Johnston on Wade Phillips: He's The Right Fit

NFL ON FOX WEEK 15: TEAMS FIGHT FOR PLAYOFF POSITION — With only three games remaining in the NFL's regular season, the Arizona Cardinals, New Orleans Saints, San Diego Chargers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers fight to keep their playoff hopes alive this Sunday, Dec. 16 on FOX.

Beginning at 1 p.m. ET, Brett Favre and the Packers continue their dream season as they take on the Rams in St. Louis. In New Orleans, Drew Brees leads his Saints into a showdown with Kurt Warner and the Arizona Cardinals. Both teams are knotted at 6-7 and sit in second place of their respective NFC divisions. An NFC South battle pits the 8-5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the Atlanta Falcons. With a win against Atlanta, the Bucs draw closer to reaching the postseason.

Later at 4:15 p.m. ET, the Eagles and Cowboys compete in Dallas while the San Diego Chargers work to solidify an AFC playoff bid as they take on the Detroit Lions from Qualcomm Stadium in Southern California.

Coverage kicks off at 12 p.m. ET with America's most-watched pregame show, FOX NFL SUNDAY. Co-hosts Terry Bradshaw and Curt Menefee quarterback the Emmy Award-winning pregame show with analysts Howie Long and Jimmy Johnson. In addition, Johnson pairs with fellow National Championship and Super Bowl-winning coach Barry Switzer to debate issues affecting college and professional football from a coaches perspective in "Grumpy Old Coaches."

Also, the NFL's No. 1 information man, Jay Glazer, provides his exclusive "Glazer's Edge" reports. Weather forecaster Jillian Reynolds and comedic prognosticator Frank Caliendo also contribute. This week, Pam Oliver sits down with Cowboys star tight end Jason Witten to talk about his fourth quarter goal line fumble against Detriot last week and how he came back to catch what proved to be the game-winning touchdown.

FOX SPORTS' ON-AIR TALENT REFLECT ON FIRST INSTALLMENT OF ‘BEST GIFT' — With the 2007 Holiday Season underway, FOX Sports' Joe Buck and Pam Oliver added a personal touch as they recounted the best gifts they received and what made that gift special to them. Look for next week's edition of ‘Best Gift' as BCS on FOX analyst Charles Davis and other on-air personalities remember what gifts they have cherished through the years.

FOX Sports Emmy Award-Winning Announcer Joe Buck (son of legendary broadcaster Jack Buck)
"In 1982 after the Cardinals had won the World Series that year, my dad got me a replica World Series trophy and I was in heaven. First, I was 13, and any trophy was cool. Second it was the very same that the Cardinals were presented with, only a little smaller so it could fit into my book case. It was heavy, gold, and excellent (as we said in the early 80's). And finally, that my dad thought to get that for me really meant a lot. I have never been more surprised on Christmas, and remember to this day where I was and what I was wearing when I opened it. It was a red rugby shirt and it happened in our basement next to a disco jukebox that was left over from the late '70s."

NFL on FOX Sideline Reporter Pam Oliver:
"I was 7 years old ... and my parents (or Santa) surprised me with an Easy Bake oven and matching washing machine. The cool part was the oven actually baked the cake thanks to the oven's high watt light bulb ... and the washer would actually whoosh around. By the next year I was a bonafide tomboy and completely horrified that I loved such products! But that was the best Christmas ever!"

MOOSE COMMENTS ON SUCCESS OF DALLAS HEAD COACH WADE PHILLIPS — As an 11-1 NFC powerhouse, many believe this year's Dallas Cowboys team will represent their conference in Arizona this February behind the leadership of head coach Wade Phillips, just one year after the departure of Bill Parcells. NFL on FOX analyst Daryl Johnston opined on the new approach that Wade brought to this team.

"I think [Phillips] has given a lot of ownership to the team. The way he approaches things along with his demeanor and personality fit well with the personalities on the roster. You can't knock Bill Parcells and the success that he's had throughout his career but when Owner Jerry Jones made the change, I thought it was important to go for someone who was very different in the way he handled things." Johnston added, "The players respect the way that [Phillips] treats them. It's a more relaxed atmosphere and is obviously having a positive impact on the team. His personality has blended well with the players."
