FSN's Best Damn Sports Show Period is hitting the road again for its signature off-the-wall, irreverent coverage of the NFL's biggest game, as the BEST DAMN SUPER BOWL BASH PRESENTED BY DIRECTV touches down at the famous FBR Open in Scottsdale, Arizona for three days of great guests, unbelievable stunts and Super Bowl insight from some of the game's greatest players.
Host Chris Rose, co-hosts John Salley and Rodney Peete and special guest co-host, Olympic gold medalist and GoDaddy.com spokeswoman Amanda Beard, welcome a roster of A-list athletes and celebrities from Wednesday, January 30 to Friday, February 1. BDSSP is taping daily in front of a rowdy audience at the FBR Open, a PGA golf tournament well-known as the biggest sports party in Arizona and home to the largest golf galleries in the world. BDSSP's set will be located in the Birds Nest, the popular FBR Open entertainment tent that can accommodate upwards of 12,000 people
Each day, a different Super Bowl veteran serves as guest host – Ben Roethlisberger (Wednesday), Ray Lewis (Thursday) and Michael Strahan* (Friday) give an inside view of preparing to play in the last game of the season, discussing the pressures of dealing with the overwhelming media scrutiny while trying to play the biggest game of their lives.
Guest List (subject to change)
Wednesday, January 30: Roethlisberger guest hosts; former Steelers RB Jerome Bettis, former Redskins star QB Joe Theismann, Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck
Thursday, January 31: Lewis guest hosts, Giants QB Eli Manning* and his father, NFL great Archie Manning
Friday, February 1 – Strahan* guest hosts, Kansas City coach Herman Edwards
Plus, fans of the show who attend the tapings will be given a chance to take part in competitions with their NFL heroes. On Wednesday, six audience members will be divided up into three teams of two, with one arm and one leg tied together and will have to showcase tremendous agility, dexterity and a senses of humor as the aforementioned NFL quarterbacks throw balls to the teams in every direction but straight at them. The winning team will be determined by most number of catches made – though the NFL's best QBs will be able to award extra points for style.
On Thursday, BDSSP brings the two-on-two game from the hoops court to the gridiron, with Sumo Suit Football. Two teams of two audience members will don sumo suits and be coached by current NFL players. A defensive stop or an offensive touchdown garners a point. First team to three gets crowned Sumo Suit Super Bowl Champion.
Finally, on Friday BDSSP wraps up the week retro-style, with a nod to the original American Gladiators. The Best Damn Super Bowl Bash is putting fans into human-sized metal hamster cages and try to spin their way through a tough obstacle course as NFL players push the players off course.
BDSSP's SUPER BOWL BASH also features appearances by NFL cheerleaders and mascots, world-famous Hooters girls and promises surprise drop-ins by actors, musicians and some of golf's biggest names. Daily tapings are open to FBR Open ticket holders and media members.
