Monday's game. There have been no indications, however, that the injury is season-ending. Regardless, Evans receives very few touches per game and should not be owned except in very touchdown-heavy leagues. Devery Henderson - #19 - Wide Receiver - 5'11" - 200lbs
Mon. Oct 26, 2009 |
STATS
News: Henderson had a solid performance in the Saints' 46-34 comeback victory at Miami on Sunday, finishing with four catches for 71 yards.
Impact: Henderson had seven catches for 77 yards in the three previous games with no more than 40 yards in each. He's had 71 or more in the three other contests and 174 of his 312 yards when starting. Marques Colston - #12 - Wide Receiver - 6'4" - 225lbs
Mon. Oct 26, 2009 |

News: Colston had five catches for 72 yards and scored a touchdown for a second straight game in the Saints' 46-34 comeback win at Miami on Sunday.

News: Shockey had a season-high 105 yards on just four catches, including a career-best 66-yard reception, in the Saints' 46-34 comeback win at Miami on Sunday.

News: Bell rushed for 80 yards on 12 carries in the Saints' 46-34 comeback victory in Miami on Sunday.

Mon. Oct 26, 2009 |
STATS
News: Brees threw three interceptions and was sacked five times Sunday in Miami, but he finished with 298 yards and a touchdown and rushed for two more as the Saints (6-0) rallied for a 46-34 victory.
Impact: Brees just missed his fourth 300-yard performance in six games, and he's thrown all of his 14 touchdowns in those four contests. Scott Shanle - #58 - Linebacker - 6'2" - 245lbs
Mon. Oct 26, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Shanle made six tackles and recovered a fumble Sunday in Miami.
Impact: After a down couple of weeks, the linebacker stepped up with a solid performance against the Dolphins. His fumble recovery set up the Saints' touchdown plunge to end the first half and spark their comeback. While he won't wow anyone with his play, Shanle has performed consistently this season, averaging just under five tackles a game with a couple of picks and a couple of fumble recoveries. Jabari Greer - #32 - Cornerback - 5'11" - 180lbs

RotoWire
News: Greer recorded two tackles and two pass defenses Sunday in Miami.
Impact: Greer continued to play well Sunday locking up Ted Ginn for most of the afternoon. Teams have begun to be wary of Greer's presence on the field and have started to throw toward the other side of the field, yet Tracy Porter had performed well as the other starting corner. Tony Hargrove - #69 - Defensive End - 6'3" - 272lbs
Mon. Oct 26, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Hargrove recorded four tackles and two sacks Sunday in Miami.
Impact: With Sedrick Ellis leaving Sunday with an apparent knee injury, Hargrove stepped up and delivered an excellent performance. If Ellis is out for an extended period of time, Hargrove has the skills to be a force for the Saints' defensive line. Roman Harper - #41 - Safety - 6'1" - 200lbs
Mon. Oct 26, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Harper recorded three tackles and forced a fumbled Sunday in Miami.
Impact: For the second straight week, Harper forced a fumble. He's averaging just over five tackles a game and has played well near the line of scrimmage, as he has blitzed more than any other player on the Saints' defense. Darren Sharper - #42 - Safety - 6'2" - 210lbs
Mon. Oct 26, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Sharper made three tackles and returned an interception for a touchdown Sunday against Miami.
Impact: Sharper has handsomely rewarded fantasy owners who still had faith in his abilities this year. Sharper recorded his sixth interception of the year off a deflected pass and returned it to the house for the third time already in the campaign. Sharper has even managed to record a few tackles the past few weeks and should be started weekly in IDP leagues. Tracy Porter - #22 - Cornerback - 5'11" - 185lbs
Mon. Oct 26, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Porter made six tackles and deflected three passes Sunday against Miami. He also recorded an interception and returned it for a touchdown, the first of his career.
Impact: Porter had arguably his best day as a pro. He made a number of excellent plays to deflect passes and even recorded a pick of his own in the fourth quarter that he returned for a touchdown to ice the game. He has had a very solid season thus far and should begin to warrant consideration in IDP leagues. Jonathan Vilma - #51 - Linebacker - 6'1" - 230lbs
Mon. Oct 26, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Vilma recorded seven tackles Sunday in Miami.
Impact: Vilma rebounded strongly for a poor showing last week against the Giants. Miami ran the ball quite a bit against the Saints, and Vilma responded by making a number of good hits as the Saints' defense stiffened in the second half. Vilma is stout against the run, which means he holds more value against teams that like to run the ball. Heath Evans - #44 - Running back - 6'0" - 250lbs
Mon. Oct 26, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Evans (knee) left Sunday's game in Miami with an apparent knee injury, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Impact: Evans limped off the field under his own power, however, the severity of the injury will not likely be known until Thursday when the Saints return to practice. On any note, Evans did not score Sunday and received only three touches. Tight end David Thomas entered the game as the Saints' emergency fullback. John Carney - #3 - Kicker - 5'11" - 185lbs
Mon. Oct 26, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Carney connected on two of his three field goal attempts and four of five extra points Sunday in Miami.
Impact: After the game, Carney expressed his disappointment with his performance. Fantasy owners have no reason to worry however. His field goal miss was wide from 49 yards out, yet he had plenty of leg to make the kick. Additionally, his extra point miss came off what appeared to be a botched snap and hold. While the points from converting kicks would have been nice for fantasy owners, Carney should remain the Saints' kicker and thus, an excellent start in all fantasy leagues backed by the Saints' offense. Drew Brees - #9 - Quarterback - 6'0" - 209lbs
Mon. Oct 26, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Brees threw for 298 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. He also lost a fumble but rushed for two touchdowns Sunday in Miami.
Impact: The ever-consistent Brees had a "Jekyll and Hyde" performance Sunday. Despite the four turnovers, two of which could be argued were not his fault, Brees still managed nearly 300 yards and rushed for two TDs in a game for the first time in his career. Brees was constantly under pressure, leading to the poor performance by his standards, yet the Saints still won and Brees remains an elite fantasy quarterback. Marques Colston - #12 - Wide Receiver - 6'4" - 225lbs
Mon. Oct 26, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Colston caught five passes for 72 yards and a touchdown Sunday in Miami.
Impact: Drew Brees looked the big receiver's way often as the quarterback was under pressure for much of the game. While Colston put up excellent numbers, he could have had a monster game. Replay overruled a Colston TD late in the first half and a second TD was snatched from his hands for an interception later in the game. Despite the embarrassment of riches on the Saints' offense, Colston remains a consistent stud, as Brees always seems to find a way to get the ball to his most trusted weapon. Devery Henderson - #19 - Wide Receiver - 5'11" - 200lbs
Mon. Oct 26, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Henderson caught four passes for 71 yards and rushed once for 13 yards Sunday in Miami.
Impact: After seeing his yardage fall every week consecutively, Henderson stepped up for the offense in the second half with the Dolphins rolling coverage toward Marques Colston. He caught a few nice balls deep in the middle of the field with Miami throwing man coverage on him, although he failed to find the end zone. It is difficult to project which Saints' receiver will breakout on a given game, and Henderson is no exception. However, each holds value, particularly for a fantasy owner looking to catch lightning in a bottle. Robert Meachem - #17 - Wide Receiver - 6'2" - 210lbs
Mon. Oct 26, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Meachem did not catch a pass Sunday in Miami.
Impact: Thus is life on the Saints' offense. A week after having one of his best games as a pro, Meachem was invisible against the Dolphins. Meachem will have great games and remains a sleeper, however, the Saints have a number of weapons on offense and it remains difficult to speculate who will step up on a given Sunday. Lance Moore - #16 - Wide Receiver - 5'9" - 190lbs
Mon. Oct 26, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Moore caught two passes for 18 yards Sunday in Miami.
Impact: Moore was invisible for most of the afternoon after a good game last weekend against the Giants. With Drew Brees under pressure most of the afternoon, the quarterback was forced to throw the ball to some of his bigger targets such as Marques Colston and Jeremy Shockey to make plays downfield. There will be better days for Moore as he still remains a Brees favorite, however, he is not immune to poor performances with the number of weapons on the Saints' offense. Jeremy Shockey - #88 - Tight End - 6'5" - 251lbs
Mon. Oct 26, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Shockey (shoulder) caught four balls for 105 yards Sunday in Miami.
Impact: While he did not find the end zone, Shockey had a huge game, even recording his career-long reception of 66 yards in which he stiff-armed a Miami safety numerous times downfield. Drew Brees used Shockey to extend the field in the second half with Miami rolling coverage over to the side of Marques Colston. Shockey has had an excellent rebound season thus far and should be a must-start tight end in most formats. Reggie Bush - #25 - Running back - 6'0" - 203lbs
Mon. Oct 26, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Bush caught three passes for 16 yards and rushed three times for 10 yards and a touchdown Sunday against Miami.
Impact: Bush found the end zone for the second consecutive week on a double reverse from Miami's 10-yard line in the fourth quarter. Bush lined up as a wide out often in this game, as the Saints attempted to take advantage of the Dolphins' safeties in man coverage. Additionally, the Saints have showed the last two games that they are not afraid to get Bush the ball inside the red zone. While his numbers may not be staggering, Bush is seeing a lot of snaps at a variety of positions for the Saints' explosive offense, and should still hold some value, even though he will deliver some fantasy clunkers. Garrett Hartley - #5 - Kicker - 5'8" - 204lbs
Oct 25, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Hartley is inactive for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
Impact: John Carney will be the Saints' kicker once again this week. Lynell Hamilton - #30 - Running back - 6'0" - 235lbs

RotoWire
News: Hamilton is inactive for Sunday's game in Miami.
Impact: With a plethora of running back options for the Saints, Hamilton won't be in the mix for carries unless injuries strike. Scott Fujita - #55 - Linebacker - 6'5" - 250lbs
Oct 25, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Fujita (calf) is inactive for Sunday's game in Miami.

Oct 25, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Shockey (shoulder) is active for Sunday's game in Miami.

Oct 25, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Ellis suffered a sprained right knee Sunday and so far there is no timetable for his return to action, Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Impact: More on Ellis' status as we know it, but it looks like he'll be missing some time. Pierre Thomas - #23 - Running back - 5'11" - 215lbs
Oct 25, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Thomas ran for only 30 yards on eight carries in Sunday's 46-34 win at Miami.
Impact: Do not let the big score fool you, New Orleans had to rally to win this one, scoring 22 points in the fourth quarter. Because the Saints trailed most of the game, Thomas wasn't able to get much work early. Mike Bell was more of an overall factor, however, running for 80 yards on 12 carries with 40 of them coming in the fourth quarter. Bell ran with more authority than Thomas, although Bell did get stopped on consecutive plays from inside the six-yard line late in the fourth quarter. Coach Sean Payton seems to prefer to use Bell around the goal line, but don't worry about Thomas, he'll get plenty of opportunities. Mike Bell - #21 - Running back - 6'0" - 225lbs

News: Bell had a team-high 12 carries for 80 yards in Sunday's 46-34 win at Miami.
Impact: Bell didn't touch the ball until midway through the third quarter, but ripped off a 35-yard run on his first carry. Bell was the workhorse in the fourth quarter, rushing the ball 10 times for 40 yards, to help New Orleans take control of the game. Bell failed to score on consecutive carries inside the 10-yard line late in the fourth quarter, but in general ran hard with an attitude. Meanwhile, Pierre Thomas was basically shut down, running for just 30 yards on eight carries, and Reggie Bush had only three rushes for 10 yards, although he did score a touchdown from 10 yards out. If Bell is somehow available in your league, don't be shy because he should receive plenty of work, even with Thomas and Bush around vying for carries. Sedrick Ellis - #98 - Defensive Tackle - 6'1" - 305lbs

Both players are expected to be back at practice next week, said the person, who requested anonymity because the team's injury report had not been officially updated.
Impact: Ellis appeared to hurt his knee late in the second quarter against Miami on Oct. 25 and was helped off the field. Kendrick Clancy - #71 - Defensive Tackle - 6'1" - 305lbs
