    July 23, 2001 — FSN debuts the Best Damn Sports Show Period, a unique 60-minute show that blends the worlds of sports and entertainment. BDSSP provides alternative programming when a home team game isn't on across the regions. Chris Rose hosts the show with, the voice-of-the-fan, actor/comedian Tom Arnold, former baseball player John Kruk, former basketball player Reggie Theus and former NFL Hall of Famer Deacon Jones.

    Sept. 24, 2001 — Best Damn Sports Show Period goes primetime with a 7:30 PM airing each weeknight. The one-hour show also repeats nightly at 11:30 PM and the next morning at 8:30 AM. The show provides three sports news updates an hour.

    Nov. 5, 2001 — Best Damn Sports Show Period expands to 90 minutes, airing from 7:30-9:00 PM ET. D'Marco Farr becomes the new NFL expert and John Salley is the new NBA expert. Reporter Lisa Guerrero provides regular sports updates.

    Dec. 3, 2001 — Best Damn Sports Show Period moves to 8:00 PM each weeknight in a two-hour format with re-airs each night at 11:00 PM.

    June 24 — July 19, 2002 — FSN's Best Damn Sports Show Period launches the month-long "All-Star Summer" campaign. Special events include a Tom Arnold Bachelor Party Roast and the Best Dammies Awards. Guests include Ben Affleck, Adam Sandler, Will Smith, Tony Hawk, Sammy Sosa, Brett Favre and Charles Barkley. Former NFL star Michael Irvin joins the show as a special contributor for All-Star Summer, which leads to him becoming the regular football expert later that year. Leeann Tweeden joins BDSSP as the show's correspondent.

    March 27, 2003 — Best Damn Sports Show Period welcomes Chris Rock as its 1000th guest.

    April 27, 2003 — Best Damn Sports Show Period presents the 24th Annual Sports Emmy Awards as a two-hour special.

    June 3, 2003 — Fox Sports Net's Best Damn Sports Show Period adds former Boston Red Sox and Texas Rangers manager Kevin Kennedy as the MLB expert.

    July 9, 2003 — Bob Lifton is named the Executive Producer of the Best Damn Sports Show Period.

    Sept. 1, 2003 — Fox Sports Net's Best Damn Sports Show Period adds a new cast member to the crew. Former NFL cornerback Ray Crockett is named the new NFL expert.

    Sept. 15, 2003 — NY Giants DE Michael Strahan joins Best Damn Sports Show Period each week as a special NFL correspondent with a regular segment called "Talk to the Strahan.

    Jan. 5, 2004 — Fox Sports Net's Best Damn Sports Show Period moves back to a 90-minute format.

    Aug. 3, 2004 — Bryan Cox, NFL All-Pro and Super Bowl Champion, joins Best Damn Sports Show Period as the NFL expert.

    Sept. 23, 2004 — Best Damn Sports Show Period goes lives with a heavyweight championship bout between James "Lights Out" Toney and Rydell Booker. The telecast, which saw Toney win the IBA heavyweight championship in a unanimous decision over Booker, earned a .76 rating, making it the most watched primetime telecast in the history of BDSSP.

    October 11, 2004 — Raptors G Jalen Rose joins Best Damn Sports Show Period each week as a special NBA correspondent in a regular segment called "Jammin' with Jalen."

    Dec. 13, 2004 — Best Damn Sports Show Period moves to a one-hour format airing at 9:00 PM local.

    Jan. 3, 2005 — After more than 750 shows, Best Damn Sports Show Period hands the reigns of the show over to Tom Arnold, who hosts the new "late night" format alongside co-host John Salley.

    March 21, 2005 — Best Damn Sports Show Period returns to an ensemble cast featuring host Chris Rose and co-host John Salley. Tom Arnold, no longer a member of the ensemble cast, continues his presence on the show over the next year, appearing with BDSSP as a correspondent at major sporting events.

    April 11, 2005 — Former "Nasty Boy" Rob Dibble joins the cast of Best Damn Sports Show Period as the MLB expert.

    April 18, 2005 — 16-year pro football veteran Rodney Peete joins the cast of Best Damn Sports Show Period as the NFL expert.

    Aug. 26, 2005 — Seattle Seahawks RB Shaun Alexander joins Best Damn Sports Show Period each week as a special NFL correspondent.
