Since 2006, Prince William of Wales (left) has served as the President of the Football Association, the governing body of football in England. And while he may not be the athlete that his buddy David Beckham is, there are royals throughout the world who compete and have competed at very high levels in their sports.

Prince Albert competed in five Winter Olympics from 1988-2002 as a member of his nation's bobsled team. He's also a member of the International Olympic Committee and his wife, Charlene, competed in the 2000 Summer Olympics as a swimmer.

Charlotte Casiraghi, daughter of Princess Caroline of Hanover and niece of Prince Albert II, is an accomplished show-jumper participating in the Global Champions Tour. Casiraghi's modelesque looks also have helped her as the official equestrian ambassador of the Gucci label.

In 1926 Prince Albert (who would become the Duke of York then King George VI) played doubles at Wimbledon with Sir Louis Greig (who would become chairman of the All England Lawn Tennis Club). The duo lost in the first round to H.R. Barrett and A.W. Gore.

A decorated equestrian, Princess Anne is the only member of the royal family to have competed in the Olympic Games. In the 1976 Montreal Games, Princess Anne was a member of the British team, riding the Queen's horse, Goodwill.

The granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II (and also cousin to Wills and Harry) is an accomplished equestrian just like her mother, Princess Anne. Phillips was selected to participate in the 2008 Beijing Olympics but her horse, Toytown, sustained an injury and she was unable to compete.

English rugby superstar Mike Tindall is married to Zara Phillips, who is 13th in line to the throne but does not use a royal title. Tindall — who Phillips met in 2003 in Australia during England's triumphant Rugby World Cup campaign — has captained his country. He is currently player/coach for Gloucester Rugby Club.

Spain's Infanta Cristina (far left), Queen Sofia (2nd from left) and Prince Felipe (2nd from right) are a seafaring bunch. Queen Sofia represented Greece in the 1960 Olympics, while Infanta Cristina sailed for Spain in the 1988 Seoul Games. Prince Felipe repesented Spain in Barcelona.

In 2003, Prince Carl Philip (top left) competed in the annual Swedish cross-country ski race Vasaloppet, a 90-km race. Also an avid motorsports fan, he currently races a Porsche 911 GT3 in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia racing series.

Then-Crown Prince Harald represented Norway in sailing events during the 1964 Tokyo Games, the 1968 Mexico City Games and the 1972 Munich Games. In 1964 the Crown Prince carried the Norwegian flag in the opening ceremonies.
