(.721) The red-hot Flyers took over the top spot in the rankings by running the table in Week 11. Philly won all three of its games last week, which not only stretched the club's winning streak to five but also gave the Fly Boys 15 points in their first nine games of the month.

(.667) Old man winter finally caught up with the Penguins last week. After starting December with five straight wins, Pittsburgh got cooled off by the Flyers and Rangers, losing back-to-back games last Tuesday and Wednesday. The loss to the Flyers snapped the Pens' 12-game winning streak.

(.667) The Flyers better not get too comfortable in that top spot in the rankings because Ryan Kesler and the sizzling Canucks have their eye on the prize. Kesler helped Vancouver win both of its games last week by netting four points off three goals and one assist in the team's two wins. Vancouver is 8-1-1 in its last 10 games.

(.625) By winning both of their tilts last week, Tampa Bay was able to move into the top 10 in the rankings. Mike Smith was razor sharp between the iron for the Bolts in Week 11, winning both of his starts by stopping 49 of the 51 shots he faced in regulation and overtime, plus an additional four saves in a shootout win over the Thrashers.

(.606) While Montreal came into play this week as the division leader in the Northeast, the team needs to get back on track if it wants to stay atop its division. The Habs limp into Week 12 having lost four of their last five games, including two of three last week.

(.603) While the Flyers and Penguins have been getting most of the ink of late in the East, the Thrashers have also been a nice story. Atlanta picked up six of a possible eight points last week, giving the club 14 points in its last 10 games off an impressive 6-2-2 record.

(.597) The up and down play of their goaltenders caused the Kings to fall out of the top 10 in the power rankings. In LA's two wins last week, its goalies only allowed one goal on 81 shots. In the Kings' two losses, the netminders gave up nine goals on 55 shots.

(.586) Erik Christensen's two points in three games last week helped the Rangers move up two places in the rankings. No goal was more important for New York last week than the goal he netted on Dec. 16 at MSG in the Blueshirts' 4-3 shootout win over Phoenix.

(.548) (.547) After getting chased from the net in his first start of the week, Cam Ward redeemed himself in Week 11 by stopping 88 of the 92 shots he faced in back-to-back wins over Atlanta and Anaheim. Ward was at his best on Dec. 16 when he turned away 45 of the 47 shots he faced in regulation and overtime plus an additional two stops in the shootout session of a 3-2 win over the Thrashers.

(.516) Mikko Koivu came to Minnesota's rescue in Week 11. The veteran forward helped his team put an end to a two-game losing streak when he posted three points in a 3-1 win over the Flames last Saturday night in Calgary in a game where the Wild were outshot 29-16.

(.467) Once again, Tomas Vokoun was the difference in the Panthers winning or losing games. The veteran netminder turned aside 67 of the 69 shots he faced in consecutive wins over Buffalo and Philadelphia. But Vokoun was also directly responsible for his team's only defeat of the week, giving up four straight goals to the Hurricanes in a 4-3 home loss to Carolina on Dec. 15.

(.457) The Senators should consider themselves lucky to be ranked in the same position as last week, considering the club dropped three of the four games it played in Week 11. Things could have been different for Ottawa had the team connected a few more times on the 11 power play chances the opposition handed the team in its three one-goal losses.
