News: Horton underwent abdominal surgery Friday morning and will be out six weeks. Impact: Outside of a brief appearance in Tuesday's game, Horton has been sidelined since late March with a lower-body injury, and it is now apparent that he was dealing with an abdominal issue. This is a tough blow for the Blue Jackets just ahead of the playoffs, but the team has considerable experience playing without him, as he missed the first three months of the season with a shoulder injury. Horton has an outside shot to return during the postseason if the Blue Jackets advance far enough.(RotoWire, )

News: Horton is getting credit for a goal without playing in a game against Dallas. Impact: Horton scored in the first period March 10 against the Stars about 4 minutes before the game was postponed when Dallas forward Rich Peverley collapsed on the bench because of an irregular heartbeat. The rescheduled game Wednesday started from the beginning, but with the Blue Jackets leading 1-0. All stats except the goal were scrubbed, and Horton missed the makeup game with a lower-body injury. News: Horton (lower body) will not play Wednesday against the Stars, the Columbus Dispatch reports. Impact: Horton returned to the lineup Tuesday, but only made it one shift into the second period before being shut down for the rest of the game. The news that he'll miss Wednesday's contest is highly discouraging, since it suggests that he aggravated whatever lower body injury was nagging him before. This does set him up to be the answer to a very odd trivia question though. Wednesday's game is the replay of one from March 10 that ended early in the first period due to Rich Peverley's collapse, but Horton's goal from a month ago will still count and the Jackets will begin a full game up 1-0. As a result, Horton will become the first player to ever score a goal in a game for which he didn't dress. Keep a close eye on his status as the Jackets continue to fight for a playoff spot.(RotoWire, )

News: Horton (lower body) is expected to play Tuesday against the Coyotes. Impact: His return couldn't come at a better time, with both Nick Foligno and RJ Umberger sidelined for the Blue Jackets' kick to the finish line. Horton, who last played on March 29, has recorded a modest 17 points in 34 games this season, but assuming the Blue Jackets qualify for the playoffs, they'll have a proven postseason asset on hand with the veteran forward, who has 36 points in 43 career playoff games.(RotoWire, )

News: Horton (lower body) will be a game-time decision Tuesday against the Coyotes. Impact: Horton, who last suited up on March 29, has been limited to 17 points in 34 games for the Blue Jackets to date, but it looks like he may be able to return to action in time for the team's final playoff push this week.(RotoWire, )

News: Horton (lower body) was set to take part in a solo skate Sunday morning, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports. Impact: Horton doesn't appear close to resuming practice with his team, an indication he's out indefinitely. This late in the regular season, it would seem unlikely that Horton is worth hanging onto for most fantasy owners, as it wouldn't be surprising if he missed the team's final handful of games.(RotoWire, )

News: Horton (lower body) did not take the ice for pregame warmups Friday, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports. Impact: Horton is in line to miss a third consecutive game, leaving Jared Boll to fill in again.
