It seemed as if tennis had found its most dominant men’s player ever in Roger Federer, but at age 26, Nadal is posing a serious threat to that claim. Five years younger than Federer, Nadal has already won 50 titles and captured 11 Grand Slam tournaments, six fewer than his chief rival. Nadal also owns something that no other current top men’s player can claim - a gold medal, earned in the 2008 Beijing Games when he beat Fernando Gonzalez in the final. Grass isn’t Nadal’s favorite surface, but he’s definitely adapted to it after primarily being a clay-court star. Nadal has twice won the men’s singles tournament at Wimbledon, and he’s participated in five of the past seven finals - losing twice to Federer and most recently, in 2011, to Novak Djokovic. He also dropped last September's U.S. Open final to Djokovic. Still, Nadal has earned more than $46 million in career winnings, and the Spanish native is putting some of that money to good use in his homeland. In July 2010, he became a part owner of La Liga’s RCD Mallorca - Nadal’s hometown team - hoping to pull the club out of debt. Despite that, he's still a passionate supporter of Real Madrid and the Spanish national team, even visiting the locker room to take part in his country’s celebration following its win in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
