The highlight-reel regular has no international experience but could bring his star status to another level if he electrifies the masses with his dunking ability before a worldwide audience. Griffin was the only non-NBA player among the finalists for the 2009 U.S. national team, having been the No. 1 overall pick in the draft following a sophomore season at Oklahoma in which he was the consensus National Player of the Year. However, a broken kneecap suffered later that year during his first preseason with the Los Angeles Clippers took him out of the mix for the 2010 world championships. The injury kept him on the sidelines that entire season but hasn't slowed him since, as he's become one of basketball's premier power forwards without missing a game over the past two years. He was the first unanimous winner of the NBA Rookie of the Year award since 1990, ranking fourth among all players in rebounding (12.1) and 12th in scoring (22.5) during the 2010-11 season. His numbers were down a bit this year as he grew accustomed to playing alongside fellow Olympian Chris Paul, but he was still one of only three players to average at least 20 points and 10 boards. The others were U.S. teammates Kevin Love and the injured Dwight Howard, who join Griffin as the only NBA players to post more than100 double-doubles over the past two seasons. Griffin has an average post-up game and outside shot but is at his best in transition or on rolls to the basket, when those opportunities for thunderous, acrobatic dunks most often present themselves.
