Report: Stars, Turco need to bridge gap

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Goaltender and the Dallas are $1 million apart in their contract negotiations, according to a published report. According to the Dallas Morning News, which cited sources close to the situation, the want a one-year deal worth approximately $3.5 million, while Turco seeks a multi-year pact in the neighborhood of $4.5 million per- season.

Turco, a restricted free agent, made $850,000 last season, his first as a starter in the NHL. The University of Michigan product went 31-10-10 and set a modern-day league record with a 1.72 goals-against average. In addition, he led the NHL with a .932 save percentage and finished second in the Vezina Trophy voting to of the New Jersey .

Dallas is slated to open training camp this Friday in Vail, Colorado.
