CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

Before moving to the United States in 2007 to pursue international eventing, Martin was very successful in his native Australia. He spent his first two years in the U.S. working as assistant trainer to Olympic gold medalist Phillip Dutton before venturing out on his own. He quickly made an impact in American eventing and was ranked No. 2 on the U.S. Eventing Association rider of the year leaderboard. In 2009, Martin rode under the American flag for the first time and had a big year. He earned his first CCI3* win at Fair Hill with Neville Bardos and won in the CIC3* at Jersey Fresh with Belmont. Martin and Neville Bardos were part of the U.S. team at the World Equestrian Games and were the highest-placing Americans in 10th. Tragedy struck in May of 2011, though, when a fire ravaged Martin’s barn and took the lives of six horses and injured four others. The horse with the most injuries that survived was Neville Bardos. Incredibly, Martin was able to nurse the horse back to health, and for his remarkable comeback, Neville Bardos was named the 2011 USEF horse of the year. Martin will be riding Neville Bardos, Otis Barbotiere and Remington XXV in London. He finished third with Otis Barbotiere in the horse's first four-star and was named the 2012 USEF national CCI4* reserve champion. Martin is married to German Grand Prix dressage rider Silva Martin, and they run a coaching and training business out of Cochranville, Pa.
