Impact: The veteran defenseman, one month shy of his 34th birthday, scored his first goal in 75 games 7:50 into the second. He lay on his back on the ice after adding a power-play goal 13:35 into the third to put Ottawa up by two. "It took him a thousand games to figure out he's an offensive defenseman,'' said Jason Spezza, who also assisted on Phillips' first goal.

News: Phillips scored twice -- once on the power play -- in Thursday's win over Nashville, his first two goals of the season in his 55th game.
Impact: It was also the 1,000th game of his career, a nice milestone for the tough blueliner. He scored just one goal all of last season, so this is quite the offensive outburst by Phillips' standards.

News: Spezza scored twice and added an assist Thursday against Nashville, ending an eight-game goalless streak.
Impact: He's certainly a streaky player; Spezza will score in bunches, then go quiet for a week or more at a time. He had an assist his last time out after six straight scoreless games, so maybe he's starting a new streak now.

News: Auld allowed three goals on 27 shots to defeat Nashville on Thursday, only his second win of the season.
Impact: His night was ruined from a statistical standpoint by Martin Erat's goal with 10 seconds remaining, but it wasn't enough to bring the Preds back. Auld has started just seven games this year and hasn't put up much in the way of stats, so his fantasy value is quite marginal.

News: Lee will draw back into Ottawa's lineup for the first time since he suffered a lower-body injury in a game against the Rangers on Jan. 12, reports TSN's Bren Wallace.
Impact: He'll replace Matt Carkner in the lineup and will pair up with Chris Phillips to form Ottawa's third defense pairing. Lee's fantasy value is limited at best as he does not possess any elite abilities, but can be effective defensively when he keeps things simple. Lee does possess a decent first pass.

News: Auld is slated to start Thursday's game against the Predators, James Gordon of the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Impact: Auld, who replaced Craig Anderson (who has started 49 games to date) early in Tuesday's loss to the Blues, will be making just his seventh start of the season.

News: Alfredsson notched his 18th goal in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to St. Louis.
Impact: Alfredsson has been one of the few Ottawa players to score with some regularity lately, tallying four in the last nine games.

News: Butler may get a look on the Sens' top line in the near future after skating with Jason Spezza and Milan Michalek on Wednesday, TSN.ca reports.
Impact: Although he's been a healthy scratch at times this season and has just nine points in 41 contests, Butler could see a significant increase in value if he's able to develop chemistry with his new linemates and carve out a larger role.

News: Anderson made 35 saves in a 5-0 loss to Toronto on Saturday night.
Impact: He's 0-5-1 in his last six starts with the Blues, Preds and Oilers on the horizon next week. He might only be the better goalie in one of those three games so choose your activations wisely.

News: Anderson stopped 30 shots in a 2-1 OT loss to the Isles on Friday night.
Impact: Anderson is 0-4-1 with a 3.22 GAA in his last five starts so he has been awful.

News: Anderson will start Saturday against Toronto, according to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun.
Impact: Make it 17 straight starts for the Sens' workhorse goalie, who now leads all NHL goalies in that category with 47. However, Anderson continues to struggle in the win column lately, having gone winless in his last five starts. He will get a chance to remedy that problem against the Maple Leafs, who he has beaten on two previous occasions this season. Roll him as you usually would.

News: O'Brien was recalled by Ottawa on Friday, TSN's Brent Wallace reports.
Impact: With just 14 points (seven goals) in 27 AHL games this year, there's not much reason to expect production out of O'Brien.

News: Anderson will face the Islanders on Friday, according to Brent Wallace of TSN.
Impact: Anderson has hit a rough patch of late losing four straight games for the Sens. He is in no danger of losing his role as the every game starter for the club despite the disappointing effort of late.

News: Condra practiced with Jason Spezza and Milan Michalek on Wednesday, Ken Warren of the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Impact: Condra will replace Colin Greening to attempt to provide an offensive spark. Greening has been playing well but a change may be effective to find some production.
