News: Tampa Bay Lightning coach Jon Cooper does not think Malone's DUI and cocaine possession charges will be a distraction to the playoffs-bound team. Cooper says Sunday that the Lightning are "really looking forward" to getting back Malone "at some point.". Impact: Malone did not travel with the team for its regular-season finale at the Washington Capitals on Sunday. An officer saw Malone's SUV strike a curb after making a left turn from the center lane early Saturday, Tampa Police Lt. Paul Lusczynski said. After being pulled over, Malone got out of his vehicle, and the officer smelled alcohol on his breath, Lusczynski said. According to the police report, the officer found 1.3 grams of cocaine in one of Malone's pockets.(STATS, 2:20pm)

News: Malone (off-ice issues) is "subject to mandatory evaluation" under the terms of the NHL/NHLPA Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program (SABH), according to a statement from the NHL. "His future playing status, both in the near term and during the [Stanley Cup] Playoffs, will be determined in accordance the terms of our SABH Program." Impact: Malone was arrested and charged Saturday morning with DUI and possession of cocaine after a traffic stop in Tampa. An officer saw Malone's SUV strike a curb after making a left turn from the center lane. Malone was stopped and he got out of the vehicle, and that's when the arresting officer smelled alcohol on his breath. Malone refused field sobriety tests and when he was searched, police found 1.3 grams of cocaine in one of his pockets. His blood alcohol level was tested twice at the police station with results of 0.112 and 0.116 (0.08 is the legal limit). Suffice to say this might be the nail in his coffin this season and maybe next season, too. His ice time has been diminishing already and his on-ice value has been in decline.(RotoWire, )

News: Malone was arrested early Saturday in Tampa on charges of driving under the influence and possession of cocaine, ESPN.com reports. Said Lightning GM Steve Yzerman: "We are aware of the situation concerning Ryan Malone this morning. Ryan will not travel with the team to Washington today, but beyond that we cannot comment further at this time." Impact: The team plays Sunday, so Malone is obviously out for the regular-season finale, and his playoff status is in question, though we'll see what the investigation reveals.
