News: Malkin picked up two assists Wednesday against the Blue Jackets. Impact: Malkin winced in pain on one of his very first shifts of the game after a heavy hit by Fedor Tyutin -- Wednesday was his first game action since March 23. Fortunately, he stayed in the game, totaling 17:31 TOI. The Pens held serve in Game 1 as Malkin continued to prove that he is one of the most productive postseason players in the game. With 97 points in 83 career playoff games, expect Malkin to continue to produce at a high rate moving forward.(RotoWire, )

News: Malkin (foot) was on the ice for Sunday morning's optional skate, Shelly Anderson of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Impact: Malkin also skated before the Wednesday and Friday practices, but isn't apparently near a return. News: Malkin (foot) skated before Friday's practice but doesn't appear close to returning to game action, the Penguins' website reports. Impact: Pens coach Dan Bylsma weaved his way around Malkin's possible return. "I think really what's more important is the health of the player than it is to play a game ... The health of the player is the most important thing," Bylsma said. "If that's rest to get before the playoffs, that will be it. If we have the opportunity to get him back in a game, we'll take it, but we're not going to rush him back just to get that 60 minutes of hockey." Malkin hasn't played since suffering a broken foot March 23 against St. Louis.(RotoWire, )
