KHL coach banned for attacking fans
A Russian hockey league coach was hit with a ban Monday after he lashed out at angry fans with a hockey stick at the end of a game, Ria Novosti reported.
Watch a KHL coach lose his temper and go after fans with a hockey stick.
Vityaz Chekhov coach Andrei Nazarov climbed the boards and swung out at spectators over the glass as projectiles rained down following Sunday's KHL league game against Dinamo Minsk in Belarus.
Even when his first stick broke on the glass, Nazarov swiped another one from a player to resume his attack before finally climbing down as security moved in on the fans returning the fight.
The coach reacted after fans hurled plastic bottles onto the ice in protest at his team's dirty tactics.
The KHL issued Nazarov, whose side lost the game 3-2, with a two-game ban.
