News: Hiller appears to have been passed on the Ducks' depth chart by rookie Frederik Andersen, who is expected to start Game 1 against the Kings, NHL.com's Curtis Zupke reports.
Impact: Andersen enters the playoffs with wins in five of his last six regular season starts, while Hiller has been abysmal since the Ducks' outdoors game against the Kings back in January. He's gone 5-7-2 since that time, and his struggles prompted coach Bruce Boudreau to choose another rookie goalie in John Gibson to make the final two turns on the Ducks' regular season schedule. Hiller's 20 games of playoff experience probably aren't enough to make up for Andersen's dramatically better play down the stretch.
Tue. Apr 15, 2014 | RotoWire
News: All signs point to Andersen getting the start for Game 1 of the Ducks' series with the Kings, NHL.com's Curtis Zupke reports.
Impact: Although coach Bruce Boudreau wouldn't address which of his three goalies would get the nod for Game 1, Andersen looks like the top choice due to his strong finish to the season. He won five of his final six starts while going 20-5 on the campaign, leading all rookie netminders in wins. Andersen has been first off the ice for the last two practices and looks to have taken a leap over Jonas Hiller on the depth chart.
Tue. Apr 15, 2014 | STATS
News: Fistric has a lower-body injury for Anaheim.
Impact: Fistric's status is unclear for the playoffs. His Ducks are playing his former team, the Stars, so this matchup is a bit personal.
Mon. Apr 14, 2014 | STATS
News: Bonino ended his breakthrough season with his 22nd goal in Sunday's finale against Colorado.
Impact: Bonino had 12 goals and 12 assists over his final 36 games.
Mon. Apr 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: The Ducks assigned Fistric (lower body) to AHL Norfolk on a long-term injury conditioning loan.
Impact: The blueliner hasn't been in the lineup since March 15, and although the team hasn't said much about the nature of his injury, it was apparently pretty serious. The long-term conditioning assignment means the Ducks will free up an additional roster spot, but Fistric can only be loaned to Norfolk for six days unless the team requests an extension from the commissioner.
Mon. Apr 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Sbisa (upper body) returned to the ice Sunday against the Avalanche. He saw 17:21 of ice time following his two-game stint in the press box.
Impact: Sbisa proved active on both sides of the ice on his return, attempting three shots on offense while blocking three shots defensively. While Sbisa is seemingly healthy, the Ducks boast a good deal of depth on the blue line, making him something of a risk to be scratched on occasion during the postseason.
Apr 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Vatanen picked up the game-tying and game-winning asssists during an overtime victory over the Avalanche on Sunday.
Impact: Currently in his second season in the NHL, this will be Vatanen's first playoff run in the league. The Ducks will look for him to continue coming up big in clutch situations as they seek to make it further than last year's first-round exit at the hands of the Red Wings.
Apr 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Maroon scored a goal early in the third period of an overtime victory over the Avalanche on Sunday.
Impact: Maroon finished the regular season with a modest 11 goals and 18 assists, but ended on a high note, with three goals during the final three games. The Ducks will look for him to continue his recent productivity Wednesday as they start their postseason run at home against the Stars.
Apr 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Selanne played in his final regular-season NHL game Sunday -- a 3-2 overtime win over the visiting Avalanche. He finished the game plus-1 with three shots on goal.
Impact: Although he didn't factor into the Ducks' scoring in his regular-season farewell, the Finnish Flash was honored for his legendary NHL career by receiving the game's first, second and third stars. He also shared a touching moment with the Avs' J.S. Giguere -- Selanne's 2007 Cup-winning teammate who is also likely retiring at season's end -- as the two skated together, arms raised, after the game in front of a roaring crowd at Honda Center. The 43-year-old future Hall of Famer wraps up his NHL career with a staggering 1,457 points in 1,451 games, and will make one last push for his second Stanley Cup starting Wednesday versus the Stars.
Apr 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Koivu scored his 11th goal of the season -- a game-tying third-period tally -- in Sunday's 3-2 overtime win over the Avalanche.
Impact: Koivu also led the Ducks and tied his season high with five shots on goal over 14:04 of ice time in the season finale. After recording 27 points in 47 games last season, the Finnish veteran took a notable step back this year with just 29 points despite playing 18 more games -- which is to be somewhat to some degree, given that he's in the twilight of his career at age 39. Nevertheless, the 18-year NHLer will be motivated to add to his 58 points in 67 career playoff games as he begins the quest for his first Stanley Cup with the first-place Ducks.
Apr 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Bonino scored his 22nd goal of the year in style Sunday, lifting the Ducks to a 3-2 overtime win in the season finale at Honda Center.
Impact: What better way to cap one of the biggest breakout seasons in the NHL than by netting the OT winner in the very last game? Prior to this season, Bonino had toiled in relative anonymity, finding the back of the net just 11 times in 112 career games over four seasons with the Ducks. Fast forward to the end of 2013-14, however, and the 25-year-old Connecticut native has become a fantasy force, finishing the season with career highs in goals (22), assists (27), points (49), shots (159), plus-minus (plus-14) and PIM (22). Of course, much of his productively came alongside the two-headed monster of Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry, but he also found ways to get it done while playing with multiple linemates across all four lines. We wouldn't reach for Bonino next year, but you should definitely set your sights on him come draft day. Furthermore, this guy has all the makings of one of those unexpected playoff heroes who carries his team to the Cup.
Apr 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gibson picked up his third victory in as many NHL starts Sunday, turning aside 29 of 31 shots in a 3-2 OT win over the visiting Avs.
Impact: Since the Ducks were comfortable with their playoff positioning, they gave Gibson the nod in three of their last four games. Not only did the 20-year-old emerge victorious in all three, but he posted a sparkling .964 save percentage and 1.00 GAA along the way. Unless both Jonas Hiller and Freddy Andersen fall apart in the playoffs, Gibson will be a long shot for any further playing time this year, but he flashed some serious upside in his short three-game stint in Orange County.
Apr 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Beauchemin won't play Sunday against the Avs.
Impact: The report notes that Anaheim's scratches Sunday include Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf, Tim Jackman, Mark Fistric and Bryan Allen. Like the others, Beauchemin is just being rested for the playoffs.
Apr 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gibson is slated to start Sunday's game against the Avs, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Impact: Gibson, who stopped 36 of 38 shots in a 5-2 win over the Sharks on Wednesday, is thus slated to make his third career NHL start in Sunday's season finale.
Apr 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: The Ducks plan to rest Perry on Sunday against the Avs, the Orange County Register's Eric Stephens reports.
Impact: Ryan Getzlaf is also slated to rest, as the Ducks enter Sunday's game in playoff preparation mode.
Apr 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: The Ducks plan to rest Getzlaf on Sunday against the Avs, the Orange County Register's Eric Stephens reports.
Impact: The same applies to Corey Perry, with the Ducks in playoff preparation mode in their season finale.
Sun. Apr 13, 2014 | STATS
News: Bonino ended a five-game drought without a point with his 21st goal in Saturday's shootout win at Los Angeles.
Impact: Bonino has just eight points over his last 22 contests.
Apr 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Smith-Pelly scored in regulation and then was the only skater to find nylon in the shootout in Saturday's 4-3 win over Los Angeles.
Impact: It's too early to get excited about his fantasy prospects; he's just 21 and has all of nine points this season. Smith-Pelly's trying to make the best of a depth call-up.
Apr 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Anderson allowed three goals in regulation, but was flawless in overtime and the shootout in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Kings.
Impact: This dispels any lingering concerns over his recent upper-body injury; you should regard him as a go for the playoffs.
Sat. Apr 12, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Andersen (upper body) will start Saturday's game against the Kings, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Impact: Andersen exited last Friday's game with an injury, but the issue didn't turn out to be particularly serious. Between Andersen, Jonas Hiller, and promising youngster John Gibson, the Ducks have three intriguing goaltending options for the playoffs. It's unclear which netminder will be between the pipes for the first game of Anaheim's opening playoff series.
Fri. Apr 11, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Hiller said he will not play Saturday but he isn't sure about whether or not he'll play in Sunday's regular-season finale, Helene Elliott of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Impact: With a playoff spot already locked up, the Ducks will give Hiller at least one of the final two games off to gear up for what they hope will be a lengthy run. Hiller looks like he could use the rest, as he's given up 11 goals in his last three outings.
Fri. Apr 11, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Selanne, who announced in August that he would retire at season's end, won't take the ice Saturday against the Kings but will play his final regular-season game Sunday against the Avalanche, James Mirtle of The Globe and Mail reports.
Impact: Selanne has not played both ends of back-to-back games this season as the Ducks have sought to keep him fresh. That plan will continue into the final weekend of the regular season even though Selanne said he is strong enough to play both games.
Thu. Apr 10, 2014 | STATS
News: Gibson made 36 saves in his second NHL start, and the Anaheim Ducks clinched their second straight Pacific Division title with a 5-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday night.
Impact: Gibson recorded a 3-0 win over Vancouver in his NHL debut Monday and stopped 18 shots.
Thu. Apr 10, 2014 | STATS
News: Maroon scored two goals, and the Anaheim Ducks clinched their second straight Pacific Division title with a 5-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday night.
Impact: Maroon has four goals and seven assists in his last 10 games. He has 10 goals and 18 assists in 60 contests this season.
Thu. Apr 10, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Sbisa missed Wednesday's game against the Sharks with an upper-body injury, the Associated Press reports.
Impact: Sbisa's absence was lessened by the return of top blueliner Cam Fowler, who had missed the last three weeks of action with a leg injury. With the Ducks close to full strength on defense now, it might have been difficult for Sbisa to find regular ice time, even if he weren't dealing with the injury.
Thu. Apr 10, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Fowler (leg) returned to action Wednesday, logging 20:18 of ice time.
Impact: He wasn't particularly active on either end in his return, attempting just one shot on goal and registering one hit and one blocked shot. It could take him a little while to round back into form after missing over three weeks of games, but once he gets a few contests under his belt, he should play a meaningful role defensively for the Ducks during the postseason.
Wed. Apr 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Getzlaf notched an assist during a 5-2 victory over the Sharks on Wednesday.
Impact: Getzlaf has assists in three straight games, and with a final push, could hit 90 points for the second time in his career -- he's got 87 right now.
Wed. Apr 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Selanne nabbed two assists during the first half of the second period of a 5-2 win over the Sharks on Wednesday.
Impact: While it is great to see the veteran have a solid night, it is worth noting that it also ends a four pointless streak for Selanne. The Ducks will still likely rely on Selanne's experience as the playoffs get close.
Wed. Apr 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Silfverberg scored an empty-net goal late in the third period of a 5-2 victory over the Sharks on Wednesday.
Impact: While Silfverberg hasn't done anything phenomenal recently, his impressive rookie season has to give the Ducks a good feeling about the future.
Wed. Apr 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Beleskey scored a goal and grabbed an assist during a 5-2 win over the Sharks on Wednesday.
Impact: Beleskey is off to a good start to the month, with two goals and two assists so far this April. However, it should not be forgotten that he only had 19 points going into the month.
Wed. Apr 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Perry scored a goal and picked up an assist during a 5-2 win over the Sharks on Wednesday.
Impact: Wednesday's performance is just another chapter in Perry's electric season. He has a three-game point streak going, the second-most goals in the league, and now has the fourth-most points of any player in the NHL this season. The guy is playing well.
Wed. Apr 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gibson stopped 36 of 38 shots on goal during a 5-2 win over the Sharks on Wednesday.
Impact: While it is unlikely that Gibson will see much ice time behind Jonas Hiller and Frederik Andersen, the fact that the Ducks gave him his second straight start shows that the team can envision a future for him. Gibson has won each of his first two starts while carrying a .964 save percentage, and his future appears to be very bright.
Wed. Apr 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Maroon scored two goals during a 5-2 defeat of the Sharks on the road Wednesday.
Impact: Though his performance Wednesday was impressive, it should be remembered that it ends a six-game long goalless streak and is his ninth score of the season.
Wed. Apr 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Fowler (leg) was on the ice for warmups prior to Wednesday's game, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Impact: Fowler was expected to be a game-time decision Wednesday, but his presence in the pre-game warmups suggests that he won't be a scratch.
Wed. Apr 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Fowler (leg) will be a game-time decision Wednesday against the Sharks, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.
Impact: Fowler hasn't suited up since March 14, but has been skating recently, and may be able to return Wednesday. The blueliner has six goals and 30 assists in 67 games this season, and had three points in his last two games before getting hurt.
Wed. Apr 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gibson will start in net Wednesday against the Sharks, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.
Impact: With Jonas Hiller struggling lately, head coach Bruce Boudreau will give Gibson the reins for the second straight game. The rookie is fresh off a shutout of the Canucks in his first ever NHL start Sunday.
Tue. Apr 8, 2014 | STATS
News: Getzlaf recorded his 55th assist Monday against Vancouver.
Impact: Getzlaf has two goals and 11 assists over his last 11 contests. His 86 points are five shy of his career-best 91 from 2008-09.

Impact: Gibson was just recalled from Anaheim's AHL affiliate in Norfolk on Sunday.
Tue. Apr 8, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Andersen (upper body) took part in Tuesday's practice, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Impact: Andersen was able to face some shots Tuesday and said he experienced no pain while practicing. Even so, coach Bruce Boudreau was still unwilling to clear him for game action, leaving Jonas Hiller and John Gibson to serve in goal Wednesday against San Jose.
Mon. Apr 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Coach Bruce Boudreau indicated that Fowler (leg) will play this week.
Impact: With only three games left after Monday, it was unclear whether Fowler would play in these last few regular season games, or sit out and prepare for the playoffs. Even though it appears he'll see action at some point this week, we don't know when he'll play or how much ice time he'll see, so fantasy owners may still want to look elsewhere if a viable replacement is available.
Mon. Apr 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gibson will start in goal Monday night against Vancouver. It'll be his NHL debut.
Impact: Jonas Hiller's lost three straight, while Frederik Andersen is dealing with an upper-body injury, so Gibson will get to make his first NHL start. The 2011 second-rounder's had a fine season for AHL Norfolk, delivering a .919 save percentage and 2.34 GAA.
Mon. Apr 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Perry logged an assist early in the third period of a 3-0 shutout of the Canucks on Monday.

Mon. Apr 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Palmieri scored his 14th goal of the year goal during the second period of a 3-0 shutout of the Canucks on Monday.
Impact: Palmieri's production remains fairly inconsistent on the Ducks' third line, but with 31 points on the year, he does offer some utility in deeper leagues.
Mon. Apr 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Winnik scored an unassisted, shorthanded goal during the first period of a 3-0 shutout of the Canucks on Monday.
Impact: After a brief cold spell, Winnik has picked up his play lately. He has five points over the course of his last five games.
Mon. Apr 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gibson stopped all 18 shots on goal in his first NHL start Monday against the Canucks, taking home a 3-0 victory.
Impact: While he wasn't tested much in this one and may not get much playing time behind Jonas Hiller and Frederik Andersen (once Andersen's healthy), you can't ask much more of a goalie than a shutout in his first NHL appearance.
Mon. Apr 7, 2014 | STATS
News: Perry scored his 42nd goal of the season in Sunday's loss at Edmonton.
Impact: Perry's 42 goals this season trail only the 49 by Alex Ovechkin and he has five goals in his last five games.
Apr 6, 2014 | RotoWire

Apr 6, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Smith-Pelly was recalled from AHL Norfolk on Sunday, Lisa Dillman of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Impact: Smith-Pelly will help beef up Anaheim's forward depth following the news that Tim Jackman suffered a broken hand in Friday's game. The 21-year-old winger has 37 points in 48 games with Norfolk on the season.
Apr 6, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gibson was recalled from AHL Norfolk on Sunday, Lisa Dillman of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Impact: With Frederik Andersen not expected to practice first until Tuesday as he deals with an upper-body injury, Gibson will be on hand to serve as Jonas Hiller's understudy. There's a chance Gibson could get a start Monday against Vancouver, with Hiller already confirmed to start the first game of the back-to-back Sunday vs. Edmonton.
Apr 6, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Fowler (leg) worked out on the ice Sunday morning, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Impact: Fowler hasn't closed the door on drawing back into the lineup before the end of the regular season, but with just one week remaining and his exact return timetable still unclear, it's probably best for most fantasy owners to drop Fowler in favor of a healthy, contributing player.
Apr 6, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Andersen (upper body) is expected to resume practicing Tuesday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Impact: The Ducks haven't felt compelled to call up an extra goalie as of yet, an indication that Andersen's injury wouldn't seem to be too concerning. Jonas Hiller figures to start the next two games in the net for Anaheim, but if Andersen's recovery goes smoothly, look for him to make a turn or two in the net over the Ducks' final three regular-season games.
Apr 6, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Hiller will be between the pipes Sunday against the Oilers, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Impact: Hiller will be facing off against Edmonton's Viktor Fasth, the goalie who formerly served as his understudy and an occasional challenger for starting duties in Anaheim. Hiller has another up-and-coming goalie behind him now on the depth chart in Frederik Andersen, but he's probably played well enough this season to hang onto the No. 1 gig the rest of the way. He has struggled of late, however, losing six of his last nine outings.
Sat. Apr 5, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Jackman suffered a broken hand Friday, and the injury will require surgery, the Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Impact: There's no timetable for a return, so Jackman can be considered out indefinitely. He won't be back during the regular season, and his playoff availability may depend on how long the Ducks stay alive. With five points and 103 penalty minutes in 36 games, he's provided about what you'd expect from a fourth-line tough guy.
Fri. Apr 4, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Hiller stopped 13 of 17 shots on goal before leaving the game with 2:55 left in the first period of a 5-2 loss to the Predators on Friday. After teammate Frederik Andersen was injured, he then returned to play the third period.
Impact: While he'll still likely remain the first choice to start in net, Hiller's team cannot be happy with his recent play as the playoffs get close. He's now lost six of the last nine games in which he's started in goal.
Fri. Apr 4, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Winnik scored a goal during the second period of a 5-2 loss to the Predators on Friday.
Impact: While Friday's goal ends a seven-game-long goalless streak, it is still worth mentioning that Winnik now has four points over the course of his last three games.
Fri. Apr 4, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Palmieri scored a goal during the first period of a 5-2 defeat at the hands of the Predators on Friday.
Impact: Friday's goal snaps a four-game-long pointless streak for Palmieri.
Fri. Apr 4, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Andersen left Friday's game after the second period with an upper-body injury, Joshua Cooper of The Tennessean reports.
Impact: Andersen took a hard shot to the face during the second period and seemed to be a bit rattled when it happened. He closed out the period but never returned to the bench for the start of the third. He is being considered day-to-day for now.
Fri. Apr 4, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Hiller will be between the pipes for Friday's game against the Predators, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Impact: Hiller will be looking to get back on track after a rough month of March, in which he posted a 3.11 GAA and .889 save percentage. However, that won't come easy for him against a sizzling Nashville squad that has averaged 4.16 goals over its last six games.
Thu. Apr 3, 2014 | STATS

Impact: Andersen is 19-5-0 with a 2.27 GAA.

Wed. Apr 2, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Beauchemin scored the game-winning goal late in the third period of a 3-2 defeat of the Oilers on Wednesday.

Wed. Apr 2, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Andersen stopped 30 of 32 shots on goal and registered an assist during a 3-2 win over the Oilers on Wednesday.

Wed. Apr 2, 2014 | RotoWire
News: In addition to notching the game-winning assist, Perry scored two goals during the third period of a 3-2 victory over the Oilers on Wednesday.
Impact: Perry has looked incredible lately, with six points over the course of his last three games. He is now not only in sole possession of the second-most goals, but is also tied for the third-most points of any player in the NHL this season.
Wed. Apr 2, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Fowler (leg) could return sometime next week, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Impact: Fowler was originally expected to miss the rest of the regular season, but it sounds like he might be able to return just in time to get a few games in before the playoffs start. The blueliner was having a solid season before getting hurt in March, racking up six goals and 30 assists through the first 67 games.
Wed. Apr 2, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Andersen will start Wednesday's game against the Oilers, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.

Impact: Monday's goal ends a four-game pointless streak and a 26-game goalless streak for Lindholm. Despite inconsistent point production, the 20-year-old defender's had a hugely promising rookie year, with 27 points and a plus-27 rating.

News: Getzlaf scored a power-play goal and assisted on Corey Perry's game-tying goal during the third period of a 5-4 overtime victory over the Jets on Monday.
Impact: He just keeps rolling -- that's 83 points for Getzlaf, now his second-highest season total. The Ducks have seven games left, and Getzlaf will need to record nine points in that span to match his career high of 91, set back in 2008-09. That's quite doable -- after all, he has 10 points in his last seven contests.
