BDDSP 1,000: Chris Rose's Best Damn reflections
by Chris Rose, FOX Sports Net
Prior to joining FSN, Rose was a sports anchor and reporter for CNN and CNN/SI for three years. He was a fixture on the anchor desk where he covered a wide array of events and stories for both networks.
Little did Rose know what he'd gotten himself into when he strolled onto the BDSSP set to help fill-in during a rehearsal one summer day in 2001. Nobody knew this show would last this long. Critics said it wouldn't last six months. Rose and Tom Arnold, in particular didn't think it would last six weeks.
But on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, BDSSP reaches an amazing milestone, celebrating its 1,000th episode. And as Rose points out, "If you haven't seen us in a while, you're missing out. This isn't the show you remember."
The host of the craziest sports show on TV gave FOXSports.com his quick reflections of the show's run, in between tapings, schmoozing and celebrations with the folks that put the show together.
1. What was your favorite moment on the show?
Meeting Bobby Martin, the high school football player with no legs. Great kid ... awesome to see him move around on the field, and even better, hearing him talk trash to both Salley and Dibble.
2. What was your least favorite moment?
Being off of the show for two months.
3. What was your most embarrassing moment?
Getting caught checking out Jenna Elfman's ... boobs (during an interview).
4. What's your favorite off-air memory from the show?
When Jerry Springer was a guest host on the show and told some great stories about his other show during our production meeting (not suitable for air).
5. Which was your favorite Best Damn road trip?
Vegas ... enough said.
6. Who was your favorite guest?
Stevie Wonder was unreal. And meeting Magic the first time was great for me. Even though I grew up in Cleveland as a Cavs fan, Magic was always one of my favorite athletes growing up. Can't forget about Stacy Keibler and Carmen Electra. When do I stop?
7. Which guest were you most excited to meet?
See question 6. Also, the Rev. Jesse Jackson. Never thought I would be interviewing him.
8. When you see clips from the 1st show, what's the 1st thing you think?
What's up with my hair? What's up with the floor? And, is Deacon still sleeping?
9. Where do you see the show when it hits its 2,000th episode in 2011?
I can't divulge. The thought of what this show might look like in five years could make the bosses pull the plug right now.

"As much as he is deserving of certain things, he hasn't done the things that I've done and hasn't been the player I've been." |
