News: Coach Todd McLellan said Burish (hand) is "very close" to playing and could be available for Sunday's Game 6 against the Kings, the Calgary Sun reports. [+]
Impact: Burish was similarly questionable for Game 5 but ultimately sat out in the 3-0 loss to the Kings. The 30-year-old didn't supply much in the way of offense in the regular season, charting just 3 points and minus-7 rating over 46 games. ( RotoWire - Fri. May 24, 2013) |
News: Demers returned to play in Thursday's Game 5 match-up after being out with an injury since mid-April. [+]
Impact: Demers only say 3:47 of ice time though and had two minutes in the box for a rough boarding call against LA's Robyn Regher. His return was notable because, like teammate Brent Burns, the Sharks have moved Demers to forward. Could be interesting for future games if the Sharks can stay alive. ( RotoWire - Fri. News: Niemi gave up a pair of goals on 28 shots in a losing effort Thursday against the Kings. [+]
Impact: With the Kings now up 3-2 in the series, Niemi will be tasked with stepping up his play even further in Game 6 when the series returns to San Jose. Overall, he's played well through the first five games, giving up just 10 goals in that span. ( RotoWire - Fri. May 24, 2013) |

News: Wilson is expected to miss 4-6 months after undergoing stabilization surgery on his left shoulder last week, according to Reuters. [+]
Impact: Wilson had 19 points in 25 games before undergoing a similar procedure - on his right shoulder - in April. Given the new timeframe for his expected recovery, it's questionable whether he will be available for the start of the season come October. ( RotoWire - Mon. May 13, 2013) |
News: Rinne has had arthroscopic surgery on his left hip and will need approximately four months to recover. Nashville Predators general manager David Poile said Thursday that Rinne had surgery Wednesday to correct a situation team officials were aware of last year resulting from the wear and tear from playing goaltender. [+]
Impact: Rinne tied for second in the NHL with 43 appearances in the lockout-shortened season, tied for fourth with 42 starts and ranked sixth in minutes played (2,443:46). The 6-foot-5, 204-pound Finn tied for the NHL-lead with five shutouts. Poile says they hope Rinne is ready by training camp. The general manager says Tim Thomas had the operation and won the Vezina Trophy with the Bruins taking the Stanley Cup the following year. ( STATS - Thu. May 9, 2013) |
