NASCAR ON FOX CRANKS UP 2008 SEASON SATURDAY WITH 30th ANNUAL BUDWEISER SHOOTOUT IN PRIME TIME Jimmie Johnson, the reigning Sprint Cup series champion, looks to continue his winning ways this Saturday when FOX Sports drops the green flag on its eighth season of NASCAR coverage with the Budweiser Shootout live from Daytona Beach, FL.
Coverage begins at 8 p.m. ET. Johnson along with Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon and last year's winner Tony Stewart headline a star powered 70-lap race featuring 23 drivers, the largest field in the history of the event. As teams prepare for the first full season with the new car, this race is a golden opportunity for the drivers involved to test drive at Daytona. NASCAR on FOX host Chris Myers, as well as analysts Jeff Hammond and Darrell Waltrip provide prerace coverage with up-to-the-minute reports and live interviews with drivers, crewmen and officials shaping the day's action.
On Sunday at 1 p.m. ET, NASCAR on FOX action continues with Daytona 500 qualifying. Hammond says to look for the 2008 NASCAR season to be the ultimate in reality television: "To me, the 2008 season is reality TV and sports rolled into one. How bizarre is it that after such a turbulent first season in Sprint Cup competition, Toyota is in a position where they could win their first Cup race during the 50th Daytona 500? How about Dale Earnhardt Jr., who has only won one race in two seasons yet is a favorite to come out of the box with Hendrick Motorsports and win his first race for Amp/National Guard at Daytona? There's a lot of "What ifs?" that are going to play out in front of everybody starting next week, and it's going to continue throughout the year. I'm not saying that 2008 is going to be a bizarre season in NASCAR, but I do believe there's going to be a lot of history made and it's going to make for great reality TV every weekend."
NFL ALL-STARS COME TO FOX FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER The 2007-08 NFL season officially concludes this Sunday, Feb. 10 at 4:30 p.m. ET when the NFL's greatest players take the field in beautiful Honolulu, HI as FOX Sports presents the Pro Bowl. The AFC's best players match wits with the NFC's top performers of this past season from Aloha Stadium featuring the likes of the NFL's Defensive Player of the year, Colts Safety, Bob Sanders, Cowboys QB Tony Romo, Vikings RB Adrian Peterson, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger and Super Bowl champion Giants DE Osi Umenyiora. Play-by-play announcer Kenny Albert is joined by booth mate Daryl Johnston with Tony Siragusa and Brian Baldinger providing analysis from the sidelines.
In addition to utilizing its typical arsenal of production equipment for the broadcast, game producer Bob Stenner and director Sandy Grossman will also have players and coaches wired for sound and cameras in each team's huddle throughout the game.
