What happened: The Blackhawks were tired, hurting and often on their heels against Colorado. But despite skating without three key forwards, playing their second game in two nights and falling behind after two periods, they pulled out yet another win. Daniel Carcillo (right) scored the eventual game winner with 49.3 seconds left as Chicago won its 11th consecutive game and extended the best start in NHL history. Trailing after two periods for only the fourth time this season, Jonathan Toews tied it at 2 with a short-handed goal early in the third. ''Being down, resiliency, perseverance, whatever you want to call it, there's a belief in this locker room that whatever position we're in, we can come back,'' Carcillo said. What happened: Facing one of the three teams to hand them an OTL, the Hawks came out firing with four first-period goals. When the Wild came fighting with a rally in the third period to bring the score to 4-3 midway through the frame, it was Patrick Kane who came up big again with a goal just over a minute later. ''It doesn't feel like we're on a streak,'' said Bryan Bickell, who scored two goals in the first. ''We're just business, come to the rink and we're going to do what we need to do.'' Read more

What happened: This one will go down as the closest call of the entire streak. Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard held the Blackhawks scoreless for 57 minutes and 58 seconds of action, and on a national TV broadcast, it seemed like the Hawks were destined to lose. Then, a costly delay-of-game penalty changed everything. Patrick Kane rifled a rebound top shelf past Howard to tie the game with a power-play goal with just over two minutes left. Again in the shootout, it was Kane who skated slowly, bobbing and weaving, and fooled Howard. This win, more than any other one, really made us wonder who would take down the Blackhawks. What happened: Their first close call in a long time came again against the lowly Blue Jackets. Columbus stunned with a goal just 31 seconds into the game and the tempo was back and forth from there. What happened: The Hawks’ seven-game homestand concluded in dramatic fashion as Marian Hossa scored 1:44 into overtime for his ninth goal of the season. Hossa (pictured) banged home a rebound past Nikolai Khabibulin, sending the United Center crowd into a frenzy. ''It is a great feeling, obviously,'' Hossa said. ''It doesn't matter who's scoring and lately we have a lot of different guys scoring. We try to enjoy the streak, keep playing a simple game and try to find a way to win.'' Read more

What happened: The Hawks nearly let their record start slip away against one of the worst teams in the NHL. Andrew Shaw scored in the second period, but the story here was goalie Corey Crawford, who turned aside all 28 shots for his second shutout of the season. ''I'm seeing the puck well,'' Crawford said. What happened: Rookie Brandon Saad scored short-handed 2:24 into the third period, and the Hawks picked up their fourth straight win. Ray Emery stopped 26 shots to improve to 7-0. Now their record start stood alone, surpassing the Ducks’ mark from 2006-07. ''It's nice to get another win and make history,'' the 20-year-old Saad said. What happened: Despite giving up two goals in the last three minutes, the Blackhawks were able to pick up the win in the shootout on a goal by Andrew Shaw. Chicago tied the record for the best start to an NHL season held by the 2006-07 Ducks, but it came at a cost. What happened: A strong start was the key here. The Hawks were up 3-0 after two, but had to hold off the Kings, who scored two power-play goals in the third. With the win, Chicago tied the mark set by the 1984-85 Oilers for the second-longest point streak to start a season in NHL history. ''We're 15 games into the season,'' Jonathan Toews said. ''What's important to us is getting home ice advantage, making the playoffs. Those are our goals. Once you get there, the real season starts. What happened: That shootout loss to the Ducks must have left a sour taste because starting with this win over San Jose, the Blackhawks began to really, really tear through their schedule. What happened: The last game of a six-game road trip was a big one for the Chicago D and its goalie, Corey Crawford (pictured). Crawford earned the shutout, but he only had to stop 17 shots. What happened: Chicago scored four first-period goals, two by Patrick Kane, and cruised to an important victory. This one was Raffi Torres’ first game since his 21-game suspension (the Coyotes’ pest knocked the Blackhawks’ Marian Hossa out of the playoffs). What happened: The Shark Tank isn’t friendly to visitors, and the Hawks found out right away that they were in for a long one when the hosts went up 2-0 in the first six minutes. What happened: On the second night of a back-to-back, the Blackhawks finally came out on the winning side in their third straight extra-time game. Calgary took the lead with 35 seconds left, but Marian Hossa scored the equalizer with just three seconds left in the game with goalie Ray Emery pulled for an extra attacker. What happened: This was a hard-fought win for the Hawks, who were playing on back-to-back nights. Corey Crawford made 29 saves and Nick Leddy (pictured, left) had his first goal of the year in OT to give the Hawks an impressive win over their Central Division rivals.
