A victory Tuesday over the Canucks would tie the 2006-07 Ducks for the most points to start the season. Traditionalists might quibble about the fact modern-day teams get points for OT and shootout losses, but it’s impossible to question this team’s dominance.

The Ducks just had their best trip of five or more games (at least when it comes to winning percentage, at .833). Anaheim finished the six-game trip 5-0-1, and alleged backup goalie Viktor Fasth (8-0-0) remains perfect, joining Ray Emery and Bob Froese as the only goalies to win their first eight decisions.

Ryan Kesler has points in his first two games since returning shoulder and wrist surgeries. Although not fully able to take advantage of a four-game homestead as they closed out the series with consecutive losses, the Canucks haven’t been a bad run of late.

St. Louis needed OT (Detroit) and a shootout (Vancouver) to do it, but it strung together three consecutive wins entering this week. The other was a cakewalk against Calgary, which, like the others, was with backup Jake Allen in net. No. 1 goalie Jaroslav Halak is back off injured reserve, though why not stick with Allen a little longer?

They weren’t that good, obviously. But are the Sharks really this bad? Probably not. Sure, the team that won its first seven games has dropped seven in a row. But this six-game trip, which includes two games in Chicago in seven days, is the Sharks’ toughest stretch of the season.

Minus Kari Lehtonen, the Stars sputtered. Dallas lost twice to Calgary in a matter of five days --- the first a 7-4 embarrassment with backup Richard Bachman in net. Lehtonen was forced out of Friday’s game against Vancouver, a contest the Stars came back to win.

A season after winning the Cup, the Kings have yet to find steady play in just about every part of their game. They entered Sunday with back-to-back victories, but a slow start against Chicago doomed what would have been their first statement win of the season.
