News: Girgensons finished his rookie season with eight goals and 22 points in 70 games played. Impact: The Latvian center has come a long way since getting drafted out of the USHL just two years ago. Though his numbers aren't sexy, there are plenty of positives for Girgensons. First, he was a major force for the Latvian national team in the Olympics, which held its own against a dominant Canadian team in the quarterfinal. His strong two-way play and consistent work ethic also earned him head coach Ted Nolan's trust, which translated in Buffalo, where he quickly became one of the team's most trusted players. His emergence as one of the team's top centers allowed Nolan to move Cody Hodgson to the left wing, which means Girgensons is penciled in as the No. 2 center next season. It's certainly a lot of responsibility, but Girgensons has shown that he plays with the savvy of a five-year veteran, so he should welcome the challenge.(RotoWire, )
