News: Seabrook has been suspended for three games for his hit on Blues center David Backes during their first-round playoff series. The NHL announced the punishment Sunday, Seabrook's 29th birthday. Impact: Seabrook received a five-minute major and game misconduct penalty for a vicious elbow to Backes' head late in the third period of Saturday's Game 2. Backes had to be helped off the ice and did not return during St. Louis' 4-3 overtime victory.(STATS, 2:10pm)

News: Seabrook was handed a three-game suspension Sunday for his illegal hit on the Blues' David Backes during Saturday's Game 2, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. Impact: Seabrook was immediately ejected following the hit, and with Blues coach Ken Hitchcock sounding pessimistic about Backes' chances of being available for Game 3, the league office moved quickly to keep Seabrook off the ice as well. It's a big loss for the Blackhawks, as Seabrook had provided two points in each of the first two games of the series. They'll now be without his services until Game 6 while they try to overcome a 2-0 series deficit.(RotoWire, )

News: Seabrook will have a hearing over the phone with the NHL for his hit on the Blues' David Backes on Sunday, which resulted in a game misconduct and knocked Backes out of the game, reports USA Today. Impact: The turnaround on the decision should be pretty quick, since both teams play Monday night. Since it's a phone hearing, the suspension should be less than five games. Several factors will probably come into play here, particularly how long Backes is out and the fact that Seabrook does not have a history of dirty hits. Seabrook did provide a goal and an assist in the game prior to his ejection.(RotoWire, )

News: Seabrook received a game misconduct penalty for a vicious hit on the Blues' David Backes during Saturday's Game 2, CSN's Tracy Myers reports. Impact: Seabrook caught Backes with a forearm to the head, after the Blues' center had given up the puck. Backes' head smacked back against the boards, and he exited the game with what will likely be diagnosed as a concussion. There's no question that the hit was dirty, and injuring a star player certainly won't help Seabrook's chances of avoiding a suspension. The NHL would probably prefer not to suspend key players during the playoffs, but this hit was indefensible.(RotoWire, )

News: Seabrook picked up a goal and an assist in Thursday's playoff-opening loss to the Blues. Impact: In one game, Seabrook's already reached half of his point total from last year's 23-game Stanley Cup run. However, last year saw his offensive production slip both in the regular season and the playoffs, while Seabrook brought his scoring rate back to its expected half-point-per-game level this season. Perhaps that means he's slated to make a bigger playoff impact -- good news for the Blackhawks, if so.(RotoWire, )
