News: Jones relieved Jonathan Quick for the third period of Thursday's Game 1 loss to the Sharks, stopping four of four shots.
Impact: It's interesting to see Quick -- who was ineffective, allowing five goals in two periods -- get yanked in this one, but the move seemed to invigorate the Kings, as they stormed back from a 5-0 deficit to make it a game at 5-3 before Brent Burns' empty-netter sealed it. Quick is likely to be back out there for Game 2, but if he struggles again, well, there's not much room for error in the playoffs, and that means Jones could get his shot.

News: Quick was tagged for five goals on 28 shots in two periods of play during Thursday's playoff-opening loss to the Sharks.
Impact: Martin Jones replaced him in a third period dominated by Los Angeles, stopping all four shots that came his way while the Kings mounted an unsuccessful comeback attempt. Despite this outcome, it'll be surprising if the Kings don't stick with their franchise netminder in Game 2.
Thu. Apr 17, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Quick is slated to start Thursday's playoff opener against the Sharks, LA Kings Insider's Jon Rosen reports.
Impact: Quick dropped his last three starts at the end of the regular season, giving up eight goals in the process, but it's still no surprise that the Kings will turn to the 2011-12 Conn Smythe Trophy winner in the playoffs. He'll square off against San Jose's Antti Niemi on Thursday.
Tue. Apr 15, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Doughty (upper body) is practicing fully and has declared himself ready to play Wednesday against the Sharks, LA Kings Insider's Jon Rosen reports. "I know I'm good to go," Doughty said. "I don't need [battle drills] to test my strength or anything like that."
Impact: With coach Darryl Sutter echoing Doughty's sentiments in declaring his team "100 percent" healthy, it's safe to assume the defenseman will be available for his usual minutes in Game 1. He last played April 3 after suffering an upper-body injury in a game against the Sharks, of all teams. Doughty finished the 2013-14 season with 10 goals, 27 assists and a plus-18 rating over 78 games.

News: Vey was recalled from AHL Manchester on Wednesday, LA Kings Insider's Jon Rosen reports.
Impact: He'll likely function mainly as depth for the Kings throughout the playoffs, with limited ice time likely to come his way.

News: Kopitar continued his torrid stretch in the season finale, scoring twice in Saturday's shootout loss to Anaheim.
Impact: Kopitar scored 16 goals over his final 31 games after totaling 13 goals in his first 51 contests.
Apr 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Kopitar tallied twice in the third frame of Saturday's shootout loss to Anaheim. He finished the regular season with 29 goals, 70 points and a career-high plus-34 rating.
Impact: Kopitar finished the regular season atop most of LA's major offensive categories, and is easily the most valuable fantasy asset among the Kings' skaters.
Apr 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Quick closed the regular season with a 4-3 shootout loss to Anaheim on Saturday night. He made 21 saves to finish the campaign with a 2.07 GAA and .915 save percentage.
Impact: Expect Quick to get the overwhelming majority of postseason starts for the Kings.
Sat. Apr 12, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Quick is between the pipes for Saturday's game against the Ducks, Helene Elliott of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Impact: As expected, Quick will handle the regular-season finale. He's struggled a bit lately and will hope to gather some momentum heading into the playoffs.
Sat. Apr 12, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Regehr (undisclosed) is expected to return for Saturday's game against the Ducks, LA Kings Insider reports.
Impact: Regehr missed the last three games, but his injury isn't thought to be particularly serious, and he wants to get one more regular-season game in before the playoffs. Saturday's game represents his last chance to do so, and he'll presumably suit up, barring a late setback.
Sat. Apr 12, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Quick is in line to start Saturday, LA Kings Insider Jon Rosen reports.
Impact: Quick will start the regular season finale for the Kings before gearing up for the postseason. The netminder hit a bump in the road in his last start, allowing three goals on just 18 shots. He will look to turn things around Saturday in preparation for a playoff run.
Fri. Apr 11, 2014 | STATS
News: Jones stopped all 17 shots in Thursday's 3-0 win at Edmonton.
Impact: Jones' shutout was his fourth of the season, tied with Vancouver's Eddie Lack for the most among rookies.
Fri. Apr 11, 2014 | STATS
News: Gaborik had two goals and an assist in Thursday's 3-0 win at Edmonton.
Impact: Gaborik has three goals and eight assists over the last nine games.
Fri. Apr 11, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Doughty (upper body) could return for Saturday's game against the Ducks, NHL.com's Curtis Zupke reports.
Impact: Doughty has missed the last three games, but there is a chance he could return for the Kings' season finale Saturday. A decision on whether or not he plays will ultimately be made by head coach Darryl Sutter.
Fri. Apr 11, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Williams picked up two assists and went plus-3 in Thursday's 3-0 win over Edmonton.
Impact: Though he took a team-high six shots on net, Williams had to settle for assists only. And though he snapped a four-game scoreless slump, Williams still only owns a highly disappointing 42 points in 81 games this season.
Fri. Apr 11, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Kopitar scored a goal, added an assist and went plus-3 in Thursday's 3-0 victory over Edmonton.
Impact: He's got five goals and four assists in his last eight games now, and has pushed his way into a tie with Boston's Jarome Iginla for the NHL's fourth-best rating (plus-33). While he's off his typical scoring pace, largely thanks to a relatively quiet January, Kopitar remains one of the game's most dangerous weapons. And it doesn't hurt that he's showing great chemistry with Marian Gaborik.
Fri. Apr 11, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gaborik scored a pair of goals and assisted on Anze Kopitar's tally in Thursday's 3-0 win over Edmonton.
Impact: The whole Los Angeles offense ran through Gaborik on this night, giving him points in three straight and eight of his last nine. Gabby's been a new man as a King, showing great chemistry with star center Anze Kopitar, and they have to be hoping to carry that into the playoffs.
Fri. Apr 11, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Jones had to make just 17 saves Thursday against Edmonton for his fourth shutout of the season.
Impact: Jones was making his first start in a week, and he continued what's been a spectacular rookie campaign, albeit against an Oilers team that looks ready to start golfing. The Kings have one more game to go, and it's possible Jones starts that as well in order to rest and protect Jonathan Quick for the playoffs.
Thu. Apr 10, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Jones will start Thursday against Edmonton, LA Kings Insider's Jon Rosen reports.
Impact: Jones' most recent start came last Thursday in San Jose, where he allowed two goals while making 19 saves in a losing effort. As Jonathan Quick rests ahead of the playoffs, Jones will get a chance to follow up his 24-save shutout of the Oilers from earlier this season when the puck is dropped Thursday.
Thu. Apr 10, 2014 | STATS
News: Gaborik notched an assist in Wednesday's 4-3 shootout loss at Calgary.
Impact: Gaborik has eight points in the last eight games.
Thu. Apr 10, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Stoll scored his eighth goal of the season in Wednesday's loss to the Flames.
Impact: Stoll and Anze Kopitar both scored within 24 seconds of each other in the second period to help the Kings dig themselves out of an early 3-0 hole. He narrowly missed out on a game-winning tally in overtime, as goalie Karri Ramo stopped Stoll's attempt to jam the puck over the goalie's pads from point-blank range. The second-period goal was Stoll's first score since Feb. 26.
Thu. Apr 10, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Voynov dished out two assists in Wednesday's shootout loss to the Kings.
Impact: Voynov's level of production has generally disappointed this season, but he appears to be closing on a high note. He also scored a goal in the team's previous game against the Canucks.
Thu. Apr 10, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Quick saw only 18 shots Wednesday against the Flames, but gave up three goals and took a shootout loss.
Impact: Aside from a 40-shot onslaught Saturday against the Canucks, Quick's defense has done a good job of making light work for their goalie lately. Quick has seen 30 or fewer shot attempts in six of his last nine games, allowing him to pick up six wins during that span. While Wednesday wasn't Quick's best effort, the impressive play of his mates on both sides of the ice could set the Kings up for a nice playoff run.
Thu. Apr 10, 2014 | RotoWire
News: King (upper body) scored a goal in his return to the lineup Wednesday.
Impact: It was King's 15th goal of the season, and he now has five points (three goals, two assists) in his last five games. He had been out since March 29.
Wed. Apr 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Regehr is out Wednesday with an unspecified injury, Lisa Dillman of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Impact: With the Kings essentially locked into their playoff positioning at this point, it's expected that Regehr is mostly getting the night off for maintenance purposes. Look for both Regehr and Drew Doughty, who will also sit out Wednesday with an injury, to be ready to go for the postseason.
Wed. Apr 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Doughty (upper body) remained on the ice for extra work Wednesday, suggesting that he'll likely sit out the team's evening tilt against the Flames, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
Impact: We'll await confirmation of Doughty's Wednesday status, but with the playoffs around the corner, it wouldn't surprise us if the Kings played it safe with the blueliner, with the postseason in mind.
Wed. Apr 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Quick was the first goalie off the ice for the Kings on Wednesday morning, suggesting that he is in line to draw the start in the team's evening tilt against the Flames, Lisa Dillman of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Impact: Quick is thus slated to make his second straight start for the Kings, and assuming that assignment holds, we wouldn't be surprised to see Martin Jones draw the nod Thursday against the Oilers.
Wed. Apr 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Doughty (upper body) is traveling with the team, but his status for Wednesday's game is still uncertain, LA Kings Insider reports.
Impact: The Kings play on back-to-back nights starting Wednesday, but Doughty's status remains uncertain. The Kings have very little to play for in the final three games of the regular season, so don't be alarmed if Doughty is kept on the shelf until the playoffs as a precaution.
Wed. Apr 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: King (upper body) has practiced for a full week now and should return to the lineup soon, LA Kings Insider reports.
Impact: The Kings play back-to-back games starting Wednesday, and King figures to be a possibility for at least one of those games. He's been out since March 29, but Wednesday's morning skate should help determine when he'll return.
Tue. Apr 8, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Lewis signed a two-year, $3.05 million contract extension with the Kings on Tuesday, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
Impact: Lewis has been valuable for the Kings in a bottom-six role this season, contributing 11 points and a plus-1 rating over 70 games. He's saved his best work for the defensive end, where he's compiled 137 hits and 35 blocked shots.
Mon. Apr 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Doughty (upper body) didn't participate fully in Monday's practice, NHL.com's Curtis Zupke reports.
Impact: The Kings haven't commented on Doughty's status for the remaining three regular-season games, but it wouldn't be surprise if he sat out, as the team's playoff spot in the Western Conference is more or less solidified. Doughty will be reassessed during Wednesday's morning skate before the team determines whether he can play later that night against the Flames.
Apr 6, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Doughty (upper body) did not play Saturday, but remains day-to-day, reports LA Kings Insider.
Impact: The Kings don't play again until Wednesday, so it wasn't surprising to see them rest Doughty for another game to make sure he's healthy. Look for them to be cautious with Doughty, with an eye toward having him ready for the playoffs.
Apr 6, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Voynov scored his fourth goal of the year in a 2-1 loss at Vancouver on Saturday night. The marker enabled him to reach the 30-point plateau for the first time in his career.
Impact: Rearguards who can post points are pure gold in most fantasy formats. Voynov is just 24 and will likely further develop his offensive game in the years to come.
Apr 6, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Quick made 38 stops Saturday, but two third-period goals sent him to a 2-1 loss against Vancouver.
Impact: Fear thee not, fantasy owners -- while his performance isn't quite up to the dream season of two years ago, he's still among the NHL's elite.
Sat. Apr 5, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Jones was the only goalie on the ice for Saturday's morning skate, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
Impact: Jones will likely get a second consecutive start, but fantasy owners will still want confirmation. Likely headed for the No. 6 seed, the Kings can afford to let Jonathan Quick rest.
Sat. Apr 5, 2014 | RotoWire
News: King (undisclosed) took the ice for Saturday's morning skate, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
Impact: King hasn't played since March 29 but may slot back in Saturday against the Canucks. He's been surprisingly productive this season, notching 14 goals and 15 assists in 74 games.
Sat. Apr 5, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Doughty (upper body) did not take part in Saturday's morning skate, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
Impact: Doughty hasn't officially been ruled out for Saturday's game, but he's not a good bet to play. While his injury isn't thought to be particularly serious, the Kings have minimal incentive to rush their best blueliner back.
Sat. Apr 5, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Greene (cut) quickly returned to Saturday's game after being stitched up by arena doctors, according to CBC's Hockey Night in Canada.
Impact: He's one tough dude. We don't know how many stitches or where the cut actually is, but there was a lot of blood. Good to see him back so fast.
Sat. Apr 5, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Greene left Saturday's game at the mid-point of the third period after sustaining some kind of cut on his ankle or foot, according to CBC's Hockey Night in Canada.
Impact: There's no word on the type or severity of the injury, but the Canucks' team doctor was called to the Kings' dressing room immediately. The game had to be stopped to clean the ice near the Kings' crease and close-up footage showed Greene's foot quite bloodied. He'd just blocked a Jason Garrison shot using his ankle and then took down Ryan Kesler in the crease.
Sat. Apr 5, 2014 | RotoWire
News: King (upper body) will not play Saturday at Vancouver, LAKingsInsider.com reports.
Impact: King has not played since March 29, but he participated in Saturday's morning skate and seems close to returning. With the Kings headed for a three-day break, King is a good bet to return for the team's next game, Wednesday in Calgary.
Sat. Apr 5, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Quick will start Saturday at Vancouver, the team's official site reports.
Impact: Martin Jones took the ice for morning skate, but Quick will get the nod for Saturday's game, after watching Jones lose to the Sharks on Thursday. Quick stopped 17 shots in a shutout of the Coyotes in his last start and has won six of his last seven games.
Sat. Apr 5, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Doughty (upper body) didn't practice Friday but has not been ruled out for Saturday's game, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Impact: It would seem unlikely that Doughty is able to lace up the skates Saturday given that the Kings have already clinched a playoff spot, but he's still traveling with the team. Consider him day-to-day but don't be alarmed if the Kings decide to take extra caution here.
Thu. Apr 3, 2014 | STATS

Impact: Kopitar has six points over the last four games.
