News: Sabres' GM Darcy Regier expects Roy to return next season, reports The Buffalo News. Roy is entering the final year of a six-year contract signed in the summer of 2007.
Impact: Roy struggled to just 44 points in 80 games and was the subject of trade rumours for much of the 2011-12 season. A return to previous levels isn't out of the question, but ice time down the middle will be harder to come by with the late-season emergence of Tyler Ennis and the club's acquisition of Cody Hodgson.

News: Szczechura has signed to play in the Czech Republic, according to The Buffalo News.
Impact: The 26-year-old had a bit of success in some brief time with the Sabres last season, but this is an organization with a lot of good prospects, and as the season wore on, others stepped ahead of him when call-ups were needed. Given Szczechura's success at the AHL level -- 21 goals in 57 games last season -- we wouldn't be surprised to see him do well overseas, and this may not be the last we've heard from him.

News: Sulzer was re-signed by the Sabres to a one-year, $725,000 deal on Monday, WGR 550 Sports Radio reports.
Impact: Sulzer only scored nine points on the season, which didn't exactly create many ripples in the fantasy community. Still, he helped to stabilize the Buffalo blue line after being acquired before the trade deadline and could be ticketed for a bigger role next season.
