Islanders have a lot of great young talent, cap room and if DiPietro ever returns to the lineup, a great backup goalie. One more last place season and they'll have the East locked up for the next decade if they play their cards right.

I bet you guys miss having Osgood, don't you? LOL. You guys let him go and all he did for you was turn your team around with the largest points turn around in your history and took you to the playoffs. Since you traded him, he's been to the playoffs every year and won a Stanley Cup.

Charles Wang is the only hope this franchise has. He is trying to build a focal point on Long Island that we have never had since this age of Levittowns and Shopping Malls and suburban sprawl was started post WWII. He wants our team, OUR ONLY TEAM to be the focal point of it. He is a shrewd businessman that will transform this franchise. Please stop the ignorant and RACIST comments that because he is an Asian he can not help the Islanders. He is a businessman, simply building a new arena with no center around it will put him in the same position he is in now, 10 years later when the team goes through another low. His project will make the Hockey Game the centerpiece of going to Uniondale, rather than the only reason to go to Uniondale.

The politicians are blocking the project. My suspicion is that the Owners of Roosevelt Field Mall (Who could potentially lose business to the lighthouse project) are pulling Kate Murray?s chain. You, yes you Islander fans have yourselves to blame for voting Kate Murray into office. Kate like all politicians is a coward at heart. If you want to have the lighthouse project then write to her, protest her and make her yield under the fear of losing votes.

Stop bitching about the Dipietro deal, the Milbury bonehead decisions, sound off against our local politician, or else this project will fall by the way side like all other projects do when put in the hands of politicians. WAKE UP Long Island

number one pick on the way...he is a flat out stud...pick up one or two players and PEOPLE WILL COME!!!

(Report inappropriate content)

what i dont understand is how you give ur franchise player a 15 year deal worth 100 somewhat million and hasn't played a full season yet... pathetic if you ask me

the problem is the arena and the nassau county politicans. for whatever reason they are dead set against the lighthouse project. wang may not have a clue bout hockey but least he cares enough to build a new arena and a nice community around it. even gary betman is behind it. if i was wang i'd say if i dont get a new arena in the next 3 years i'm moving the team to waterloo canada or seattle. this franchise has a become a joke. yea wang ran neil smith outta town and mind another boneheaded move by signing up a player for 15 years but least he cares enough to try and build a new arena

My father was a season ticket holder for the Isles from 1973-1992. Ticket prices got out of control, the Nassau Coliseum started to fall down and the Isles front office put one futile team on the ice after another,
Every year fans hope that the franchise will get the right chemistry, with front office, owners and players to bring the cup back to Long Island. We are always disappointed! Yes, it is pathetic and Wang, the owner might want to sell the franchise and move it to some place such as Portland so that Isles fans no longer have to suffer and can dream of what was and what might have been.

I've been an Islander fan for 28 years and this is the worst I've ever seen them play. They're pathetic!!!

(Report inappropriate content)

what really killed the islanders is the fact that they were sold to an Asian owner who had no clue about hockey hires people with no clue about hockey and pays out rageous money based on word of mouth then performence yes we are just like the knicks except the knicks kind of steady thier ship lord oh lord when are we going to steady ours

you isles fans suck...i think this team is playing some hard nose hockey...not winning many but difficult team on the schedule...they remind me of the FLYERS right before they made some aquistions...good core group just need one or two superstars to really reestablish themselves...You boys should really be supporting this club better than you represent here...its just weak!!!

Yeah Look Forward to a number one draft pick that we sent to Bridgeport for two years and then trade away for NOTHING.... (Bertuzzi, Redden, Luango, Dumont, Chara, McCabe, Connolly) the list goes on..... Crowd was about 60% Ranger last night...... Great Job Garth Snow

Its gonna be a LONG season. As much as I love this team-they are pathetic and dont let me get started on signing DP for a lenghty contract. What a wash! As flyermania said-we can look forward to the #1 draft pick next season.

Dipietro is NOT a Franchise Player:

He is not consitently great like a Mike Richter or Martin Brodeaur or even clutch like a Billy Smith or a Glenn Healy. All he is a cocky above-average goalie that shows signs of brilliance once is a blue moon.

Now we are stuck with him and his contract for the next decade.

Fat Chance we ever get a new arena too.....

Can't wait to listen to "Lets Go Rangers" all night tonight....
