SPORT SCIENCE HITS BELOW THE BELT WITH AN EPISODE LOOKING AT THE CHEAPEST SHOTS IN SPORTS

COLLEGE FOOTBALL ON FSN

FSN continues to showcase the best college football teams in the country as it telecasts two huge Big 12 games and an important Pac-10 conference game on Saturday, November 3. The day starts at 12:30 p.m. EST/9:30 a.m. PST with No. 8 Kansas facing conference foe Nebraska in a historic game for the Jayhawks, one of only five undefeated teams in the BCS poll. The last time Kansas had a better record than Nebraska prior to their meeting was in 1974 and the No. 8 ranking is the highest for Kansas in 12 years.

Then come back later in the day as FSN presents back-to-back games featuring No. 9 Missouri taking on Colorado and followed by a Pac-10 showdown between Washington State and California. Before the games start, tune into the COLLEGE FOOTBALL SATURDAY KICKOFF SHOW presented by Kyocera at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PST for the latest gridiron news, scores and analysis.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL RATINGS ANECDOTE

Just two weekends after FSN's presentation of the Big 12 clash between then-No. 6 Oklahoma and then-No. 11 Missouri on Saturday, October 13 that delivered, according to Nielsen Media Research, a 2.3 rating, the fourth highest for a college football game ever on the network, FSN has achieved another ratings success. Last weekend's Pac-10 showdown on Saturday, October 27 between No. 5 Oregon and then-No. 12 USC was the fifth-most watched college football game ever on FSN, attracting more than 1.7 million viewers. The impressive viewer delivery represents a 1.8 HH rating and 1.4 million households. Those numbers reflect the ninth-highest rating for college football on the network, as well as the third-highest household delivery. Week after week, FSN has offered up an impressive schedule of games featuring top Pac-10 and Big 12 teams and the results have shown: FSN 2007 college football coverage is up across the board in ratings, households and viewers-per-game compared to the 2006 season-to-date.

SPORT SCIENCE

When a man sees a pro athlete take a low blow during a sporting event, he instinctively flinches and bemoans the pain that athlete is now enduring. Is it empathy or a subconscious understanding of pain? And what is the scientific reaction of the body when a male athlete is hit in the most sensitive of areas?

On this week's episode of the critically-acclaimed hit series SPORT SCIENCE, host John Brenkus and his team of scientists take a close look at the impact of low blows and examine just how safe protective equipment really is in SPORT SCIENCE: CHEAP SHOTS, airing on Sunday, November 4 at Midnight EST/9 p.m. PST.

In the one test this season you won't be able to watch and yet won't be able to take your eyes off of, a human subject volunteers to get hit in the groin with a tennis ball shot out of a cannon at 50 MPH as he is wired from head to toe so Brenkus' crew can get every reading available to give an exact scientific answer to why the low blow is so crippling.

Plus, there is an underlying sports belief that the equipment used to protect athletes actually succeeds in its intended purpose. But what if a baseball helmet buckles when hit with a fastball? And what if the ball were to hit the batter in the face? In one of this week's experiments, a ball is fired at a replica of a human head at 90 MPH while the test is filmed in super slow motion. The results will send Major League hitters to the equipment manager's office, demanding better protection.

FSN PRO FOOTBALL PREVIEW

There may be a 14 NFL games this weekend, but there is really only one everyone is talking about — the Patriots facing the Colts in a matchup of the two unquestioned best teams in football. Featuring the precision of Peyton Manning and the greatness of Tom Brady, a slew of Pro Bowlers and the game within the game battle between two of the smartest minds in the NFL as two Super Bowl winning head coaches try to outwit each other. On this week's installment of FSN PRO FOOTBALL PREVIEW, host Jay Glazer asks analysts Jason Sehorn, Tim Brown and Eddie George if they've ever been in a game more hyped – other than the Super Bowl -- than this game. Plus, they breakdown the many strengths and expose the few weaknesses each team has.

In the hilarious, must-see "You Are" segments, Sehorn morphs into Pats coach Bill Belichick, Brown becomes Colts coach Tony Dungy and George develops multiple personality disorder as he somehow simultaneously becomes the two best QBs in the NFL, Brady and Manning.

FSN PRO FOOTBALL PREVIEW airs on Friday, November 2 at 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. local, on Saturday mornings (check local listings) and Sundays at 10 a.m. ET/ 7 a.m. PT.

BCS RATINGS SHOW and BCS BREAKDOWN

Finally, a weekend of normalcy in a bizarre college football season. For the first time since the BCS rankings were released this season, the top five teams all maintained places. But with No. 1 Ohio State and No. 3 LSU both playing ranked opponents and with No. 5 Oregon hosting No. 4 Arizona State, the BCS is in for another transition at the top of the rankings. On Friday, November 2 at 6 p.m. local BCS BREAKDOWN previews these games and the impact they will have on the BCS standings. Host Tom Helmer, analysts Eddie George, Petros Papadakis and Gary Barnett and reporter Charissa Thompson look ahead to the last month of the season and predict which teams will make their way into the BCS bowls.

Then, on Sunday, November 4 shortly after the newest BCS ratings are unveiled on FOX NFL SUNDAY, Helmer, Papadakis and Barnett reconvene for the BCS RATINGS SHOW at 10:30 p.m. local to look at the rankings, the updated national title picture and see which teams can still slide into the top of the poll before the year is out.

BEST DAMN QUOTES
Herm Edwards (asked if he can use the Internet): "You gotta be kidding me. Internet? Surf? I don't have a cell phone. How am I going to surf the internet?"
Chris Rose: "You don't have a cell phone? How does your wife get a hold of you if you don't have a cell phone?"
Edwards: "It's real easy. I'm at work or I'm at home. In between she knows I'm driving to get there, so she's fine."

Edwards (on his favorite snack, Fig Newtons): "That was an old college deal. You didn't have a lot of money. You're living on your scholarship ... When you ran out of money, if you had some Fig Newtons in your refrigerator, you never went hungry. So that's kind of been my deal, from college all the way to right now, there are some Fig Newtons in our refrigerator. So if it all goes bad, I know I can go back to those Fig Newtons."
