COWBOYS AND GIANTS LOOK TO SOLIDIFY PLAYOFF POSTION IN WEEK 14 As the NFL passes the three-quarter mark of the regular season, the cream of the NFC looks to distinguish themselves during NFL on FOX's singleheader action on Sunday, Dec. 9. Following last Thursday's victory over the Green Bay Packers, Tony Romo leads the 11-1 Cowboys into Motown to take on the Detroit Lions at 1 p.m. ET.
Also in the 1 p.m. ET time-slot, Eli Manning and the Giants look to build on last week's come-from-behind victory in Chicago as they take on the always dangerous Brian Westbrook and their division-rival Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. Later at 4 p.m. ET, Adrian Peterson leads the suddenly surging Minnesota Vikings out west as they battle the San Francisco 49ers.
Coverage kicks off at 12 p.m. ET with America's most-watched pregame show, FOX NFL SUNDAY. Co-hosts Terry Bradshaw and Curt Menefee quarterback the Emmy Award-winning pregame show with analysts Howie Long and Jimmy Johnson. In addition, Johnson pairs with fellow National Championship and Super Bowl-winning coach Barry Switzer to debate issues affecting college and professional football from a coaches perspective in "Grumpy Old Coaches."
Also, the NFL's No. 1 information man, Jay Glazer, provides his exclusive "Glazer's Edge" reports. Weather forecaster Jillian Reynolds and comedic prognosticator Frank Caliendo also contribute. In this week's show New York Giants DE Michael Strahan delivers another chapter of his ongoing Player Diary segments.
KENNY ALBERT ADDS PERSPECTIVE TO THE ELI MANNING DEBATE FOX Sports play-by-play announcer Kenny Albert, who teams with analyst Daryl Johnston to call Sunday's 1 p.m. ET contest between the Giants and Eagles, implores the many critics of Giants QB Eli Manning to maintain some perspective when analyzing his play.
"Although Eli's career is dissected on a minute-to-minute basis, I think it's important to realize that with a win in Philadelphia Sunday and some help elsewhere, the Giants clinch a playoff berth for the third time in three seasons with Eli as their starting quarterback," said Albert. "Furthermore, if the Giants do clinch this Sunday, it would be the earliest they have clinched a playoff spot since their 1990 Super Bowl championship season. And since everyone likes to compare him with his brother, let's keep in mind that Peyton did not win a postseason game until his sixth season in the NFL."
