Hoyer to start for Browns

Brian Hoyer will start Sunday when the Browns travel to play the Minnesota Vikings, according to a team spokesman.
Hoyer was informed by Rob Chudzinski that he will get the start in place of Brandon Weeden, who left Sunday's game against the Ravens with a thumb injury. There is no indication on how long Weeden is expected to be out.
Hoyer was inactive for the first two games and has been third on the team's depth chart throughout the preseason.
Jason Campbell relieved Weeden against the Ravens for one series and was 1-of-4 for 6 yards. He has a 31-40 record as a starter in the NFL.
Hoyer started one game in his NFL career, last year against the 49ers, when he was 19-of-34 for 225 yards and a touchdown and an interception.
Hoyer grew up in North Olmstead and played at St. Ignatius before playing college football at Michigan State.
Chudzinski is expected to address the topic in his press conference later Wednesday morning.
