Times wires NEWARK, N.J. - Scott Clemmensen enjoyed a happy homecoming at the expense of Martin Brodeur and the Devils. Clemmensen made 26 saves to beat his former teammates and Michael Frolik scored twice as the Panthers ended a four-game skid with a 4-2 victory Friday. "All of the sights and the sounds of this building really put me at ease," Clemmensen said. "It was good to be back here. I've got a lot of good memories in this building. I'll put (this) win up there with them." New Jersey had won four in a row and seven of eight. Clemmensen, Brodeur's backup for most of his career, faced the Devils for the first time. He saved the Devils last season when Brodeur, the winningest goalie in league history, went down with a biceps injury that required surgery. Clemmensen stepped in to win 25 games, a performance that earned him a free agent contract with the Panthers . "I respect him and the organization so much," Clemmensen said. "It does mean a lot for me to come in here and beat them. I don't mean that in a negative sense at all. It's a big win for me and the team as well." Brodeur, in the opposing locker room, was still feeling the sting of defeat. "I just lost a game, so I don't think I'm happy for somebody else," Brodeur said. "I'm sure he was looking forward to this game, so good for him." Game highlights: Mike Green, whose turnover led to the tying goal, scored 1:16 into overtime to give the host Capitals a 4-3 win over the Hurricanes. Todd Bertuzzi tied it midway through the third then won it during a power play 1:07 into overtime to give the host Red Wings a 3-2 win over the Ducks. Patrick Lalime made 39 saves in his third start of the season in host Buffalo's 2-1 win over the Blackhawks. Buffalo gave Ryan Miller a rare night off. Around the league: Ice Edge Holdings, a group consisting of American and Canadian investors with five majority owners, signed a letter of intent to purchase the Coyotes from the NHL with the intention of keeping the team in Phoenix. The league bought the team in bankruptcy court for about $140 million after two other potential bidders, including Ice Edge, withdrew, largely because they could not reach an agreement on a reworked lease with the city of Glendale. The current deal is expected to approach $150 million.
