London medalist's horse seized
Fresh off two silver medals at the London Olympics, Dutch show jumper Gerco Schroder’s mount has been seized as the result of bankruptcy proceedings, according to reports Friday.
London, the appropriately named 10-year-old stallion, was taken by Dutch officials after a jump-off at Greenwich Park in which Gerco took an individual silver medal. They had won silver in the team competition earlier in the week.
The horse was one of several that Dutch real estate company Eurocommerce sold to Gevi International BV earlier this year. The company is owned by Ger Visser Jnr, who is the son of the head of Eurocommerce.
Officials seized the horses to prevent their sale while they investigate whether they should be included as assets of Eurocommerce, which filed for bankruptcy in July.
