Kari Lehtonen (ATL) News: Although Lehtonen (back) was recalled from his conditioning assignment in the AHL, the Thrahsers have not made any announcements on when they plan to give the veteran goalie his first start since October, according to Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. [+]
Impact: By no means is Lehtonen going to make or break the season for Atlanta, or for your fantasy team for that matter. It's hard to envision Atlanta carrying three goalies for too long, so keep an eye out to see what the Thrashers decide to do with Lehtonen, Johan Hedberg and Ondrej Pavelec. ( RotoWire - Mon. News: Bergfors scored the go-ahead goal with 4:26 left in a 4-2 win over Florida on Saturday. [+]
Impact: Bergfors, playing his second game for the Thrashers after joining the team in a trade that sent superstar Ilya Kovalchuk to New Jersey, scored on a 15-foot blast that went between goalie Tomas Vokoun's legs. Bergfors had 14 goals this season. "It had been a month since I scored a goal," he said. "It was great. It means a lot." ( STATS - Sun. Feb 7, 2010) |
News: Kubina had two assists in a 4-2 win over Florida on Saturday. [+]

News: Parise snapped a four-game scoring drought with a tally in Monday's loss to Philadelphia. [+]
Impact: Parise's been a little quiet of late but he usually isn't too dormant too long. Space will open up for him on the power play with the addition of Ilya Kovalchuk and there are rumors the two of them may see time together at even strength despite playing the same position. Patrik Elias (NJ - Center) News: Elias registered an assist for the second-consecutive game, posting a helper in Monday's loss to the Flyers. [+]
Impact: Elias is an integral part to the team's attack and was denied by Michael Leighton on a legitimate scoring chance. Look for him to produce close to a point-per-game pace, as he'll be seeing plenty of ice time with Ilya Kovalchuk. ( RotoWire - Mon. Feb 8, 2010) |
News: Salmela said he had a headache, but was otherwise OK after being taken off the ice on a stretcher following a scary hit to the face from the Philadelphia Flyers' Jeff Carter on Monday night. [+]
Impact: Moments after scoring a short-handed goal that gave the Devils a 2-0 lead in the second period, Salmela was struck hard by Carter's right shoulder as he skated by. Salmela tumbled to the ice and remained face down for several minutes, until the Devils' medical staff lifted him onto a stretcher. The 25-year-old Salmela was playing in his second game with his new team. The goal was his first with the Devils and second this season. ( STATS - Mon. Feb 8, 2010) | |
