News: Eller returned to the active lineup Thursday after being a healthy scratch for one game.
Impact: Eller opened the game on the fourth line, but was bumped up to the third line during the game. He had three shots on goal and two hits.
News: Weaver made his Montreal debut Thursday night, filling in for the injured Josh Gorges in a 5-2 loss to the Coyotes. He skated 15:22 and had one shot on goal, one blocked shot and two penalty minutes.
Impact: Gorges broke a bone in his right hand and went back to Montreal to have it evaluated. Weaver played on the third defensive pairing with Douglas Murray. He may get a few more starts, pending the results of Gorges' evaluation.
News: Vanek made his Montreal debut Thursday night, playing 15:34 in a 5-2 loss to Phoenix. He had one shot and finished minus-1 while skating on a line with Tomas Plekanec and Brian Gionta.
Impact: While it wasn't a very productive debut -- Vanek was out of sync with Gionta and Plekanec -- we'll look at the bright side and see that he skated on the first-unit power play. We should also note that the Habs were playing their third game in four nights, so they lacked energy -- particularly in the first period when they fell behind, 3-1. It's wise to take the long view here. Vanek is learning how to play with new teammates and he'll be helpful in the team's run to the postseason.
News: Gorges has a broken bone in his right hand, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Impact: Gorges suffered the injury last Saturday and played through it the last two games, but couldn't go on any longer. He may be shut down for a bit, but the Canadiens have not offered an estimated downtime. Mike Weaver filled in for him in Thursday's loss to the Coyotes.

News: Gorges has a hand injury.
Impact: Gorges has reportedly returned to Montreal to have his hand examined.
News: Markov scored one of the Habs' goals and assisted on the other during Thursday's 5-2 loss in Phoenix.
Impact: While Markov has been racking up assists regularly, this was his first goal since a two-score game way back on Jan. 11. But over the 18 goal-free games in between, Markov collected a dozen assists to keep his fantasy owners satisfied.
News: Subban assisted on both Montreal goals in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Coyotes.
Impact: He's been hot lately, with points in four straight -- two goals, four assists. Though he hits the occasional scoring lull, Subban should be an everyday fixture in fantasy lineups across all leagues.
News: Budaj was beaten for five goals on 23 shots in Thursday's loss to the Coyotes.
Impact: Budaj's made all five starts for the Habs since the Olympics, as Carey Price (lower body) is still sidelined, and the results have been decidedly mixed -- he's 2-2-1 and has allowed 17 goals in that span.
Brendan Gallagher - #11 - Right Wing - 5'9" - 178lbs
Thu. Mar 6, 2014 | STATS
News: Gallagher had a goal and an assist for Montreal in the team's 4-3 win over Montreal on Wednesday.
Impact: Gallagher is playing well for Montreal.
News: Eller will return to Montreal's starting lineup Thursday, LNH.com reports.
Impact: Eller will be back in the Canadiens' lineup after being a healthy scratch for Wednesday's game. While it's good to see Eller back starting, he's been very cold of late and has yet to score a goal in 2014.
News: Budaj will start in goal Thursday night, The Montreal Gazette's Dave Stubbs reports.
Impact: Budaj was rested for Wednesday's game, which should allow him to be fresh for Thursday's start while Carey Price (lower body) remains out. In four starts since returning from the Olympic break, Budaj has allowed 12 goals and won twice.
News: Gorges is slated to be evaluated for a hand injury.
Impact: The report adds that Gorges -- who saw 21:28 worth of ice time Wednesday against the Ducks -- is returning to Montreal on Thursday to get his injury checked out, so he'll miss at least one game, with the Habs playing the Coyotes on the road Thursday evening.
David Desharnais - #51 - Center - 5'7" - 177lbs
News: Desharnais had an assist in Wednesday's shootout win over the Ducks, his fourth straight game with a helper.
Impact: The line of Desharnais, Max Pacioretty and Brenadan Gallagher is carrying the bulk of the Habs' scoring load of late. Stretching back to before the Olympic break, Desharnais has 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in the last eight games.
News: Eller was a healthy scratch Wednesday night against Anaheim. Daniel Briere took his spot at center on the third line.
Impact: Eller hasn't scored a goal in 21 straight games and has just one assist during that stretch. As the Canadiens have added forward Thomas Vanek, there's a good chance we'll see Eller get more bench time.
News: Vanek, who was acquired from the Islanders at Wednesday's trade deadline, is expected to suit up for Thursday night's game in Phoenix, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Impact: The Canadiens needed some forward help and got a high-impact guy in Vanek, who will probably line up alongside Tomas Plekanec and Brian Gionta.
News: The Islanders have traded Vanek to the Canadiens in exchange for Sebastian Collberg and a second-round draft pick, TSN.ca reports.
Impact: In 60 games combined between the Islanders and Sabres to date this season, Vanek has notched 53 points. He's in the last year of his contract, but for now he'll provide the Habs with a nice boost up front for the team's stretch run.
News: Updating a previous report, Budaj will not start Wednesday against the Ducks, Pat Hickey of the Montreal Gazette reports.
Impact: It was assumed Budaj would get the starting nod Wednesday with Carey Price (lower body) on injured reserve, but it sounds like they'll give him the day off after he made the first four starts out of the break for the Canadiens. Dustin Tokarski will make his season debut in his stead. Budaj is presumably on track to get the start for the second game of the back-to-back Thursday vs. the Coyotes, but it's possible Price could be ready to play by then, after he was on the ice for Wednesday's morning skate.
News: Tokarski will be in the crease Wednesday against the Ducks, Pat Hickey of the Montreal Gazette reports.
Impact: The Habs were expected to go with Peter Budaj on Wednesday, but it appears they'll save him or perhaps Carey Price (if healthy) for Thursday's game vs. the Coyotes. Tokarski had a 2.34 GAA and .918 save percentage over 34 games with AHL Hamilton, but it's probably not advisable for fantasy players to count on him to deliver a strong outing against one of the NHL's elite teams in the Ducks.
News: Pacioretty scored a goal in Wednesday's shootout victory over the Ducks.
Impact: The winger tallied another point Wednesday, giving him a total of six in his last four games. He now has 30 goals and 13 assists through 55 games this season.
Brendan Gallagher - #11 - Right Wing - 5'9" - 178lbs
News: Gallagher notched a goal and an assist in Wednesday's shootout victory over the Ducks.
Impact: The 21-year-old was also a plus-2 on the night, and is proving to be a productive forward in just his sophomore season. He now has 16 goals and 19 assists through 63 games this year.
News: Tokarski allowed three goals on 42 shots in Wednesday's shootout victory over the Ducks.
Impact: The appearance was Tokarski's first since March of 2012, and his debut in a Canadiens uniform. He played well, but will likely return to AHL Hamilton when starter Carey Price (lower body) is activated off IR.
Wed. Mar 5, 2014 | STATS
News: The Montreal Canadiens have acquired winger Thomas Vanek from the New York Islanders. Montreal sent forward prospect Sebastien Collberg, a 2014 second-round pick and a conditional fifth-rounder to the Islanders for Vanek on Wednesday.
Impact: Vanek, who will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, becomes the Canadiens leading scorer with 53 points. The 30-year-old is in the final season of a $50-million, seven-year contract. It's the second time Vanek has been traded this season. The Islanders gave up winger Matt Moulson along with first- and second-round picks to get Vanek in late October. Collberg was Montreal's second-round pick in the 2012 draft.
News: The Canadiens reassigned Dubnyk to AHL Hamilton on Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of Journal de Montreal reports.
Impact: Dubnyk was reassigned to Hamilton almost immediately after being acquired from the Predators on Wednesday, and will provide some experienced organizational depth for the Canadiens as the season winds down.
News: Budaj will start between the pipes Wednesday against the Ducks, Dave Stubbs of the Montreal Gazette reports.
Impact: This comes as no surprise, considering Carey Price is still on the shelf with a lower body injury. The Habs also acquired goalie Devan Dubnyk from the Predators on Wednesday, but Budaj is still expected to retain the backup job when Price returns.
News: The Predators have traded Dubnyk to the Canadiens in exchange for future considerations, Dave Stubbs of the Montreal Gazette reports.
Impact: With Carey Price still dealing with a lower body injury, Dubnyk gives the Habs an experienced backup option in goal for the time being behind Peter Budaj.
Tue. Mar 4, 2014 | STATS
News: The Panthers traded defenseman Mike Weaver to Montreal on Tuesday in exchange for a fifth-round draft choice in 2015.
Impact: The Panthers also acquired Roberto Luongo from the Canucks for goalie Jacob Markstrom - once considered their future in net - and forward Shawn Mattias.
News: Vanek has been scratched from the lineup Tuesday versus Winnipeg, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.
Impact: No trade has been completed as of yet but one will certainly be completed before the deadline Wednesday. Anaheim was hot and heavy after Vanek earlier Tuesday so they could be seen as the favorites unless a mystery team jumps in at the last minute. Either way GM Garth Snow needs a win here or he's going to get lambasted by the fan base for acquiring Vanek in the first place.
News: Vanek will be a healthy scratch for Tuesday's game against the Jets, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
Impact: Vanek's absence from the lineup almost certainly indicates that the Islanders are working on trading the forward in advance of Thursday's deadline. Vanek's name doesn't necessarily have the appeal of players like Ryan Kesler that are being bandied about in trade rumors, but with the forward set to become a free agent this offseason, the Islanders asking price for him could be low.
News: Price (lower body) skated during Tuesday's practice but will not play Wednesday vs. Anaheim, John Lu of TSN Montreal reports.
Impact: Instead of joining his teammates at Wednesday's morning skate, Price will work out on his own, likely leaving Peter Budaj to make another start in goal. Though Price is traveling with the Canadiens on their road trip, there's been no commitment at this time as to whether they expect the goalie to be available at some point. He'll continue to be evaluated on a day-to-day basis.
News: The Canadiens have acquired Weaver from the Panthers in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2015 NHL entry draft, CBC.ca reports.
Impact: The 35-year-old Weaver recorded just six points in 55 games for the Panthers, so his fantasy impact has been minimal, but he'll add some depth and experience to the Habs' blue line for the stretch run.
News: Tinordi generated four hits, blocked three shots and picked up a five-minute fighting major in Monday night's 2-1 loss to the Kings.
Impact: The rookie defenseman took on L.A. tough guy Kyle Clifford in an energetic bout that ended in a draw. The Habs are pleased with Tinordi's work on the blue line during this recent stint with the parent club and trust him enough to use him on the second penalty-kill unit.
News: Pacioretty assisted on the Canadiens' lone goal in Monday's 2-1 loss to the Kings. For those counting along at home, Pacioretty has points in three straight games.
Impact: Pacioretty, the Habs' leading scorer, has three goals and two assists in the last three games, but was largely a non-factor against the defensive-minded Kings. He did not have a shot on goal Monday after getting 14 pucks to the net in the previous two games.
News: Subban scored for the second straight game Monday, notching Montreal's lone goal in a 2-1 loss to the Kings. It was his 10th of the season.
Impact: Subban should have some fresh legs for the stretch run after being a healthy scratch in all but one game for Team Canada in the Olympics.
News: Price (lower body) looks unlikely to play on the team's current road trip, which runs through Saturday, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Impact: The report reads like the writer's opinion and not a fact handed down from the Canadiens' medical team, so we're not taking Price's unavailability this week as gospel. Price, who has missed the previous four games, has been placed on injured reserve but is eligible to be activated at any moment. Montreal's road trip finishes up with games Wednesday (at Anaheim), Thursday (at Phoenix) and Saturday (at San Jose).
News: White (illness) is expected to return to the lineup Monday, John Lu of TSN Montreal reports.
Impact: White skated on the fourth line at morning skate and appears all set to play after missing the last two games due to illness.
News: Budaj will be in the crease Monday against the Kings, TSN.ca reports.
Impact: Budaj will make his fourth straight start with Carey Price still slowed by a lower-body injury. He's produced a mixed bag of results in his run as the No. 1 starter, with a 2-0-1 record and .896 save percentage.
News: Budaj made 20 saves on 22 shots in a loss to the Kings on Monday.
Impact: With Carey Price on injured reserve, Budaj is the de facto starter for the Habs for now. He's currently having the best season of his career, with a .918 save percentage and a 2.20 GAA.
News: Price (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Monday, Marc-Antoine Godin of the Montreal Press reports.
Impact: The move doesn't indicate any sort of setback for Price, but rather it's a retroactive placement on injured reserve that allows the Canadiens to open up a roster spot. While no return timetable has been established for Price, he'll at least be out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Kings.
News: Drewiske cleared waivers Monday and has been reassigned to AHL Hamilton.
Impact: It's believed that Drewiske is almost fully recovered from offseason shoulder surgery, but the Habs were unwilling to take the risk of using him in the lineup after he missed the last five-plus months of action. Should he prove himself healthy and effective at Hamilton, Drewiske could be recalled by Montreal at a later date.
News: Dubnyk was placed on waivers Monday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Impact: The mid-January move to Nashville never allowed Dubnyk to rehabilitate his value, as he made just two starts and was throttled for nine goals on 60 shot attempts. With Pekka Rinne expected to return to the net for the Predators' game on Tuesday, Dubnyk became expendable. His passable career production prior to this season may convince another squad to roll the dice and claim him off waivers.
Dale Weise - #22 - Right Wing - 6'2" - 210lbs
Mon. Mar 3, 2014 | STATS
News: Weise's face was cut by a skate in a 4-3 overtime win over Toronto on Sunday.
Impact: The CBC is reporting that the Montreal forward needed several stitches but returned to finish the game.
Sun. Mar 2, 2014 | STATS
News: Markov had three assists Saturday in a win over Toronto.
Impact: He has seven points on a five-game point streak.
Sun. Mar 2, 2014 | STATS
News: Pacioretty had two goals Saturday in a win over Toronto.
Impact: He has four points in his last two games.
News: Vanek scored two goals, including a power-play tally, and had an assist against the Panthers on Sunday. He also had seven shots on goal.
Impact: This gives Vanek 21 goals on the season, and Vanek has scored at least 20 goals in every season of his career. He should be fine even if he stays with the Islanders, but a trade could boost his value.
News: Updating a previous report, the Canadiens have officially placed Drewiske (shoulder) on waivers Sunday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Impact: The move was expected after Drewiske failed to make the road trip with the team over the weekend. If he goes unclaimed, which seems likely, he will end up with AHL Hamilton.
News: Drewiske did not join the club on its current road trip and is likely to be put on waivers soon.
Impact: Drewiske has been nursing a shoulder issue, but hasn't been very strong on the ice even when healthy. He is expected to be placed on waivers soon and, if unclaimed, will head to AHL Hamilton.
News: Galchenyuk scored a first-period goal in Saturday night's 4-3 overtime win over Toronto. It was his first goal since returning from a hand injury three games ago.
Impact: Galchenyuk's had some growing pains along the way, but the kid's got offensive skills. He has points in two straight games and is looking to make himself a top-six forward, if not by the end of this season, certainly next season.
News: Budaj made 22 saves in a 4-3 overtime win over Toronto on Saturday night.
Impact: He'll be between the pipes until Carey Price returns from his minor injury. He has back-to-back wins, but has allowed eight goals in those two games. He's a risk.
News: Pacioretty scored twice, including the game-winner, in Saturday's overtime win over the Maple Leafs. The winner came on the power play.
Impact: He has 29 goals on the season, including six in his last five games. He's closing in on his career high in goals (33). Use him well.
News: Subban picked up a goal and an assist, both of which came on the power play, in Saturday's overtime win over the Maple Leafs. He now has a career-best 41 points on the season.
Impact: The points are his first since his return from the Olympics. And they came in the game that followed an in-game benching by coach Michel Therrien on Thursday night. There's a love-hate relationship between these two, but the trend is pretty clear -- P.K. gets heavier ice time the game after a benching. And he tends to respond with offense.
News: Markov set up three Montreal goals, including two on the power play, in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over Toronto. He's currently riding a five-game, seven-assist streak.
Impact: He may not have done well at the Olympics, but he has 11 assists in his last 10 games. Four of those helpers have come with the man advantage. Enjoy the ride.
News: Bournival (concussion) will not play Saturday night against Toronto, Hockey Inside Out reports.
Impact: Bournival has returned to practicing with the team, but is wearing a no-contact jersey.
News: White (flu) did not practice Friday, Hockey Inside Out reports.
Impact: White missed Thursday's 6-5 shootout win over Pittsburgh because of the illness and is in jeopardy of missing a second straight game when Montreal lines up against Toronto on Saturday.
Fri. Feb 28, 2014 | STATS
News: Budaj will make a third straight start in goal when the Montreal Canadiens host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night.
Impact: Budaj was in goal for a 2-1 overtime loss to Detroit in Montreal's first post-Olympics game Wednesday and started again for a 6-5 shootout win in Pittsburgh the following night, as Carey Price continues to sit out with a lower-body injury.
News: Pacioretty scored a goal and contributed an assist in Thursday's shootout win over the Pens,
Impact: He'd been held off the board in consecutive games bookending the Olympic break. Pacioretty had a quiet tournament with Team USA, picking up just an assist and four PIM in five games, so it's good to see him pick up the pace now that he's back in his featured role with the Habs.
David Desharnais - #51 - Center - 5'7" - 177lbs
News: Desharnais picked up a pair of helpers in Thursday's 6-5 shootout win over the Penguins.
Impact: After going scoreless Wednesday in his first post-Olympic game, Desharnais got back on the horse in this one, and he's now got seven points in his last five contests.
News: Bournival (concussion) was a participant in Friday's optional practice, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Impact: The rookie donned a blue non-contact jersey, skating for the first time since his February 8 concussion against the Canucks. He has amassed 13 points, 59 hits and 36 blocked shots while averaging 10:30 of ice time in 50 games in his first NHL campaign.
News: Price (lower body) will not be available Saturday against the Maple Leafs, but he will travel on the Canadiens' upcoming road trip.
Impact: Price sat out practice Friday and will give way to Peter Budaj again Saturday, but the fact he will be part of the Canadiens' traveling party indicates he could return to action sometime during the team's upcoming four-game road trip that stretches from March 3-8.
News: Budaj will be between the pipes for Saturday's game against the Maple Leafs, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Impact: Regular goaltender Carey Price is battling a lower-body injury and did not practice Friday, so Budaj will start his third straight game Saturday. Budaj gave up five goals in his last start Thursday, but he had not allowed more than three goals in a game all season prior to that, and owns a 2.16 GAA and .920 save percentage in 16 games (13 starts).
News: Price (lower body) did not take part in Friday's practice, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Impact: The Canadiens were hoping that Price would be able to skate Friday after sitting out the team's previous two games, but it appears his setback is still a bother. It remains to be seen if Price will be able to suit up for the Canadiens' next game Saturday against the Maple Leafs.
Daniel Briere - #48 - Center - 5'10" - 179lbs
News: Briere scored two goals, added an assist and went plus-2 in Thursday's 6-5 shootout victory in Pittsburgh.
Impact: Not too shabby for a fourth-liner who saw only 9:06 of ice time. In fact, Briere spent most of his time alongside the enforcer duo of Travis Moen and the mustachioed George Parros, adding to the unlikelihood of this mini offensive outburst. At 36 years old, the former 95-point scorer is a shade of his former self, but somehow has still managed to disappoint fantasy owners who tempered expectations after he was bought out by the Flyers last summer. Thursday's performance brings Briere's season point totals to 11 goals and 10 assists; maybe, just maybe, a combination of pride and recent trade rumors will help motivate him to salvage his season. More importantly, if the Quebec-native sees an uptick in ice time and linemate quality, he could be a sneaky pickup down the stretch. Add him to your watchlist.
News: Budaj allowed five goals on 32 shots, but ended up with a 6-5 win Thursday as Montreal outlasted the Penguins in a shootout.
Impact: If it were allowed, both teams would arguably have been better off pulling their goalies and turning the nets around, as everything seemed to get by them. Budaj tended the twine for the second night in a row - his first back-to-back starts of the season - and miraculously came away with his seventh win in 13 tries. He hasn't had much fantasy relevance in his backup role to workhorse Carey Price, but you should keep him on your radar in case Price's lower-body ailment is worse than expected. The Habs play again Saturday at home against the Leafs with Price's availability still in question; monitor closely.
Thu. Feb 27, 2014 | STATS
News: White returned Monday for the Habs.
Impact: White sat out Thursday with the flu.
News: Budaj is expected to receive the start Thursday against the Penguins, Dave Randorf of TSN reports.
Impact: The Canadiens didn't hold a morning skate after Wednesday's loss to the Red Wings, so official word on the team's starting goalie for Thursday won't come down until pregame warmups. However, with Carey Price (lower body) already ruled out for Thursday, it's probably safe to assume Budaj will man the net for the second straight night.
News: White (illness) will not play Thursday against the Penguins, Ren Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Impact: White came down with the flu overnight and will need at least a day to recover from the ailment. He saw 9:04 of ice time in Wednesday's loss to the Red Wings.
News: Tinordi, who was called up earlier this week, played 13:29 in Wednesday night's 2-1 overtime loss to Detroit.
Impact: The 6-foot-6 Tinordi made his first appearance in Montreal since Oct. 19, collecting a couple of hits while using his size and body to good advantage.
News: Galchenyuk (hand) returned to game action Wednesday night and played 15:15 in a 2-1 overtime loss to Detroit. He suited up for the first time since Jan. 6, when he broke his hand.
Impact: Galchenyuk provided some spark on a night when the Canadiens slumbered through much of the game. He was on the ice for the Montreal's game-tying goal with less than a minute left and helped the Habs salvage a point they didn't deserve.
Brian Gionta - #21 - Right Wing - 5'7" - 174lbs
News: Gionta scored the only goal for the Canadiens in Wednesday's loss to the Red Wings.
Impact: Gionta has scored in back-to-back games dating back before the Olympic break. His goal Wednesday was pivotal in the final minute for the Canadiens to send the game into overtime. He now has 12 goals and 18 assists in 59 games for Montreal this season.
News: Budaj allowed two goals on 30 shot attempts in Wednesday's game against the Red Wings.
Impact: Budaj had an impressive performance in a goalie battle with Detroit's Jimmy Howard. He let in a one goal in the first period before allowing a goal in overtime. Carey Price is hurting after his gold medal performance in the Olympics, so Budaj is expected to get at least the next start for the Habs.
Wed. Feb 26, 2014 | STATS
News: Prust has an upper-body injury for the Habs.
Impact: Prust is day to day.
Wed. Feb 26, 2014 | STATS
News: Price remains out because of a lower-body injury. Canadiens coach Michel Therrien says Price aggravated the injury while representing Canada at the Sochi Olympics.
Impact: Price has a 26-17-5 record, .925 save percentage and 2.33 goals-against average this season.
News: Price's lower-body injury suffered during the Olympics will keep him out of the Canadiens' next two games, ESPN.com reports.
Impact: Supposedly this was bugging Price before the Olympics and things worsened while he was serving as the main man for Canada between the pipes for the tournament. While we won't panic yet - a number of Olympic goalies are being rested upon their return, even some of the ones who barely played - it's worth keeping an eye on since it sounds like the condition has been lingering. Peter Budaj will start at least the next two for Montreal.
News: Prust (upper body) has been moved to injured reserve.
Impact: With the forward already ruled out for Wednesday's contest, the Canadiens decided to go ahead and move him to injured reserve to clear up a roster spot for returnees Alex Galchenyuk and Travis Moen. Prust's injury isn't believed to be a long-term concern, but fantasy owners counting on him for penalty minutes (105 in 48 games) or hits (85) might need to look elsewhere for a few games.
Travis Moen - #32 - Left Wing - 6'2" - 218lbs
News: Moen was activated from injured reserve Wednesday.
Impact: Coach Michel Therrien confirmed after Tuesday's practice that Moen would be back in the lineup for Wednesday's game vs. the Red Wings, so his activation isn't exactly earth-shattering news. The 31-year-old had 10 points and a minus-2 rating in 51 games before suffering the injury.
News: Galchenyuk (hand) was activated from injured reserve Wednesday.
Impact: As anticipated, he will be available in the lineup for Wednesday's tilt with the Red Wings. It will mark his first appearance since Jan. 6. The 20-year-old has supplied 23 points in 44 games this season and is expected to slot in on the third line in his return.
News: The Canadiens recalled Tokarski from AHL Hamilton on Wednesday.
Impact: Tokarski was recalled on an emergency basis after it was announced that Carey Price (lower body) will not be able to suit up Wednesday. Expect Tokarski to assume the backup role behind Peter Budaj until Price is able to return.
News: Price (lower body) will not suit up Wednesday against the Red Wings.
Impact: The goaltender was fresh off a stellar performance for team Canada in the Olympics, but suffered a lower-body injury during Wednesday's morning skate. All we know right now is that he won't be able to go Wednesday night, so it's definitely worth keeping an eye on until we learn exactly how serious it is.
News: Prust (upper body) won't play Wednesday against the Red Wings.
Impact: While Prust is out for Wednesday's game, the Habs will get a boost up front in that contest, with both Alex Galchenyuk and Travis Moen slated to be back in action.
Travis Moen - #32 - Left Wing - 6'2" - 218lbs
News: Moen (lower body) will be back in the Montreal lineup Wednesday against the Red Wings.
Impact: The Habs will also welcome Alex Galchenyuk back to their lineup Wednesday, with Moen -- who has 10 points in 51 games to date -- set to play in his first game since Feb. 2.
News: Galchenyuk (hand) will be back in the Montreal lineup Wednesday against the Red Wings.
Impact: The same applies to Travis Moen, which sets the stage for the duo to be activated off IR by the Habs in advance of Wednesday's contest.
News: Budaj will start Wednesday's game against the Red Wings.
Impact: Budaj's last start came on Jan. 30 against the Bruins; Carey Price is presumably on track to get the nod Thursday against the Penguins.
News: Though Galchenyuk (right hand) hasn't been given the green light just yet, TSN Montreal's John Lu indicates that the forward figures to suit up Wednesday against the Red Wings.
Impact: Galchenyuk, who checks in with 23 points in 44 games to date, last played on Jan. 6, when he suffered a broken hand against the Panthers.
News: Prust (upper body) skated prior to Monday's practice, Hockey Inside Out reports.
Impact: At this point, Prust is questionable for Wednesday night's home game against Detroit.
Mon. Feb 24, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Bournival (concussion) did not take part in Monday's practice, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Impact: The rookie has yet to receive clearance to resume practicing after landing on IR prior to the Olympic break. It's looking unlikely that he'll be ready to play when the Canadiens take the ice Wednesday vs. the Red Wings.
Mon. Feb 24, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Price shut out the Swedes on Sunday to bring home the gold for Team Canada. He stopped 24 shots in the victory.
Impact: It was the second consecutive shutout for Price after he blanked the American squad Friday, and he didn't allow a single goal in his final 164 minutes of ice time in Sochi. Though the quality of the skaters in front of him will drop off considerably once he rejoins the Canadiens, Price should come out of the break with some renewed confidence.
Feb 23, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Tinordi was recalled from AHL Hamilton on Sunday.
Impact: Tinordi will be up to provide some defensive toughness and insurance in case Davis Drewiske (shoulder) misses additional time after the break. In 47 games with Hamiltion this season, Tinordi has recorded three goals, six assists and 70 penalty minutes.
Fri. Feb 21, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Price stopped all 31 shots against him in Friday's semifinal shutout of Team USA.
Impact: Price was excellent in net and moved to 4-0 for the tournament. Team USA could not find the net against Price and the tough Canadian defense. The goalie for the gold medal game was not immediately announced for the match with Sweden, but Price has a strong case as the hot hand.
